I dont know about that. Thanks to UE5, we have seen previously B and C tier studios, chinese and korean developers, and small 20-30 person dev teams routinely outdo big Sony and MS studios in graphics rendering. The trend will only continue next gen when path tracing becomes viable on consoles.
Because RT adoption was slow. The studios who went to UE5 asap have made games really fast. Bloober is a good example. Massive too. Sony studios never adopted RT and you can see they take longer to make the the most basic DLC looking sequels. meanwhile Massive made two new IPs in the same amount of time.I'll believe it when I see it. They were telling me at the start of this gen that ray tracing would make development cheaper, faster, and easier. What actually happened is that most games now need double the work on lighting for RT and non-RT versions. I'm going to need some serious convincing that path tracing [possibly] going mainstream will change the trajectory we've been on for decades. Also I love you but your first and third gifs are games that aren't even out yetis the middle one Delta Force? Didn't play that one.
What I am expecting is more Expedition 33-tier games. Small teams using off the shelf tech to make focused games that don't blow my mind but punch well above their weight.
I do like seeing the legacy AAA get humiliated by up and coming smaller studios but only to a point. I really want legacy AAA to get their shit together.
Somebody keeps leaving laughing emojis on comments. They must be a very happy person!
The comment in that tweet is needlessly antagonistic, but the gif seems self-evident that it's the same model with lighting and color/"makeup" changes.
If the developers created a model from scratch, they would get the same result. It's like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, they are all essentially the same. What changes is the fine-tuning.
And this is where the developer will come in and vary the results. They can make numerous modifications to the color scheme, as well as make the model ignore objects. I explained this to the friend above, but he refused to understand. Light in games is pixels, and the way they appear is simply brightness and color.
Anyone who has ever edited a photo will notice that with just a few adjustments, you can completely change a picture.

Am i missing something or did the dude just simply show RT on vs RT off and tried to present RT result as if it was dlss5, which its not? This looks way more convincing that what that demo showed.
Crucially important video.
Discourse is fucking dead.
Bad faith interpretation. Watch the video please. When people push back against your opinion, all of a sudden discourse is dead. When you were pushing back against their opinions, discourse was as expected.

I'm looking forward to it, hopefully it has good story.
That's not an argument, at least in reply to that tweet I posted showing Grace with DLSS 5 vs without. In what way are Grace's facial structure and features demonstrably different in the DLSS 5 frame vs without?Between people being blind as a bat....
and fools pretending primitive brightness sliders or the way light is presented in pixelform had in any way shape or form anything to do with the issue of lightsource determination which is a classic ill-posed inverse rendering issue approaching NP hard in many cases (nvidia probably uses a cheaper "learned lighting" approach which is basically "guess that looks okay")....
I´d gladly use puke emojis, but unfortunately we don´t have those.
I have no interest in watching a video with such a sensationalist title. You should be perfectly capable of summarizing your thoughts on the manner without having to resort to a youtube video to express your ideas.Bad faith interpretation. Watch the video please.
If you can`t see the obvious disparity in that gif, then look at the original model in the model viewer on the last few pages of this thread. I think slimy posted it. That is the perfectly lit "ground truth" as it`s in the game and it has nothing...absolutely nothing to do with the version DLSS5 ...imagines.That's not an argument, at least in reply to that tweet I posted showing Grace with DLSS 5 vs without. Apparently the game clearly doesn't have a good story, and the quests are basically the same as in an MMO, so they're not very interesting.I'm looking forward to it, hopefully it has good story.

Someone is sensitive. And of course, "Discourse is dead".
Ah man…Yeah I just read the reviews, I'm kind of disappointed, but I'm still in on the game overall, maybe I'll wait for a sale discount. Thanks btw.Apparently the game clearly doesn't have a good story, and the quests are basically the same as in an MMO, so they're not very interesting.
I'll probably do the same as you. I'm still interested in the game, but it's over 100 hours long, and if the story and quests aren't interesting, it's difficult for me to invest that much time in a game.Ah man…Yeah I just read the reviews, I'm kind of disappointed, but I'm still in on the game overall, maybe I'll wait for a sale discount. Obviously, there are differences or else we wouldn't be talking about it. What I'm saying is her features and structure are unchanged. people complaining about the issues with low RT resolutions haven`t seen what Jensen-The-Jacket-Huang got in store for them next.
Alex goes into a bit more detail on this in the latest video.Obviously, there are differences or else we wouldn't be talking about it. What I'm saying is her features and structure are unchanged. Same thing that happens in real life when makeup and lighting changes our perception:

We will love this tech when they fix it...The most impressive thing with DLSS5 is what it does for NPC's
I mean fucking WOW
We're looking at a 2 generation difference here

You're all going to love this tech when you see it running in 4K in front of you.
A.I. itself is great, but pretty dystopian at the same time...I feel like the AI hate is almost an Olympic level performative act at this point. Its borderline hilarious to listen to people speak of AI tools like its the devil himself.

