Steam Improvements Thread

Things I want for the Launcher to improve on:

- LET US CHANGE THE GAME'S NAME YOU ABSOLUTE BASTARDS! I HATE LOOKING AT SUPER TURBO HYPER SUCK MY DICK EDITION OR CAPS LOCKS VERSIONS OF GAMES.

- Let us organize it according to Year or Chronological order. No Steam Edit doesnt help. Collection folder is a damn band aid. It keeps on reverting back.

- GOG Galaxy changes to the covers applies on a cloud setting to any PC. If you apply it to Steam, all your collection organization, Grids, Heroes, Icons don't change once you move to a new one.

- Let us rate the game before or after we finish for our personal collection tastes.

- Steam Workshop for every game. Why the fuck do I have to go to Nexus Mods when cool shit like this exists already.

Add more so these autistic Gaben millionaire interns can see what we want.

You can already do this. I use SteamEdit.

If you want these as native features then contact Steam.

This is on the devs/publisher side, not Steam's.

A rating system with 3 or 5 stars. Not just yes or no.

A option to have a silent start for Steam. Yes, it can be done with some extra commands, but it's a bit of a hassle.

Forbid the installation of secondary launchers. If I buy a game on Steam, the last thing I need is the game to start installing Uplay, or Rockstar launcher, or some other launcher.

Ban crap like Denuvo and Enigma.

You can do that. I always changed the name when I used Steam big picture mode for Gamepass games. The file you had to add had the name gameloaderhelper.exe or something similar. So I changed the name to the game's title. Can add your own cover art too.

I want a feature removed from the game description pages. Hate how the scroll-wheel moves through all the preview images, causing the scrolling of the actual page to halt.

DRM free games.

Thank you.

I guess peoples have already commented on this but all the systems for that are already in steam, it's up to devs.

There's games that you can go into their installation folder and just execute the .exe without opening Steam. There's games where you can strip steamworks and it becomes DRM free by renaming / deleting steam.exe to something else, find the game executable and run it.

Most of "DRM" on Steam is basically a logon and license handshake. It's keeping achievements/cloud saves. It's DRM light. This is the least problematic DRM imo compared to shit like Denuvo.

I would never trade Steam's QOL features just to be a DRM purist.

I know, I know, I know. But we need more. And a simple "download installer" option, like on GOG. This is the way.
