Poochie characters from the entertainment industry.

Based on The Simpsons, in this episode, there are characters who try to be popular, new, or something cool... and end up forgotten, hated, or failing.

Which characters do you consider to be these? I think this character from Sabrina the Teenage Witch... Dreama.

They thought she was going to be a breath of fresh air, but she was a flop.

Robert California on The Office. He's very off-putting. Dwight and Creed are, too, but California comes off as menacing where they don't. At least that was the vibe I got. Didn't watch much of the seasons when he was on board.

Mutt Williams
Randy
Agent John Doggett
Agent Monica Reyes

I like Doggett and Reyes individually. They're distinct from Mulder and Scully in how they express their believer/sceptic dynamic (Doggett's scepticism is more militaristic and set-in-his-ways than Scully; Reyes is more spiritualistic and new agey in her open-mindedness than Mulder), and Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish both bring a lot of depth to their portrayals. The problem is that the two actors had no chemistry with each other whatsoever, especially compared to the dynamite between David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, and the show makes the terrible decision of highlighting this by suggesting they're lovers, which immediately becomes the most implausible thing in a series about a vast extraterrestrial conspiracy. However, I'd argue that each character was a breath of fresh air on their own when they were introduced, and for me Reyes brings a really nice, lighter energy to episodes when she's given focus. That Chris Carter subsequently turned her into a collaborator, who is given the shamefully disrespectful death of being shot in the face while helping the CSM and never mentioned again, was by far the most unforgivable thing about the revival seasons and one of the most egregious pieces of character assassination (literally) I've ever seen.

Ignoring that, though, I'm pro-Doggett and (very) pro-Reyes, just not necessarily pro-Doggett and Reyes together.

Na uh, you guys are misunderstanding the assignment. We're talking about characters brought in to change the dynamic, weren't received well and then phased out/ignored.

Think Seven from Married with Children. Not characters you don't like.
I didn't know MM was received well in S-M2. I thought people disliked his inclusion. I feel like I need to lie down.

Nikki and Paulo from Lost. Abruptly introduced in Season 3 as Oceanic 815 survivors who were supposed to be unseen background survivors from previous seasons and were shoehorned into the main storyline randomly with the main characters. Hilariously killed off in the same season and were never mentioned again due to fan backlash.
