whoops i meant to saywhat is your steam name?
Oh yes please!
I think Graves today
There's a shit load you need to learn to start to begin to express yourself in Deadlock. I'm maybe 450 or so hours deep and there just loads to think about in game. Map, position, creeps, pushing, items, econ. Once you start to get a handle on all the systems though its fucking brilliant. It's never once been chaotic though which is crazy considering the amount of possibilities. Sometimes I don't even play and will boot it up to watch the high level players go at it.This game really sparks my interest - heroes, lanes, and in-match progression. As a shooter fan, I'm down to try new stuff, but I want the gunplay to stay crisp and fun, not turn into chaos because of mechanics. How are things going there?
In my whopping 12 hours of play time I don't think I've won a single match lol. I pretty much get instakilled by others yet I have to dump in multiple abilities and mags into the an enemy just to hopefully get a measly assist!
It's crazy to me sometimes how I will stun someone, give them everything I have and then either: they get away with plenty of hp remaining or I 'kill' them only for the character to reappear instantly with FULL health.
I want to like this game but so far the time to kill mechanics are very confusing. I get melted by a Warden but despite putting everything into bullet damage, ammo amount, ability cooldown, etc I hardly make a dent.
Also Seven's ult is retarded. Has that shit ever been nerfed?
Yeah played plenty of third person mobas or games that have similar mechanics. Never dabbled in DOTA or League though.right now with a lot of rusty players returning and new players joining due to the update and new heros, things are a little... hectic, to say the least. match making seem to be putting people from different skill brackets together sometimes. adding that to the fact that folks are still testing out new heros, the games can definitely be somewhat one sided. I got completely stomped 2 or 3 times yesterday too, if it makes you feel any better.
as for playing better, I do want to ask you a question. have you played any other MOBA before? Deadlock's fundamentals are the same as any other MOBA such as DOTA2 or LOL. the key point, outside of movement and aim, is positioning and map awareness. make it a habit of taking rapid looks at the mini map and knowing when to draw back is very important. also, while killing the enemy heros are important, when you're still getting the hang of the game, it's best to play it safe and don't fully commit to trying to kill the other guy if you're not familiar with the hero and the other guy has more net worth than you (the little number under their picture tells you how much everyone have). because that usually translates to how much more items they have and how strong they are compared to you. I had a Victor last night that keeps going going up against the other team's Warden when their net worth is 9K vs 12K. needless to say it didn't end well and we lost the game bad. MOBAs can be very overwhelming at first. but if you're willing to take your time and learn, it can be a lot of fun. and remember, communication is very important. even if it's just typing or using the pings can be helpful. of course, voice chat would be best if you can.
as for the dead hero reappearing with full HP right away, that's most likely the Rejuvenator's effect. right underneath the center of the map in blue lane, there is a Mid Boss that would respawn starting at 10 minutes. it's very hard to kill solo and usually requires a big part of your team to take down. however, once killed, a big crystal would slowly descent and once it's on the ground you can punch it to get the Rejuvenator effect. one heavy melee = one charge and it holds 3 charges that allows one player in your team to respawn with full HP 3 seconds after they're killed. each player can only be respawn once by the Rejuv from the same Mid Boss, so if your team has three Rejuvs and you got killed, you'll only respawn one time. and then even if you die again even when there are still two more Rejuv charges on your team, you won't respawn again and have to wait for the usual death timer to count down.
lastly, about you going up against the Warden, you might want to check what items he got. because Warden's abilities give him a lot of bullet resist .so if he had built for more damage resist items HP recovery, then it's not a surprise you have a hard time killing him. sometimes, the best items to buy are not the damage boosting, but debuff items. what hero were you using at the time?
as for Seven's ult, you should consider it lucky they sorta did nerfed it. there was a time when Ivy can pick up Seven using her flight and make it a moving thundercloud that you can't hide from.unless your whole team can focus fire him down or having knockdown items/abilities, it's best to just back up or take cover as soon as you seen him go up. he can't really move that move during it anyway so just back off and recover first. btw, his ult only attacks downward I believe. so if you are able to get above him, that would also help in avoiding the damage.
anyway, feel free to ask questions and don't worry about losing games. we all go through the same things and sometimes that's the best way to learn.

I must've watched 6-8 guides by now with regards to mechanics, heroes and other features but I just can't seem to make any impact in a match; either Street Brawl or the main mode. I love the art, world building, characters, etc but it is a very steep learning curve. I hope it will still click but it always sucks when you cant even get ONE kill in a match and are just doing chores.
I was using Infernus btw.
AlsoRobot Carnival what about these OT titles?
Deadlock |OT| Why Is Everyone Mid
Deadlock |OT| Up in Souls, Down in Morale
Deadlock |OT| Patch Notes Literacy Test
How do I get health back btw? Like when you're fighting in a lane and you're literally on the verge of death. Just go back to the base or are you reliant on others' abilities (or your own)?
Would you recommend just sticking to Street Brawl for the time being btw or?so, do you see the lane creep that's carrying a tall flag? those guys, when killed, will drop a health orb. when you get close to it, the health orb will fly over to you and provide a burst of healing. so you would want to keep that creep the last to kill in a wave at the start of laning, so the health orb is closer to you and easier to pick up. the burst of healing is share between you and your lane partner, or just for you if you're alone. there are also items like Extra Regen and Healing Rite that you can buy to help keep your health up. do keep in mind that Healing Rite is a healing over time item when used, and while it won't get interrupted by jungle or lane creeps attacking you, any enemy heroes' damage, even if just one tick, will stop the healing. so if you're using that, make sure to take cover in a safe spot.
and then there are items like Bullet Lifesteal, Spirit Lifesteal and Melee Lifesteal for the appropriate heros.
Play the VS AI mode imo. Learn the map + charactersWould you recommend just sticking to Street Brawl for the time being btw or?

I play everyday. The game has the addictive qualities of a roguelike mixed with a 3rd person shooter and MOBA. It's probably the best online game Valve has ever made, and its still beta. The lore is engrossing. Every character has something like 500 lines that only trigger in certain circumstances, so every game you play, you get a little piece of the world building.
There are numerous balance issues. This is one of those kinds of games that requires constant balancing, so its never going to be in a perfect place, but the devs clearly know what theyre doing.
