Marathon |OT| A Shell of its Former Self.

Had a good team just now.

We were about to extract at the 10 minute mark and decide to go for a boss. It was the shield boss, but no idea on name.
We got close to wiping a few times, but we held off and I finished the boss off with a pistol I picked up when my main weapons ran out of ammo.
He dropped three purple items: a valuable worth 4k, a Demolition HMG, and a purple shield. I got the HMG.

The entire fight I was worried another team would roll up, but we didn't see anyone the entire match

ANOTHER great match with randoms.

Wiped a team as they were extracting. This team had insane loot on them. The guy I downed had almost entirely blue gear and like 5 stacks of healing and shields lol.

I haven't been there yet, what's the difference in it?
Higher level bots, map has fire rain so you periodically need to get inside, tons of places you can't access without keys, AND to exfil you need to find a rare key or else you'll be waiting to do the final minute last exfil scramble to get out alive.

There are a bunch of weapons that i havent even found. I dont think i ever used the heavy assault rifle for example, or the other 2 shotguns and i only found the halo BR weapon today, but it was from another player. Are these weapons extra rare?

Goddamn that outpost level is rough, AI is insanely over powered and everyone is super kitted out. So far i've only really played with elitist high level douche bags that only care about their own shit. Not the level for me yet i'm gonna go back to the earlier peasant stages.

I decided to run some solos since my girlfriend was watching tv (my desk setup is in the living room so I didn't want the tv in the mic) and this shit is stressful.

First four runs probably lasted 5 minutes total because I died immediately. Twice to bots where without a team you really do get fucked hard immediately (I didn't want to take in good gear so I took in sponsored kits), once to a player 20 seconds in who must have spawned like 100ft away, and again to some dude sitting in a corner with a knife.

Fifth run went better. I decided to just run towards gunfire and saw a Vandal fighting bots near a set of windows by a cliff and took a chance to third party him (met with a good old "you just sitting there man? Fuck you") went down to get there and loot him and died to another player who probably watched it all happen.

Next run did the same thing and killed two players. Got jump scared by a Recons bot and grappled my ass out of there and extracted.

Last run killed a player and then got in an Assassin off with a player during the downtime where there are no extracts. We both got good hits in and ran off. As soon as that extract popped up I busted my ass over and hit it. As soon as the timer hit I popped that smoke and last minute that motherfucker also slide in.

Not mad.

Still prefer team play but I wanted to try solos while she was watching tv. I'll try to hop in with you guys later.

Only Lvl 17 and I know I haven't been playing the way I should (maximizing quests and stuff but I'm just trying to learn maps and having some casual fun)

I have a gold version of that halo BR. It's not very good imo compared to brrt for burst fire. It's also shit at range for me. Idk just not a good gun. So many other things that can do it's just better.

Don't shame my ADD. I wanted to use a triage one for launch month but the only good image of him online is being used on here by a poster already.

Went with this official Bungie shell art instead. Gotta rep Marathon!

Check your schema on the right in armory you may have more guns you can buy thank you think. I have the 15k credits line rifle to buy but I haven't spent the cash. Maybe get it for the archive.

This assault rifle?

I picked it up once I think but I died before I could use it extract it.

Also on the schema thing. I feel like we shouldn't have to pay for them. It should be like a free thing if we have it IMO.

Yeah that one
Which BR are you talking about?

I haven't used any burst rifles yet. I have a Volley rifle in my vault but I'm afraid to take it out and lose it. The wiki says it's burst but also says semiautomatic so I'm unsure which it is.

Mintblitz was talking about one of the DMRs being absolutely broke but I can't remember which one it is.

This one

This is exactly what many complained about in every phase of alpha testing and it never got addressed.

I would personally change the entire icon to be a head for head, a giant body for body, boots for shoes.

Keep the grey, green, blue etc rarities.

Issue is you can get two of the exact same grey and one variant has an extra ability but same stat boosts.

Solution? Just get rid of the non ability ones from game. Just one less thing to read without sacrificing much.

Yeah that's the one I have that I don't want to take in. It's got 3/4 mods on it as well.

I just don't want to use it, love it, and lose it.
Dunno i dont have that gear fear in this game. Im swimming in money, my vault is full and sometimes im going in with a sponsored kit, killing a player 2 minutes in and walking out fully kitted. Its pretty easy to get good gear in this game. Its not like arc where everyone running around with trash :D Also going in with grey weapon and finding good attachments and coming out with a purple one feels damn good

Easy come easy go. If you don't use it whats the point in having it?

You find other, much better ones along the way. I find any thing cool and its immediately getting used. Just not with randoms.

Yeah, I guess part of it is that I've only found one of them.
I like having a variety of guns in my vault to use and I always keep multiple V75 SCARs and V22 Volt Throwers in there as the volt guns are my jam and I prefer them to everything else.

I've killed more runners with Volt Throwers and that common ass LMG (Retaliator?) than anything else. The weapon I absolutely fucking despise? Overrun AR. Fuck that shit. Every time I take a sponsored kit with that thing I replace it as soon as I can.

What is everyone's favorite shell so far?

Mine has been Thief. Having the drone is great, but just grappling up to rooftops will win most fights alone.

Thief is my top choice for everything.
Triage would be my second choice for team play.
Assassin would be my second choice for solo play.

I'm on PS5 and don't use a headset.
Is it true voice comms come through on controller? And if so, is there anyway for them to come through on the TV?
I've just tried this and the comms do come through the controller but there is no way to change it.
FFS Bungie!

Did you try doing it through game bar or whatever it's called when you press the PX button and go to controller output/input?

Sorry last tweet of the day but apparently you can get fuckin' BONKED by the clanker ships lol:

"Herbie" disconnected so fast his shell didn't even notice it and kept crawling. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

There's no option to divert the comms there.
I have a feeling it's an option that Bungie will need to put into their settings.

If you want to participate in unlocking the raid map:

Find the green monitor outside of overflow on perimeter in a small house similar to the tutorial house.

This will create a map saying to go to north west of the map in a building NW of north relay.

Thats it. Thats what the community is doing in discord and it's working for now.

After the godawful randoms I had today I decided to take after some of you here and just go solo for my last round of the night...

Nothing crazy, didn't get my contract done, but because I was going slow and carefully, I managed to down a fellow assassin with two bursts from my BRRT... Got his sweet gear AND cache coordinates from him. Got a blue gun from that, upgraded my current gun to blue as well, and managed to leave through the guarded exfil using my smoke and another assassin's smoke, downed someone in the process (which is a challenge apparently, to use someone else's smoke and get a down), and exfil'd. Easy 4.5k exfil.

I might just stick with solos since I don't want to hold anyone back with my miclessness lol

Solos let me dictate the pace, where to go, and if I lose it's all on me. I win most 1v1s so I prefer it.
