Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

I'm one hour in so far. I think I might like it better when she get some weapons and actually start fighting back. She's totally useless right now, I guess it makes sense considering it's still early game.
You have Leon's sections to go gun blazing, she is about hiding and being vulnerable.

Reading all those first impressions is hitting my FOMO hard!!! I still have Avowed to finish and only entered the second map + I also bought the God of War Metroidvania when it dropped. Not sure I can wait for this much longer :D
I applaud and appreciate a man who can stay the prodding fingers of FOMO -

BUUUUT…

This game is, at most, about 15-18 hours for your first play-thru…so it's not like you're dropping… Nioh 3 for Crimson Desertt…

The first hour or so is very slow and linear. Once the game opens up she's capable of defending herself. Finding more ammo than I thought. It's more in line with RE2R, although I hope she gets a shotgun at some point.

Holy shit, and it's runs like a dream with full PT on 4080 in QHD with DLSS quality.

I'm gonna destroy F12, lol.

I decided to double-dip since my Steelbook preorder is expected around the 26th of march lol. Can't play til work ends though, but probably will have to wait until tomorrow. Good impressions so far.

I'm on Standard/Classic as well because it gave me the impression - just from the slight difference in wording between it and Standard/Modern- that it might actually be more than just needing ink ribbons; like, the enemy's are tougher or what have you. I can't find any data to support this theory though.
You may be right, I was only looking at the ink ribbons and limited autosaves.

But the game does differentiate between modern difficulty, and classic difficulty. I didnt notice.

A couple of thoughts from the PS5 version :

- Leon sections = this is literally RE4 (love it).
Shame that there's no suplex this time around though 😁

- Grace sections = these are going to hurt replayability, again, this is RE, not some shit like Outlast, I don't want to hide and run away from enemies (Yes I know there is a gun also but...).

- HDR = Can't seem to be able to dial it in properly, no matter how I adjust it, it always looks somewhat washed out on my LG C2, contrast seems to be missing.

- Haptics (since some users have been asking of it) are pretty OK, it's not the best implementation but you can feel the rain hitting the character, bumping on objects etc...

- Environments look beautiful but, again (i.e, like in all RE games) they're extremely static - can't shoot windows, can't shoot pots etc etc, there's zero interaction, I suppose this graphics come at a cost.

- The sizzling/crawling/boiling effect/side effect is real, I don't know if it can be fixed but it's kind of distracting, PSSR2 implementation (like a few people suggested) my arse.

Love how the blood splatters and corpses persist indefinitely, place is starting to look like a slaughterhouse lol. CAPCOM seems to have been inspired by a mechanic in Miami's 'The Evil Within', I dig it 👌

So far I must say that the improvements coming from Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 into Requiem are incredible. The shooting, in particular, feels almost real, every bullet has weight, every impact on an enemy looks and sounds brutally convincing. The way the zombies react, stagger, and get damaged is executed with such precision that it makes the combat feels intense and sharp

I dont know how else to describe but the gunplay is fantastic and the weapon sound really helps making it feel disturbingly real

And one more thing, the way Leon reloads the weapon reminds me of John Wick. Very well done ✅

Agreed. Capcom could easily just give us a new RE2R with a new story and it would sell like hotcakes but they went above and beyond. They deserve all the success for not cashing in like Ubisoft with their sequels.

The visuals are insane on PS5 Pro with OLED TV. HOLY FUCKING SHIT BALLS

It all looks so crisp. Lighting, shadows, textures. Everything feels so realistic. The gore and atmosphere too it all feels very next gen.

I've barely got a few hours in but dare I say I'm enjoying it more than the RE2 / 4 remakes? Yes.

Good to see so many of you picking this one up! I'd usually grab it day one, but I've got to keep a closer eye on finances over the next couple years and so £50+ day one releases are out for a bit. I'll hopefully pick this one up a bit later in the year, these usually drop to £20-30 quite quickly from memory. Those Leon sections look fucking awesome!

Man the tension during

during the encouenter with the monster in that hospital while playing with Grace is crazy, re7 levels of tension

I'm having trouble getting good performance on 4k/high rt/dlss quality/everything else maxed on a 4080 Super 7800x3D. I'm getting an extremely choppy 70-80fps during the opening segment. Any higher end users have a link to a graphics setting guide that is giving you smooth and stable 60fps on 4k/maxed?
I had the same stuttering issues over 60fps that seemed to go away when setting DLSS to Auto, and fps to 60. It's not ideal, but i'd rather play 60fps locked than 70-80 unlocked with stutter

You saying we got the John Wick game even before the game actually came out?

Yikes, it is pretty difficult playing as Grace on max difficulty, you get way more zombies than you get resources to fight them.

About two hours into Grace's campaign and I'm digging it more and more as the game opens up with more mechanics. Gonna reload from a previous save so I can manage my resources better, though.

Also, for those intimidated by the idea of ink ribbons on Classic difficulty: don't be. Ink ribbons are plentiful so far, and you can craft your own as well.

WTH! I click on play on steam and nothing happens. Steam says the game is running but it doesn't launch. No matter how long I wait.
Is anyone else facing this issue? I have 9800x3d, 5080.

Leon once again coming through with the legendary one-liners lmao. Gideon is such a great villain, God damn.

Edit: when I started that big Grace chapter the progression showed 22%, finished it and it's now only 26% starting the next Leon chapter. The way things are going this is easily a 20+ hour game if you're fully exploring and getting everything you possibly can (and why wouldn't you be?) but let's see how it all plays out.

In Code Veronica remake they should expand Rockfort Island and have it be like Umbrella's Isla Sorna. Umbrella's testing ground where the monsters now roam free

Fucking shit guys, you are making me consider double dipping for PS5Pro in addition to my PC version when you are praising how good it looks.

I thought you said it was to expensive.... And was going to wait.
