Sony shuts down Bluepoint Studios

I remember the making of Demon's Souls remake.

This was such a great studio and they had it all together. Remember when they were doing the music? Such a great doc and such a great studio.

Really seemed to operate like a multimillion dollar studio should. They put out a hell of a game and still one of the best looking games on PS5 Pro.

No. In the same way neogaf is not the source of this news. Bloomberg is. Not facebook, bluesky or anything else.
The bloomberg article came out after the news broke out.

Funny thing is, the 2nd post by Schreier linking to Bloomberg was edited and added by a mod (rightfully so)

Funnier thing, I like how your main concern is that it's a link from bluesky.

Even funnier, you're still retarded

Every week some bullshit happens that makes me want to sell off all my modern systems, go grab my SNES outta the closet and call it a fucking day. Its starting to feel real gross pumping money into an industry that throws its creatives into the fire because the fucking morons at the top haven't a single clue. I just want to see ONE C-suite head roll. ONE....just fucking ONE.

This whole exchange has been hilarious. Thanks to all that have contributed, lol.

Thanks, hope I didn't offend you.

Oh shit. My mistake then.
Genuinely thought it was first posted on Bloomberg.

You're not wrong. But I highly doubt their team(s) was/were instructed to remove or reorganize their entire social media plan by higher ups.

I'm not blaming the Sony twitter team. Just Sony management in general. Really shitty news and this comes across as acting like it is no big deal. I mean....even Phil Spencer is smart enough to go silent when shit hits the fan. Making Phil Spencer look smart is a hell of an accomplishment.

Oh I know, and you're right, they should be. I think it's just apparent that their higher management doesn't give two shits.

This is awful news. Not awful... Dreadful. This Sony we see now, hasn't got a fucking clue. They've pissed hundreds of millions away trying to capture lightning in a bottle and forgotten everything that made them special along the way.

Terrible!

Is this why Demon's Souls on PC from the now ancient Nvidia leak hasn't happened yet? I think it's the only thing left besides GT7 which I assume Polyphony would do in-house.

"rising development costs".
Yes Sony because every game you greenlight seems to be operating under the impression that it has to be a AAA blockbuster.

The Sony of old produced some great games because it wasn't afraid to experiment a bit with smaller titles.

Honestly IDK, they did some pretty looking games but, that's that. Xbox did way worse with canceling those big games earlier. And there's that Kojima game funded by Sony (which could've been canceled instead) to look forward to.

Hermen Hulst is like a cancer, he has been sending Sony first partty into shit. First he says that concord iis going to be the next star wars for sony, then green lists 700 Horizon games, shoving Aloy down into our throats (including that dead on arrival Live Service game), and yet he choses to shut down one of the best porting studios in the industry. They had only one job, Blloodborne HD, and yet they were in the same shit live as a service games hell from Sony. This seriously pisses me off.

Yo, wtf

Maybe they are just taking all the talent and moving them into another place?
Hopefully this. But even then maybe only some secure anything.

Couldn't they give them any random remake, or loaned them some third party to Namco or something for Ridge Racer or Konami for Ape Escape.

Or Puppeteer. That game was decent.

I'm not particularly convinced. Is a man or woman 45-plus going to spend more on live service games just because they play less than they did 5 years ago? I fail to see the correlation. If anything I'd wager they're not interested in jumping into a competitive online arena with a lobby of annoying teenagers.
Not only that, but completion rate has no connection to revenue as the game has already been purchased whether it's completed or not.
