BAFTAS controversy...

"BUT WHY IS THAT WORD EVEN IN HIS VOCABULARY???"

I don't know. Maybe he's watched Sinners? Or listened to any rap song from the past 20 years?

Reminds me of when Maximillian Dood said it on stream because he was drunk and had streamed for like 16 hours straight and was doing a word game where he was saying weird catch phrases based on different letters and he was on N.
And he was doing some longer rhymes and was gonna end it on '' ninja dagger '' because I guess he couldn't think of anything else in the moment and said '' n-word dagger ''.
He's probably one of the most wholesome streamers out there and no one serious actually believes he's racist, it was just a weird brain fart because of him being extremely tired and drunk and because it rhymed with dagger and his brain was just searching for a word rhyming with it in like a single second.
But there were still some people trying to cancel him over it.

He obviously doesn't have tourettes but it's an example of how given the right circumstances basically anyone can have it slip out by mistake.
It being such a controversial word I think only makes it more likely it'll subconsciously slip out if it wasn't it'd kinda just exist in the void of your brain somewhere.

I know everyone is piling on the BBC right now, but tbh, when I first saw the unedited video I couldn't tell what the dude shouted at all if it wasn't for the headline telling me what he said.

It's entirely plausible that the guy's editing the thing absolutely did not understand it.

If you haven't seen the unedited video, it's literally the dude shouting from his seat, which sounds nearly unrecognizable as most any of the random shouts from the crowds do at events like this.

I will try to assume it was just an error in not being able to hear it from their position, unlike the visitors there who would have heard it much more clearly, rather than these people (the people who are suppose to edit it) being genuinely racist or doing this on purpose.

But who knows.

I feel bad for Michael B Jordan, Delroy Lindo and John Davidson. It sucks for Jordan and Lindo that happened to them, especially at an event that was celebrating their work and it sucks for Davidson that him working to promote awareness around Tourette has led to a high profile situation like this which could increase the stigma around it. With situations like this there's often a rush to assign blame but there's no malice here. You can't expect people with Tourette's to shut themselves away from the world. It's unfortunate that the BBC didn't edit it out of the broadcast.

I maybe misread your post DeafTourette DeafTourette but what was your question?

My question was: given that this controversy was 100% preventable, is this something the BBC does often?

This was an excellent chance for people unfamiliar with this disorder to understand it better instead people want to wrap themselves in ignorance to chase being a victim. Do people even realize just how fucking hard it has to be to go out there, putting yourself smack dab in the middle of attention just knowing it's not only going to set your tourette's off but of COURSE people are going to shit on you for it. Having my own disorder to deal with, it's not a surprise. Just another expected "yep, here we go again' moment that could have been avoided if people would be open for learning.

I wouldn't say often no. As you mentioned with it happening with something else, things will get edited off of these shows. I think in this case it just slipped through the net. It's not the only case of something not being edited out recently, there was another last summer in the broadcast of Glastonbury music festival. But I think it's just what can unfortunately happen with these kinds of broadcasts.

Like 0neAnd0nly 0neAnd0nly said above, I think it was maybe just missed at the time because it's not too obvious if you don't know to listen for it or look at the reactions of Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo. It's really unfortunate and it should have been picked up in between the time between the event taking place and the broadcast.

reminds me of the thing like just 2-3 weeks ago. I don't watch it, but just heard about it on the feeds about Nicole Curtis on some home repair show. A video where she was messing with a nail and it was annoying her and she went 'fart n-ggers'
i don't know why they released that video and why they didn't just cut it. but she often ays 'fart nuggets' on things, and she let that slip. I don't know her, so racist or not. I think this kind of stuff is overblown.

About the torrettes thing, I only ever heard about it in that comedy movie, so its like a meme to me. Alongside those tictok videos where people pretend to have it for attention. So actual 'yea this is a real thing' kind of escapes me, since I just know about it as a fake thing to laugh at.

A bunch of privileged millionaires acting offended and bashing a poor guy with a terrible disability is peak narcissist evil. I wish a PAINFUL DEATH to every one of these virtue signaling motherfuckers.

Tourette Syndrome isn't a fake thing and it's nothing to laugh at.

I don't blame the guy with the disability, but the BBC really should've edited it. I don't know if they messed up or if they thought leaving it in somehow makes a point, but it's very unprofessional on their part, and it just makes things harder on the filmmaker.

being offended by words, while disregarding context, is the biggest sign of a low IQ there is.

so I for one am happy that people got offended, because they don't deserve not being offended while the rest of us have to live with their offensive stupidity.

