I still think Wolverine will eventually be on PC

This is a Disney IP, and they have a vested interest in having the game be accessible to as many ppl as possible and make bucket loads of money. If Sony had their way MLB The Show would be only a Playstation exclusive, but the MLB didn't want that.

Possibly as Sony still have announced nothing. They can do whatever they want.

But according to the contract they are not mandated to released those games on PC.
If Disney says to put it on best believe they will besides you don't think if they do the epic deal they won't want it on the epic store?

Perhaps it's Marvel itself that, as part of the contract, wants at least a PC port (if not for other consoles, who knows). Money has no smell or colour.

I mean, doesn't Disney take a cut from the sales, even if it's digital, so the amount sold will have to be more to compensate the % they take, so I won't be surprised if they do a PC release a year or 2 down the line.

Is it even up to Sony? That Marvel contract was very one sided, and not so much in Sony's favor, if I remember correctly.
I think it had quite significant minimum revenue for games, so if they don't hit that on PS then they'd either need to pay it themselves or put the game on PC to recoup

If Jean Grey really looks like in the leaks...than we will have a Spiderman2 situation. In other words...just keep it ps bro's! Its all yours for you alone! ;)

If ghost of Yoti or whatever it's called doesn't come first. Wolverine isn't coming ..

And honestly speaking ? I am kinda glad. It gives me a purpose to own a PlayStation console.

I love my PC but I love console exclusives.

Kinda gives more value to the IP then whoring it around for every platform possible

Ghost Yotei is fully owned by Sony, Wolverine is not.

Total sales/money is more important to Disney than accessibility IMO, because meaningful visibility is proportional to the copies sold at full price.

Selling half a million copies on PC from £70 - £20 at the expense of PlayStation gamers initially baulking at asking pricing of £70 knowing they will be listening to DF tell them how much better and faster it looks on RTX 5070ti PC or higher a few months later isn't good business if 2m-4m PlayStation gamers sleep on it, buy or borrow from a friend - which has been my strategy since Returnal dropped on PC.

I'm now at a stage that unless PlayStation formally announce full exclusivity on a game I'm assuming it is coming to PC, and am then sleeping on it, like I am with Yotei, and will with Saros and Wolverine. PlayStation seemingly want to have their cake and eat it, wanting customers to assume no information means exclusivity - like it did in PS3 gen - but the blindsiding they've done in devaluing their first party and previous third party exclusives games like Returnal with shadow PC drops means I'm not falling for that, and in that sense I agree with the OP, without confirmation from PlayStation Wolverine is still on course to be on PC too.

Its their only gaming partner which make marvel significantly money at all. So i doubt they would care too much.

If you want to play Saros, Wolverine and GTA6. Get a PS5. Otherwise, have fun waiting years and port begging.
And if you want to Play SC or Squadron 42 and Half life Alyx ?

Gears 5 ?
Sunset overdrive ?
Ori games ?
quantum break?
halo infinite

How long they waited for Horizon 5 on PS5?

it sold 5 million on PS5 in a short time !
more then lets say death stranding 2

It seems they can wait?

Yea it's almost like each platform offers something and people need to decide what to invest in based on that.

But who the hell wants to play Quantum Break or Shitfinite in 2026

the plan is the plan until it is no longer the plan.
Since we have no official statements we simply don`t know.
The "no more pc ports" leaks come from rather trustworthy sources, though.
Considering how uninterested the PC crowd in general seemed to be... doesn`t really matter much either way.

Some will get in on PS5, other people will keep waiting forever for the PC version because it's coming any day now and others will not buy it anywhere. Who cares, you do you.

