Marathon |OT| A Shell of its Former Self.

Playing this game solo is like playing Dark Souls for the 1st time. It's brutal, but you keep coming back. Then.....it clicks. I still prefer Arc Raiders, but this will stay in my rotation... as long as it is alive.

Oh ffs 😂

Reasoning? Like I said with my meager time with the server slam, really love the presentation and feel of the game, I have 2 weeks until Crimson Desert drops, got my plat trophy for RE9, best to jump in when everything is still fresh and many are still learning the ropes. At $40 even if it doesn't end up clicking it's no big deal.

Also, I play fuck ton of games across so many different genres but extraction is completely foreign to me, need to figure out whether it's my thing or not for future reference.

It's a lot of a fun.

Team V11 Punch!
Found a green V11 Punch last night and have been loving it.

Why is that a positive?

Wasn't bungie trolled to hell and beyond for their ridicolous aim assist?
I fucking hate the aim assist and how strong it is. I turn it off in any game I play and this game you can't (unless I'm missing the setting).

Vault space struggle is real with all the free slam and level up packages.

Think I'm at less than 50% extract rate. Glad they didn't pussy out on the difficulty.

What's the verdict on this game for those have sunk a lot of time into it (whether in the server slam or full release - even though it just came out)? Is it worth the $40 or wait until the $20ish price point? I'm currently playing Re4R, then Requiem, but I kjnd of have a PvP itch and thinking this may fit that?

Its about as hardcore a shooter can get for console. Its not for everyone and its very punishing. I love it, well worth £35.

Oops.

Thought I was on the Pokopia thread 😂

On my 2nd ever run I successfully exfiled, took out another runner at the extraction point who was already waiting there, a second runner started taking pot shots from a distance, I just crouched behind the beacon lol

Got damn, 3 successful exfils in a row playing solo with Triage, last one was a guarded exfil, intense firefight but I got it done, completed the Nucal contract in the tick infested building too 👌

Edit: also called in a supply drop this run, got some blue and purple loot ftw

I played it yesterday but what is this....
- menus are overwhelming
- i have no idea what the items are
- i have no idea what item/loot is good and need to pick it up
- how do you play with others? Is there no random squad up options?

Gameplay feels much slower than BF6 for example or even AR

I like and hate that feeling.

I feel like when I played by first solo, I was hiding from other players when I saw some of them running around and as I was stealing some stuff it was difficult to understand what I was taking so I would have to go hide somewhere to read in a menu what the item was lol

But then I would also have to remember I'm also hiding from the UESC lol

So overall I actually like the overwhelming and a brand new feeling of not really knowing what everything is because it actually makes the experience feel that much alien. Only later was able to learn the significance of the things I will stealing. I was able to get it back to expand my storage, What I was able to get some attachments to a gun I like.

These days I rarely jump into an experience I'm not familiar with, Most of the games that I normally averagely play like Resident Evil yakuza persona etc All have grounded Expectations and dated core concepts that are deeply familiar , I'm at that age where I just wanna jump right into the fucking fun, It's why I was okay with battlefield 6 not really introducing that many new elements and keeping that core concept pretty tight

But once in a while I do like to play something experience something I did not play before even if it means being overwhelmed by a bunch of random shit lol

I was on the menu screen for the longest time trying to figure out what was going on with selecting a shell, Trying to see what could be customize in a differences between those classes, Trying to see what saves in your person and what saves in the vault.

Sometimes it's fun to get out of that comfort zone. We will learn all of this together bruv

Before you start a run, you'll see an option to play with a crew or not. Playing solo is more dangerous as everyone else in the world is a potential enemy. I only came across a few people that didn't shot and just said hi with the like the default chat thing lol I choose not to shoot anyone and just steal and do the mission and escape etc.

In terms of squading up, I don't know how to do that just yet.

I was doing so good exfiling last night- like 5/6. I started to wonder if the servers were near empty or something. lol
Compared to beta i was prob 0-6 at this point.

In love with presentation of this game man, everything is super slick, music is so good, I'm reading through every single codex entry. Metric fuck ton of challenges to take on too outside of the contracts, lots to dig into 👌

What about rewarding good aim in a freakin competitive fps?
There's a million PvP games that reward thumb skill over positioning and planning.

Chess > Thumb wrestling

Outsmarting (or being outsmarted) is more interesting than testing lizard brain reaction times.

on PC is there no option for frame gen/raytracing? i can enable DLSS but i'm only getting 160-210fps :(

also DLSS seems to be broken? going down to ultra performance from quality there is no improvement. it's definitely not my CPU or GPU holding me back lol.

It's weird like that to me too, just a 3060Ti but no matter what I do it's the same 70-80 fps. 1440p, 1080p, no matter what. And no, I'm not using the "target framerate" toggle.

Just saw a clip of someone using Thief's grapple on a teammate's drone and they basically got carried across the map for as long as the drone had juice.

lol I'm in the same ball park

Currently playing RE9, will play Yakuza 3 remake next, will play Crimson Desert day 1 etc

I don't play as much MP as I did generations ago, these days the only MP I actually play is the BF series, so this game is very new to me in regards to extraction shooters.

The things I love in dystopian RPG type worlds like Fallout exist in this, like searching thru a bunch of random loot wondering how this world go like this etc and then the PVE aspect is understood, but the PVP, like some can be friendly and some can be foes is also really fun and different (for me that is)

So, I like the change of pace before I get back into the same ole same ole lol

Doing my best to ignore all the ridiculous CCU obsession talks and hopes that this and Bungie fails. I'm having a lot of fun with this, and I can't help but think content will only get better and better. Especially with Bungie being so stern about datamining and all. It's hard not to be excited about its future. I just hope it gets there okay. It's really dependent on so many variables that we have no insight on. 🤞

I think the biggest negative I have right now is the battle pass and the monetization around all that. Which of course strictly cosmetic, don't need to partake, etc. It just definitely feels like it could be better, and it probably NEEDs to be. But to be quite honest, I'm not entirely sure how easy it is to acquire silk. Is it just provided when you rank up? Or are different increments tied to objectives and ranks?

It's all on a spectrum. You can slide the values anywhere on the line. Obviously both are still tested, to varying degrees, in every PvP shooter.

Widowmaker is a glass cannon with a repositioning hook and alert mines. She just has one very powerful shot if you can aim well enough. I find this challenge more rewarding than say, figuring out where to put a turret or where to stand and wait, because it's keeping both my tactics and action brain engaged in tandem.

I do think there should be games and characters to allow people who can't aim to participate though!

I love the game but Bungie fumbled this game in my eyes in a major way for me personally that pisses me off:

They did not listen to 90% of the feedback given.

I don't mean me personally what I said to improve but literally the complaints you've seen en masse like UI, the shit battle pass, etc were given to them 8 months ago or more.

Now they act like oh we hear you we will work on that. Fuck you and your echo chamber.

Already extracted two times in Solo Queue with other players. Doing multiple crouches seems to be understood by other players as non hostile.