Ok where is a video of this.
Best I could find:

Justin Timberlake Judging You GIF

I'm black, nigga is part of my vocabulary, but I have never once, no matter how tired or drunk "brainfarted" the word with the hard R like max did, I don't even think he's racist in fact I thought it was hilarious, especially afterwards with him visibly squirming and trying to play it off with "ninjer"; I'm laughing right now just thinking about it, because he says it with such conviction.

Have you ever been drunk and streamed for 16 hours while playing a word game where you're rhyming and the word you're trying to rhyme with is dagger and starts with N?

"Other examples of John's outbursts, though not nearly as serious:

- Yelled "Fuck the queen" as he was getting knighted
(by the queen).

- Also yelled at the police during that time, that he had a bomb.

- Yelled at Prince Charles that Camilla takes it up the
ass"

Added by Bojji to make things clear.

I need a Karl Pilkington style travel show with this guy as the star

Tourette Syndrome isn't a fake thing and it's nothing to laugh at.
I dunno, if there was a guy who had bouts of explosive diarrhea, made an award nominated film about it, still not sure I'd park him up front where he might display his handicap for all to appreciate :P

I think we can laugh about this, as it's not really any different than the awards asking a person in a wheelchair to come up on stage, and then everyone realizes there is no ramp for him to do so. Oopsie! Obviously Michael Jordan and Delroy Lindo ought to get an apology, and I'm sure they did. Same with other presenters and even the host this guy yelled at because he was apparently doing it throughout the show until he finally left to watch it in another room after the n-bomb. Folks are zeroed in on the n-word but he said hurtful stuff to Cummings as well as others. So where is the line on decorum in the ceremony and whose feelings take top priority?

I'll never understand why Palestine specifically deserves so much attention, there's genocides going on in the world that have been going on for much longer with far more people dying that no one ever talks about.
But people act like this is the most important thing that has ever happened and there's so much social pressure to talk about it.

Because Israel itself is a hot topic in American circles. Many Americans are fully, vocally on-board with Zionism (and many are not) and so any actions that may reflect negatively on the Israeli government are liable to draw more media attention.

Google is helping.

This in not my endorsement or use of the word this is just the craziest thing that you have to see to believe. If a mod wants to remove it or DeafTourette DeafTourette wants it gone I will move it.

Keep it. You're just reporting, not saying it.

Unrelated to your post but I find it odd that black people are always supposed to be ones to get over the N-word yet no one else (Jews , Italians, the disabled, etc) is supposed to get over the slurs to them.

The only real blame here is the BBC not censoring the word for the broadcast.

As for the incident itself, obviously the guy couldn't control it. So nobody should heap blame on him. He was even so ashamed about it he left oh his own accord. At the same time, it is highly embarrassing to be called that word on a prestigious public award show, so that sucks for the award winners as well. Nobody in the incident is to blame, and both parties feel shit about it - a bad situation all around.

i wouldn't say get over just don't give it such power. all slurs are bad. but for the most part when you call an Italian a racial slur it doesnt consume them or cause them to see red.

we live in a world where disney wont let you call the ship slave 1 due to racial fear.

i had people call me a cracker or a hick or redneck i just move on. the issue is with them no me.

Maybe dont glamourize the word thinking it's a cool thing to say and be on one side of the fence, but then act it's the worst word in the world when other people say it or used in unintentional context like the Tourette's tic guy.

Other ethnic backgrounds who dont like their insults go around saying it trying to be cool with those slurs.

Do those ethnic groups keep using the slurs in songs they write? Also who says no one else is supposed to get over the slurs to them?

It was a stupid incident overall - both the incident itself and the post mortem with people blaming the guy.

If there's any blame to pin it on, it should be on the BAFTA editing crew for not bleeping it out. And Jamie Foxx too trying to get some spotlight claiming the guy is racist.

For everyone start at 5:20 mark, but watch all if wanted. Looks like Jamie is wrong this 5%. Guy doesn't understand the Tourette's tic guy. You can tell by the whole video is a really sour race base guy. Even after the 5:20 mark, he goes..... "I'm sitting in my Mercedes thinking I'm white...." Wow, who knew every white guy drives a nice car and gets zero pull overs from cops. Guy thinks everyone but him doesnt get hassled in life.

They should have edited or bleeped it out and removed him from the theatre.
He is still responsible for any words that come out of his mouth no matter what condition he has.
Tourettes isn't a free pass to say anything anywhere to anyone. Involuntary or not, he still has to be thinking about these words beforehand.
Any other white person would have been arrested on the spot in the UK these days.
(I don't believe anybody should be arrested for offensive speech, however he shouldn't be excused of responsibility either.)

