Arc Raiders: Shrouded Sky

Talk about lame enemy addiction...

They just stapled the ball flamethrower to a drone and the other is a ball that explode when close...don't we already have a ball that explode? What is the difference? More armour?

Wow that is lame.
2 varieties of already existing enemy types and a few new rooms with more garbage inside..
"Significant" lol.

  • Removed PvP Feats, updated a few existing Feats and added a few new ones.

lol. They really leaning into the carebear pve
How you play the game has always been in there, no one is stopping you pulling the trigger. They've done a good job of putting like minded gamers together IMO. There's plenty aggressive PvP players out there if that's what you're looking for, I don't see why it can't be both.

I got turned off because their lame matchmaking doesn't really allow for both at once. If you defend yourself, bam you're in the pure PvP servers.
There shouldn't be any matchmaking at all in this type of game.

I'm pretty sure the data they use goes off who shoots first but I may be wrong. I was initially PvP player and it creates a tension in game that at the moment I don't have as I'm generally "friendly" but that was largely because I was collecting materials to upgrade work stations etc.

I'm now back playing the way I started which is more aggressive but trying not to be a rat, but sometimes you have to play dirty in this game.

Yep, I hate that too. Sadly it's because pussies would quit playing because they get killed. What's the point even in friendly servers fighting robots for nothing. 0 skill and 0 tension required.

Marathon ain't doing shit, seriously think Bungie can attract a big player base and keep them long term?

As for Raider's it only came out 3 half months ago, way people are talking you'd think it was out years.
Yeah but you'd think we'd gotten a new weapon or two by now.

I'm just gonna let Embark cook a bit more and return to it once I've put some hours into Marathon. Arc is great but it is getting samey rather fast for me now.

It doesn't track who shoots first.

I stopped playing when they made MMR work with the gear I got with me, I mean how am I supposed to kill someone with better gear than me if I can't find anyone?

That made me not buy this at all, I have no interest in shooting at clankers in games, it's the most boring shit in the universe to me.

Gears of War just instantly evaporated into mist for me when they made you fight robots.

Why is this game's audience steadily dropping so much on Steam? Was this a FOMO pump and dump?
I think it's normal.

People are slowly, but steadily getting tired of campers, glitchers and youtubers inspired people playing as assholes all the time.

While on the pve side the lack of new enemies, weapons and maps is evident.

As the player base drops, I am sure/hopeful that new stuff will be released. A pve mode with harder arcs and a pvp focused mode will definitely bring back older players and add new ones.

For some reason Arc has grown stale for me yet I put in over 2700 hours into Hunt Showdown. The latter especially has become very consistent over the past two years or so with constant content updates and/or events.
Hunt Showdown sounds like a real one, grew from the bottom up, I think this Ark Raiders was way more marketing hype than game.

I doubt it. Just think it's going to take Embark 12 - 24 months to build one.
When I played that demo test or whatever it was, I could feel the copy paste EA SW Battlefront 1 in the assets and UI, think people laughed at me saying that, that's fair, I'm retarded etc, but the game gave me slap dash pump and dump vibes. Still does, always will.

Maybe they'll put together something to give it legs, we'll see.

They certainly have the runway to do it now.

What we need are more weapons, submachine Guns, Rocket launchers etc...
And more tools, Jump pack or something like that. And some Nice land enemies, Droids like a Terminator.

I hope we get some banger content later this year because now i am dissapointed

These are the less boring clankers in the history of robotic enemies tho.

Their ai, hit reactions, pathfinding, audio design and destruction is first in class, i give the clankers what belongs to ceasar, they were almost the only reason why i played the game for 100 hours.

There is just not enough diversity and they are not exactly original in term of look.

Gears should have ended with gears 3 :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I'm stuck on stupid repeating the same thing over and over, but I'm going to say it again: This IP is wasted in its current state.

The concept is worthy of a genuine narrative, right up there with the best in gaming and, had it been presented that way, could've probably made the jump to film before long.

My hope is they take some of the money they've made and do a proper PvE campaign, but I doubt that'll happen.

It's a total subjective personal gripe I have, dude, lol, yeah if they're good to you then kickass, my eyes just glaze over when it's bots, I have no idea why.

So you never reached the part where the robots mixed with the locust and things became chaotic and more difficult?
No sir, and this is a while ago so I could be wrong, but I bailed from Gears 4 soon as I was fighting robots and I bailed from Gears 5 after about an hour of being unable to physically stand the peppy quippy dialogue.

In hindsight, I think those two were made very specifically for a different audience.

Maybe this is some psychological push to get younger people comfortable with fighting machines in real life, I don't know, I just know I find it instantaneously kind of boring.

Player driven stories >>> Linear authored stories.

ARC Raiders players don't want passive story.

After the first couple of hours in Gears 5 the tone becomes darker and a main character is punished for being sloppy and not taking things seriously enough, because it led to mass casualties.

…I don't think I'll ever understand aesthetic-first gaming.

Don't get me wrong, i also prefer fighting humans\momsters, but i'm a sucker for good enemy AI and these are some of the most intelligent enemies you are ever gonna find in a videogame, using machine learning to fix common pathways problems was a stroke of genius that should be used in any videogame in existence, like even tetris :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

There is no player-driven story. There's siloed experience after siloed experience, where you either complete your objective or you don't. It adds up to nothing but cosmetic unlocks. The existing story, such as it is, is as linear and passive as any other.
