Listen. Hear me out...
XB Magnus is PC hybrid utilizing mid/high range next gen AMD GPU (AT2/RX 10070XT), expected to cost $1000+ ($1200~1500), play PC games, and be backwards compatible with past XBoxen.
That includes, obviously the XBox Series X, a 52 RDNA2 CU console, so even with increased IPC from RDNA 2 to 5, MS is using 68 CU AT2 to make it easy to not only BC XSX, but make it easy to upgrade XSX graphics and performance significantly on Magnus using BC.
But what if MS brought out a much cjeaper PC hybrid that didn't have to BC XSX? What if it only had to BC XBox Series S?
Allow me to present yo you, XBox Minimus:
- Semi custom SoC with 6x Zen 6c and 2x Zen 6 LP chiplet mated to AT4 chiplet (24 RDNA5 CU) running at 4 GHz Z6c/2.8GHz AT4
- 32GB LPDDR5X 10000 on 128bit bus soldered on mobo (4x 8GB modules)
- 512 GB PCIe 4.0 x4 m.2 SSD included plus spare m.2 slot
- $499 MSRP
How it will perform:
-;Will run Steam games as well as Steam Machine, but with much superior FSR scaling and FG implementations (FSR5?).
- BC XSS games with better resolutions and frame rates.
- Very simple motherboard layout with very small SoC die size should allow easy and efficient cooling, small PSU (100W?), and ultimately very low cost to manufacture.
- Powerful enough to run PC games as well as any contemporary PC handheld running in Docked mode.
XB Minimus will be an actual successful Series S to the Series X of the XB Magnus since RAM is not a limitation like it was on XSS. It will sell like gangbuster due to its price and support for Steam, Epic game store, GOG, and XBox BC.
In fact, Nostrodrunkus is willing predict that XB Minimus is already in the plans...?
NOSTRODRUNKUS HAS SPOKEN~
