Meta Quest 3 | OT + Review Thread |

woaaahh
Coming to PC and Meta Quest
Tis from the Creature Feature VR Games Showcase, alongside other big & small announcements.

Here's to another decade of Anton whining he has to keep working on a game/hear from fans 😜 I'll add any non showcase news below (but I skimmed so may fumble and include something off it):

It popped up on my YouTube feed and at first I thought it was a a late april fools joke 😜
Finally we have actual hands in H3VR and not the scary Sausage Fingers he added years ago as a joke because people kept asking for hands and he hated the idea... :p

weirdest experience Alexios Alexios -- I just spotted you in a 1993 GamePro scan I was reading (Starfox issue, reading it because of other thread)

I actually forgot that SEGA ever even announced a VR project so I never recognized your avatar... fascinating piece of history.

I had a VR playing weekend.
Got all my headsets up and going trying things out and actually playing some VR games.
I noticed that Steam Link has improved to the point that it competes well with Virtual Desktop wirelessly with my Quest 3.
I don't know if my Wifi was just having a good weekend or what.
Virtual Desktop has some additional features but for just sending VR wirelessly Steam Link seems to be just fine.

Also got the PSVR2 up and connected with my PC. You need to have a really good bluetooth antenna in your PC to get the controllers to track. My older PC seemed to do best, it has a wire antenna running along the inside of the case that seems to do much better than a dongle or rabbit ears off the back of a PC motherboard. My biggest issue was getting the controllers to track. Headset tracked just fine.
Nice thing about the PSVR2 is it does not need to be continuously charged, but you have to deal with wires going into your ears for sound and across the floor.

I played a few hours of Arizona Sunshine 2. I still think this series is one of the best VR shooters.

Just bought a Quest 3s and a cable for PC link. I know nothing about VR right now, can suggest me what I've absolutely to try? Games and experiences.

Idk, VTOL VR, Pistol Whip, Asgard's Wrath 2, Batman: Arkham Shadow, Half-Life: Alyx, TWD: Saints & Sinners (not Chapter 2/Retribution), Journey of the Gods, Among Giants, Resident Evil 4, Dungeons of Eternity, Phantom: Covert Ops, Resist, Forefront, Ancient Dungeon, Lies Beneath, Swarm, Unification, Metro Awakening, Windlands 2, Amid Evil, Cosmodread, Arken Age, Vertigo 2, Roboquest VR, Blade & Sorcery, Team Beef fan ports like RTCW/Half-Life/Doom 3, mods like Half-Life 2 VR, Skyrim VR + mods, V-Racer Hoverbike, Walkabout Mini Golf, whatever works for your mood 🤷‍♂️

everything in previous post, but also Bone Lab.

Although you'll probably want to get your "VR legs" before trying something with that much free movement.

Yeah definitely from static like Pistol Whip to tame like Phantom: Covert Ops to full movement like Vertigo 2 (and cockpit/vehicle games somewhere in-between depending on intensity and speed).

Maybe also go from the indie stuff like Cosmodread, Lies Beneath and Journey of the Gods to AAA like Resident Evil 4 & Asgard's Wrath 2, they may not work vice versa (but if you go from AAA to indie in flat games that's fine, just saying).

I forgot adventures like Myst/Riven/The Room/Ghost Town/7th Guest and stuff. I think I didn't post survival stuff like Green Hell/Song in the Smoke/Medieval Dynasty either if that's your thing. There are too many VR games so, see what genres you like and go from there.

Once again, I won't post every individual update, but add any non-showcase stuff below this point.

So that Steam Deck price increase has probably pretty much cemented Quest 3 as the best value for VR for years to come, right? There's no way the Frame can compete in terms of pricing.