This one?You need to have your eyes checked for glaucoma........
The faceswap DLSS5 did especially for grace is basically the talk of the hour and there are still people like you going "uh it`s just makeup and lighting".......
Way lower than I thought!!
Ive seen this myself when making videos of Sydney Sweeney.
Yeah, I'm just done.Nice edit, by the way.
Agreed. On the plus side, we made each other's days just a little bit worse. Same time next week?Yeah, I'm just done.
"It's just the lighting" "lens distortion" "the full moon" ...
The face swap has been acknowledged and is one if not the biggest single issue people have with this tech, and yet..Here. We. Are.
Pointless to continue talking.
Yeah I vividly remember you saying the game will not be received well by the journalists. Read on Twitter someone saying the main reason why the game didn't review well was because the game is hella big and you need to take your time with it to properly appreciate it, whilst these journalists speedran the game which makes sense!!yep. But i kinda expected that western journalists would rate it harshly. Wukong ended up at 81 iirc which is insanely low for a game of that caliber. western journalists have different standards for these new developers while jerking off to devs who make last gen looking DLCs.
I am still in. If it turns out to be flawed, fine. Id rather play an ambitious but flawed game than a safe risk averse sequel. Liked plenty of those games last gen. Days Gone (70), Death stranding (First one was at 81), The Last Guardian (only 82!), Destiny, Mad Max (69) and Gran Turismo Sport among others.
What the fuck game is this? Why dont we have more racing games with this level of intense cinematography? This looks fucking phenomenal!
Came to post this. Very impressive. From the other thread on Crimson Desert's benchmarks:

This is 4K native. With DLSS everyone will be enjoying the path traced glory of the game.
Yeah it is, but man, how the fuck is the 4060 8GB ahead of 4070 and 5070?Came to post this. Very impressive.
Going to run this at 4k dlss quality and ray reconstruction. i dont think this is enabled in these benchmarks.
Nah you just need to stop being lazy and summarize your thoughts on the matter. Instead, you've chosen to attempt to waste people's time by referencing a video with a 100% false premise as the title.Hence why your 1st reply is dead on point proving that discourse is volatile. Exactly!Typically every gen we are able to get last gen's linear game graphics in an open world setting. And then some. The same thing will happen next gen. It's a matter of graphics horsepower and we should have enough next gen especially if the 10-12x ray tracing improvements are real. Nanite is already letting devs push movie quality assets in games. path tracing will make them look real life. Nanite is already solving issues where worlds and games get bigger. the vram requirements for Nanite are relatively low. Nanite handles distant geometry without destroying the vram and gpu budget. devs dont have to sit there making different LODs for everything. UE5 editor literally lets them bring in raw movie quality assets into the game seamlessly.
And Matrix isnt just a trailer. I played it for like 30 hours. It's as real as it gets. Perhaps too much for PS5, but the PS6 should be able to do it easily in a game.
These AI guys are all trying to sell you a bill of goods. It's in their interest to do so since they have put in literally over a trillion dollars into AI investments. Up until a few years ago, the same people were pushing ray tracing, path tracing, AI upscaling, virtualized geometry and now all of a sudden they are like nah, lets throw away all of that and let my one size fits all AI model make up the graphics for you??? It is a scam. Do not fall for it.

Lots of discourse is happening regarding DLSS5. There is a certain faction that is falsely trying to influence the narrative by suggesting discourse is dead. Why? Because you're upset that people don't agree with your opinions and the general sentiment on the technology is negative.
There is a great link there to the reddit post, everyone should check it out
The faces have improved a lot, but the rest of it is not that "realistic" anymore.
Tame rats with a flute
38% improvement on 1% lows and 39% on avg fps between 4080 and 4090 is already huge gap, but:From the other thread on Crimson Desert's benchmarks:
