Time to read books and use your imagination.... Remember those?

Is the $1,000 console in the room with you right now?......

You are getting awfully worked up over rumors of pricing. There is a chance it will be over $1,000, but there is also chance it will be less than that, or there are various versions with the most "powerful" one costing that much.

Only people who truly know the target price are those who are making the consoles and they have not made an official announcement yet.

I think this is a little early for an outrage thread. Let them first officially announce the pricing over $1,000.....

Im using that a 1000 dollars towards a gaming laptop which will be alot more and calling it a day. You're right OP you should boycott a 1000 dollar console when you will have to pay services and 80 dollar games on top of it. But there's too many console warriors that like ass play with Sony so they will say your broke. But hey everyone has there limits.

I'm out guys With rumors that the new Xbox might cost $1000 or more, I'm out. I work and pay for fun, but I can't tolerate electronics at that price.

I hope any company that wants to challenge AMD's console monopoly today, and make a console for up to $499 and $599 (I only compared them for boycott purposes), will succeed.

SEGA, where are you?
If anyone from the marketing or creative department reads this message, know that I'm not alone; I'm out of the $1000 console market.

Participate, let's make a boycott list, let's make a difference.
What the fuck is SEGA going to do?

It's not the price I'm worried - it's the demographic.
Console gaming seems to be becoming old men hobby these days. I'm fine because I'm old, but it's not good for the health of the industry.

I'm not even sure I got $500 use out of my launch PS5. If I can go the rest of the gen without feeling the need to purchase a PS5 exclusive, I may just stick with PC and endless amounts of retro games.

I spent 300 dollars on grok this month.

I'm not nearly good enough with money to not buy all of this shit.

I do run my hardware though. I have probably thousands of hours on PS5 and PS5 Pro, because I use them daily for youtube and gaming!

Your savior is already in the house. Nintendo will capitalize so much by this move. They are even given the green light to raise their prices to old console costs in future. 399-499 will be the next Nintendo system. Switch 2 sales will explode going forward. Power consoles players will have to move to pc centric devices and Nintendo will own the handheld market.

I can see a world where Apple gets off their ass and dips into console type games for Apple TV. But I have very little faith they will execute it properly for core gamers.

I'm out at 500 Dollars because modern games just doesn't hook.
Last game I played through was super mario world on snes.
At the time I play some advanced wars on gba. I am happy. No fucking subscriptions, no downloads, no updates, no graphics over gameplay.
Just gaming.

OK gta 6 is a thing... Hmmm...

I fucking hate faster than light travel. Who ever thought it was a good idea to give consumers access to it? It's too expensive and you go back to the past instead of normally arriving in the future like you meant. I'm starting a boycott whenever it becomes available.

Oh I don't buy them to play modern games I buy them as a primary gaming platform. I do need somewhere to play. 1000 bucks to me is not too much to spend on a platform where I will play all my games.

Hell, my current PC build is a LOT more than that and is pretty obsolete and I never use it. I've been primarily gaming on Playstation since PS4 now so I'll have to get that one at least.

If you could sell that to Microsoft maybe game streaming wouldn't suck and we wouldn't need consoles, lol.

I love reactions to things that haven't happened yet.
God damn it. I HATE the world is ending. Freaking suuucks. Water supply is gone. The moon got busted by the stupid ass meteor. Everywhere flooding because the oceans are going crazy. UGH.

Worst of all is there's no power and my phone is dying while I use the rest to post on GAF.

Paying a grand for a single purpose plastic box designed to keep you locked into a specific ecosystem.
Yep, that would indeed be stupid.

A PC however.....
You Know GIF

Not everyone wants a PC plus good luck playing those console exclusive games
As Sony`s PC experiment has proven...there actually aren`t that many who care about those outside of the hardcore fan crowd who I guess will pay whatever Sony want for their next console anyways.

You don't need to make a boycott list, a noticeable percentage of people will literally be priced out of buying consoles going forward.

In a time where the video game industry is already struggling to attract new players, the industry will get the hint the hard way.

well, the only thing worse than a $1000 console would be a $1000 console without any triple-a games not also available on the previous console... which's unfortunately equally as likely...

Waiting to see the price of Xbox magnus.
If it delivers console + PC games for 1000$ I'm "ALL IN"
If it is higher then 1100$ I'm "ALL OUT"

There's no need to be upset, OP.

If speculations become reality and Sony/MS launch 1000+ USD consoles, you don't need your little GAF boycott club to change things. I can guarantee you these things will just sit on shelves after the first couple million units because that's how big the market is for such machines.

And if that happens, chances will increase dramatically that someone at some point will look at this and say "I can do this better". Think Evercade, but a bit more sophisticated and a lot more money behind it (maybe Apple, maybe Amazon, who knows).

Me personally, I'd also buy a console for a grand in a heartbeat if it does what I want from it. And yes, in my head I'm comparing this to PC hardware prices, smartphones and so on. It's all relative.

Showing indignation now is a positive thing so that they know, both MS, AMD and Sony, as well as other technology manufacturers that can occupy this space, I swear I'd give up the PS6 for a Dreamcast 2 even if it only has a little more power than the PS5 Pro.

It's getting nauseating that we're talking 24/7 about what will happen in 2028...

I get the feeling that people on these forums aren't enjoying video games.

I agree with Yotei, and it's been a wonderful experience. Next month we have Saros, and in September, Wolverine...

But no... the important thing is what will happen with the PlayStation 6 in 2028...

In 2028, maybe some Asian will eat pangolin or chimpanzee soup and we'll have another pandemic, or maybe the aliens will finally arrive and take over all the stock for their planet, in which case the console will be worth $2,000...

Come on, let's enjoy the present and what's coming in a few months, which is wonderful. Let's enjoy that we have our health and can play.

But the debate is pointless and goes nowhere.

There are many people who don't enjoy video games; they only enjoy themselves in the mud of forums and the constant arguments.

I'd rather say it's time to go full ham on retro stuff. I just bought a DSi XL off marketplace for around 100 bucks and I'm having a blast with this thing.

Definitely no need for me to join the next generation if consoles cost 1000€+, combine that with a new TV which you'll probably need to get the most out of it and you'll end up somewhere around 5000€+ without a single game (license).

Meanwhile I got a pioneer kuro plasma, latest generation, 50" for 40€. Fuck modern stuff…

Jk 🤭

The next Xbox isn't a console, it's a fucking PC. And if it doesn't get subsidies, it'll be more expensive than a regular desktop gaming PC. Anyway, gaming is gonna get way more expensive in general over the next 2 years

Going to be a great debate if its a console or PC

Will it play MLB The Show?

Yup

Does MLB The Show have a PC version?

Nope

back before, if I heard $1000 console, i'd rather buy laptop or PC, but now... what can I say, if it's true, both are expensive ... this makes NSW2 looks cheaper option for me : /
