Metal Gear Solid 4 Remaster | PS3 vs PS5 | Graphics Comparison Trailer

I actually never played Phantom Pain due to how disappointed I was with MGS4. I thought Kojima dropped the ball hard after the excellent PS1 and 2 games. Is Phantom Pain universally disliked by the fanbase? Is that why Konami is leaving it out of this Volume 2 of Master Collection?
I don't think it has anything to do with the fanbase disliking it but more to do with practicality. MGSV is already on the PC and is backwards compatible on the PS5 and Xbox so what reason would Konami have with re-releasing it? It makes sense with these older titles since they aren't on modern platforms.

Yep that's definitely a PS3 game running at higher resolution. Looks like very minimal changes/improvements to textures other than the resolution bump.

Fortunately, the PS3 version was far better looking than most realized, it was just so low resolution and had such bad motion clarity that it didn't look great, even at the time. I think modern displays and tech will really make this one shine.

I don't know. Kinda weird to omit it in a collection dedicated to Metal Gear just because it's more accessible than the other games. It's still part of the franchise and could be a great way to reintroduce it to a new audience. Not everyone has played it.

I agree, MGS4 is one of the few games from that era that has graphically aged well. I'm currently playing FF13 on the PS3 and it amazes me how good looking it looks and it came out 17yrs ago.

It seems their focus is releasing the older titles to modern platforms.

Have they re-recorded the pre-rendered cutscenes? Because, yes the game have som pre-rendered cutscenes, and they will lool absolutely hidous at their native resolution and framerates compared to the rest of the game running at 4k 60.

It's... a remaster, not a remake. Seems they have improved the resolution buffer and the texture with the perfomance. What else you expected exactly? More or less is like RdR1.

While the difference in resolution is big, those PS3 screens here does not represent what it actually looks like and make it out to be way more blurry then it is.
The biggest difference is the blooming effect

Texture and special effects are also higher resolution in comparison. Same the shadows where on ps3 were horrid low resolution.