From the 2023 Insominiac leak

Key Details of the Agreement & Future Plans:
  • Wolverine & X-Men Exclusivity: The agreement, lasting through 2035, grants Sony/Insomniac exclusive rights to develop X-Men console and PC games.
  • PC Ports (Nixxes Collaboration): While the games are exclusive to PlayStation at launch, they are expected to arrive on PC later, often in collaboration with Nixxes Software. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for a PC release on January 30, 2025.
  • Continued Partnership: Marvel Games has stated they will work with Insomniac for "many years to come," with projects stretching toward the late 2020s and early 2030s.
  • Upcoming Projects: Following the success of the Spider-Man series, Insomniac is developing Marvel's Wolverine (expected 2026) and has further X-Men projects planned.
  • Limitations on Others: Under the agreement, Marvel cannot announce other X-Men games from other publishers for consoles or PC during the contract term, though X-Men characters can appear in broader, "multi-family" Marvel games.
The deal mentioned that to continue the deal they had to reach as I remember minimum 6M copies in PS+PC starting to count in the initial PS release.

Which implies that the game was planned in the deal to be released first on PS and later in PC, pretty likely less than a year later.

We have no idea what's in Sony's contract with Marvel
We have, as the OP mentions it was leaked in the Insomniac leak.

People act like these contracts are written on stone tablets and put in front of the temple like in Ancient Greece. No, Sony can call up Marvel and they can revise the agreement.
Yes, they can change/terninate. That's why they include clauses like in this case on that said that if it drops in Sony's side, Sony would still have to spend the $621M (as I remember that was the number) they commited to spend in the I think it was first 3 Wolverine/X-Men games plus a $9M termination fee.

Developed and published by Sony. They have control over it.

THem releasing spider man 1 and 2 was a choice. Not forced to do it
Time will tell Sony hasn't officially said that it's not coming to PC at some point. So far from what's been in the leaked document has came to fruition more so than insiders speculating Sonys moves. Of course Sony won't say anything because they want the sales on PlayStation consoles and the ability to shadow drop on PC.

I wouldn't expect it. That way, hey, if it ever happens, cool! If it doesn't, well, at least you were prepared! It's the least you can do until you know for sure, don't allow yourself to get hyped on speculation. Then you're potentially allowing yourself to get disappointed.

Jason is rarely wrong if ever. Not a big fan of this dude but I give credits where it's due. I am 100% confident that all single player games on PC are not gonna happen outside of maybe some multi player games or the MLB the show or whatever.

I kinda gave up hope when they didn't even port the highly acclaimed astro bot to PC. But they did for sack boy garbage

We don't have the full details of the contracts, we only know from the leak that Sony has the rights to release those licenses on PlayStation and PC, not that they're required to put them on PC. Considering how PlayStation's strategy was at the time, it's more likely Sony chose to bring Spider-Man 1 and 2 to PC. And we also know Marvel can't release other X-Men games while that contract is active.

At the end of the day Sony hasn't confirmed or denied in the Bloomberg report Sony denied to comment on it. So everything is speculation. Until I here Sony in their own words say they are done then they are done.

Sony still own the specific code to wolverine and spiderman. Thats the point.

Ok all marvel games that Sony has done have had a PC port including Marvel Tokon which I know is a live service game. So nothing tells me that Sony won't put Wolverine on PC other than an industry insider and not Sony themselves.

They'll probably never officially confirm that single player games on PC are over. There's no real reason for them to do so, and leaving it unconfirmed keeps the door open for future single player releases.

I think the best place to look for answers is Nixxes. They've been busy with the PC port of Death Stranding 2 and are apparently helping with Saros. I'm not sure if they were working on Yotei, but if that's the case and they've shifted into more of a support role for Sony's first party studios, then that might explain things for the foreseeable future.

A week ago, my take on the situation was that Sony wasn't too worried about losing PS5 sales or disappointed with PC performance. Instead, I thought they were more concerned about Xbox's shift toward PC and didn't want their games to be so easily accessible on a competing platform.

But now, with a five year old console priced at €650 and €900 for the Pro, it feels like they're keeping their first party games exclusive to justify the high cost. If the hardware is that expensive, they need strong incentives for people to actually buy into it.

It could go either way but its alot of smoke for sony stopping all sp games from coming over to completely turn a blind eye on it because sony hasnt confirmed anything is weird.

Why would they do like MS and say things that eventually can become blatant lies ? Like "its just 4 games" ??

The reports were out .. they will no longer launch SP games on pc .. they didn't denial so its probably true.. but they will just shut the fuck up because eventually they can change their mind again. Its that simple.
