Marathon |OT| A Shell of its Former Self.

Was up way too late last night definitely feeling it this morning. Had an absolute blast playing in a squad. Really like how it all comes together. Think I finished at level 12. I really don't understand all the negativity. Game is fire.
 
I was worried about self revives, but i dont think i ever found one during my session today. I looted 1 or 2 from someone, but not on the map

They added more early on. I'm constantly bartering them now.

Don't sleep on Sparkleaf. 2 gets you on advanced shield recharger once you unlock it. Cheap as chips.

I have 5, but in solos you'll never get one off except rare instances like enemy dealing with something else or a lot of distance between you two.

That said I had a hilarious kill yesterday where I was in a 1v1 with a guy. Put a claymore down by me, engaged, he downs me I crawl around corner, he blows himself up and I revive myself.

Trolling.
 
Been playing and having a good time, the contract system and factions seem way more integrated than I've seen other extractions do and the upgrades from each one makes you want to switch based on the playstyles etc, interesting to see if it stays alive
 
Found a marathon symbol screen showing a bit of a map location. Went to where it hinted at. Sound played at new screen and a video of the archive live feed played with what seem to be Durandal hive mind giant AI.
 
Another day another slow grind. Made some progress with faction missions but still missing out on tons of loot because I keep having randos just insta die, leaving me to contend with full teams for the remainder of the match. I don't blame 'em as the TTK is kind of weird at times but still... I think tomorrow I will just go at it solo.

Man I got another outpost exfil with 0 seconds left on the final exfil in overtime.

Did 3 kills and did the complex Mida contract.

Running on pure dopamine.

That was awesome. Got wrecked a couple times but we locked in and ended up giving better than we got.

And yet another reminder for anyone looking for group, give clarky clarky your Bungie ID and he'll add it to second post in this thread. I'll take all the help I can get.

Yeah we got goosed here and there but I'm glad a got a few kills and we got some missions done. 🤘

Haven't had a chance to play Outpost yet. Do people run free kits on that map or does it incentivize players to gear up?

Free kits dont stand a chance in any map once people start gearing up.

Rooks will be the ones to watch. Have you seen the faction upgrades you get? Will be the shell to use for farming.
 
Man how do you get exfil clearance on outpost?

Also I found the way into pinwheel but also need clearance for that too.

Edit: 4th map 4% according to in game monitors.

Yeah, I saw all the Rook upgrades. I'm definitely going to be using him a lot but I suspect my first few weeks will be spent getting all my faction upgrades maxed out. I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of him in the 2nd half of the season.

Can't wait to see how the next few weeks play out.
 
Fucking hell I love this game.

I had some really good runs today. Night and day difference with coms from the server slam. I had a few people talk but now I think I've only had one or two lobbies today where nobody talked at least on PS5.

Lucid was always fucking nuts at Halo so it doesn't surprise me but still...goddamn.

That looks so weirdly close to how I died the other day that I had to double check my name wasn't there. That reminds me of a time me and my buddy were playing PUBG and bombing it down the desert map on a bike and almost ran over these two dudes looting. Those two ended up being fucking Dr Disrepect and TSM Viss. About 5 minutes later Viss pushed our building and absolutely destroyed our entire team in like 15 seconds. Good times.

The best part was I used to watch Viss and BreaK play PUBG all the time and I used to watch a stream on mute while we played. I was literally watching Viss's stream and immediately grabbed my roommate and was like dude we just got shredded and I almost watched it live.

Not gonna lie, didn't have a clue what was going on. The two randoms I was with seem to know what they where doing we ended up at the top with that locked exfil, seemed like they where looking for something but we had to bail at the end and take the regular exit outside right at the death.

It was total glorious chaos, was like being in a star wars movie at points.

Outpost runs like ass btw. Just a warning. Like a 30% hit.

Hopefully they can make some improvements.
 
Seeing how people are interacting with Marathon right now, it could be a whole new ball game and huge meme potential in a couple weeks when Cryo Archive releases.
 
Game has fully clicked with me after tonights runs. Solos is a wild ride. Struggling to get through the faction stuff. Contracts are not easy in Solo, but doable. Net positive on Extractions tonight.
 
Love the contracts where you have to complete multiple steps in a single raid.

Also love playing Vandal and running into another Vandal, us both missing our arm cannon shots and then spraying wildly (I won, barely).

Also I swear every time I go to Perimeter North Relay there's always a corner camper Recon in the smaller buildings outside, they miss every shot and I whip around and blast them.
 
Was up until almost 3am, been playing 100% solo, still haven't even touched anything but Perimeter, the game is fucking glorious. The presentation , the music, the otherworldly sound design, the gunplay, the gunplay, the GUN. PLAY.

Now if *I'm* saying it you know you can take it to the bank. Why? Since this game was first announced I've said I have no interest in "GaaS garbage", I've repeatedly said Bungie was the worst mistake Sony ever made (could still turn out to be true lol). 95% of the games I play are single player and this is my first time dipping my toes in the extraction shooter genre.

I am having an absolute blast, the world is intriguing and immersive, looks gorgeous, runs beautifully on my Pro. Lots to unlock, lots of "just one more run" energy, lots of intense moments, a palpable sense of danger, sweaty armpits, oh yes.

Who knows if the game will have legs, I'm just happy I gave it a chance and took the plunge. You can *absolutely* enjoy this as a solo experience. The game can be unforgiving, much of it will seem obtuse when first starting out. After a few hours it will all just click and make sense, you will be locked in and never want to leave.

It is glorious. Hit up me and clarky and the rest of us in post #2 if you decide to take the plunge into trios. I've been splitting my time 50-50 so far. Solo and trios are awesome and very different experiences, but imo you can tell the original VISION was for trios. Announcing the game without a solo queue may have been misguided, but I can almost see why Bungie wanted it that way. Of course adding solo queue was a no-brainer, but the game really comes alive with a good team who's communicating well. It'll be interesting to see if the endgame content will be doable solo or not.

If this is Bungie's last ride, fleecing Sony for $3.6 billion so they could make their weird extraction shooter passion project is one hell of a way to go out.

The full (well Vol 1) soundtrack went up today I believe. I've listed to Code Race so many times so I'm excited to give it a listen.

I'm sure it's up on Spotify as well but I only use Apple Music

No.

It uses PSSR similar to DLAA. Game is 5K on Pro and downsampled to 4K.