It's all scripted to keep the 'racism' agenda alive. Never trust the globalist elitist leftist bastards. They will do anything to be in control. The UK alone is proof of that.

The chances of any cops arresting a Tourette's guy for saying obnoxious things out loud is probably zero.

Loud and annoying, yes. Could be funny too, yes. The vast majority of people will ignore it given the context, yes.

This goes beyond obnoxious now, what he said is illegal to say in the UK, especially to poc in public.

I mean, my girlfriend is mixed race, if he shouted stuff like this at her I'd slap the shit out of him. Idgaf what condition he has.

As someone who grew up in NYC where everyone says the forbidden* N-word in their teens and even twenties, I always found the hand-wringing and hypocrisy around it to be nothing less than hilarious.

This is no different.

That wasn't the question.

But OK; I don't see any other group calling themselves related slurs for fun. I've never been called a "cracker", nor said that to anyone else. Just typing it here is cringe as.

Imagine being so deep in the sauce that a real medical tic at an awards show becomes elite orchestrated psyop

Must be exhausting being that paranoid 24/7

Big grifts = big money.

Big money due to a lot of idiots who get emotionally wacko over an incident like this. Imagine if a child spilled his drink on the carpet. Time to sue his parents for vandalism because I'm sure the kid meant it!

As usual, sit back and enjoy the laughs as people act like clowns.

To be fair, I don't think (many) other groups walk around calling themselves kikes, spics, gooks, wetbacks, guidos, wop, or whatnot but insist the term is reserved just for their own internal use. Justified or not, the widespread use of n-word variants within the black community, broadcast out in the music they make (that has achieved wide appeal) makes it seem kinda contradictory to both use it but vehemently react when others do so even when not actually directed at anyone. I certainly don't call folks "cracker", much less "redneck" but nor do I fly off the handle if someone uses it towards me, but I recognize 'fightin' words' when I hear them so these slurs are hopefully stored away in my vocabulary as I realize the reaction they can provoke. I'd propose that folks should make "nazi" the "white n-word" as that term has both HORRIBLE historical connotations and is thrown around uber-liberally to smear folks.

Exactly. You want people to act a certain way, then it's probably pretty good to walk the talk and do it too. Think of it this way.

A couple slobs dressed like crap with bedhead tells everyone to dress better. The other people say forget it, they'll dress ratty too if they feel like it. The first slobs says no you cant. And when other people why not, they say only they're allowed because they understand how to be true slobs. Everyone is is a fake, which is a personal insult. LOL

If I was there I probably would have cracked up laughing at the sudden outburst. People need to lighten up.
It was funny. They could had made it a lighthearted incident and laugh it off. Especially comedians like Jamie Foxx afterwards making jokes about it and let it slide. But I guess someone like him whose entire career was initially based on sitcoms and comedy shows where he'd grab his balls in front of crowds making dumb noises thinks he's a serious actor now.

So you would beat up a disable guy just for the sake of white knighting your chick. Your previous post was pathetic but now you have just crowned yourself. I feel ashamed of belonging to the same species as you.

Sounds like you have some low impulse control due to low emotional intelligence.

Ironic, since the only one with an impulse that he can't actually control is the one with the Tourette's.

Even more ironic seeing the DeafTourette DeafTourette guy like your post.

Well, I don't know that black folks using the n-word makes it ok to say it, but it certainly keeps the word alive in folks minds in ways other slurs aren't (like a lot of the ones I mentioned, I certainly don't hear them much in casual conversation and virtually NEVER in music). Like the term "porch monkey", we are taking it back :P

NSFW for language!!!!! Please please please listen with caution!

and dang, I think this was the last really good stuff Smith wrote.

And if it's attention people want, then attention you'll get.

The only people who care about the word are race focused people (politically motivated) or people who talk like that like it's a normal course of dialogue... and that will be anyone who talks ghetto.

The chances of hearing it in any normal course of life, business, school, is going to be zero for vast majority of people.

I've heard the word more from this silly situation watching the video and reading articles or some streamers talk about it then I probably have in my whole life living life as a normal guy. Only time I hear it in a normal discussion or a racist way is in some movie with gang life, news clips, or random streamers gabbing about something like this funny event, where N isnt used in a bad racial way. But instead of saying: this guy or this man etc.... he'll say this N as a synonym. Or it's a synonym like it's a general term for anyone being a dumbass. And when the term is used, it's always a Black guy.

So if the word is used naturally, then it'll live on as everyday usage for many people.
