There is no need for an app. Just add a bookmark to your home screen. Looks just like an app icon.
 
It's funny how quickly the retina display makes every other screen seem like crap. It's not something that I'm looking for... it jumps out at you. iPad screens looks like crap… most Android screens look like crap…
 
so im having issues with game center not registering my achievements. i reset cut the rope and got 50 stars and it didnt register the achievement and i replayed the bjorn level on peggle and after i cleared it still no achievement. do i have to remove these games from my i phone and then reload them on to get it to work?

Try signing out of game center and back in first.

I don’t know how much 3G bandwidth you have but iCloud should not be a worry as bookmarks, contacts, calendars don't use up much data at all. the bigger stuff might be documents and photos.

here’s what you can do if you’re really tight on data:

go into iCloud settings and turn off the data and documents and photo stream features. even though apple has limits on devs for how much data their apps can sync up, this setting will shut that off entirely.

iCloud -> Photo Stream - >"Photo Stream automatically uploads new photos to iCloud and downloads them to all of your devices when connected to wifi". Documents and Data can be cellular or wifi, there's a toggle under it, but Photo Stream is Wifi.

yup, you’re right.

I guess anyone concerned about 3G data use could just turn off the documents 3G syncing and be OK.

syncing a new bookmark or contact every once in a while isn’t gonna use much data (but it may be draining battery till Apple gets 5.0.1 out with the bug fixes)

For real. I upgraded from a 3G and I never saw a retina display before getting my 4S. I thought it was probably nerd hyperbole how everyone would talk about how great it was and it wasn't really a selling feature for me.

I have an older iPod touch for bathroom reading (bwahaha) and it's amazing how bad it looks when I go back to it. It looked just fine a month ago... Now it has the effect of a Game Boy Color or something :P

Funny how fast we get acclimatized to new tech.

LOL Yeah, it looks like it's just painted on the glass. Kind of crazy.
 
So I finally got my DealExtreme package, including my $4 case.

I like it a lot. It DOES have the Apple branding on it and everything, even though it is not advertised as such. I'm using it instead of my SwitchEasy Vulcan right now. Very thin, and feels solid. It's a hard case, that snaps in half (back and front) that you put together.

Recommended to anyone who may want a new or backup case, especially for the price.

My mom has my 3G and I'm so jaded now. I can't touch that POS. When she asks me to show her how to do something I just scoff at her and tell her to google it.

Actually my mother had a 4, and when she used my 3G before last month, she scoffed at MY phone!

Oh well, now the tables have turned with the 4S.

iCloud's data-intensive features (phone backups, mainly) only work over wi-fi. You can do manual backups over 3g if you're so inclined. Contacts and calandars use trivial amounts of data and are only transmitted when a change occurs.
 
Was lucky enough to grab a black 64GB 4S today after my post earlier in the page. I went into my 2nd orange store of the day and they had a pre-order held back but when they called the guy and he didn't answer they sold it to me instead!

Had a fucking awesome 3rd date tonight, I'm going to a retro video games expo tomorrow and on Monday I'm going to a WWE Raw taping in my home town so it's safe to say that life is pretty, pretttaaayyy good right now :)

I've been browsing the 30 best iOS games thread and I have a £25 iTunes card laying round. Can I use the card to buy some of these games? Can't find anywhere on the app store to input the code off the card

Scroll all the way down to the bottom and touch redeem in the app store. Like the really really bottom!

I've had my Iphone 4S for a little over a week now and and I'm still looking for games that take advantage of the new hardware. I posted in the iOS gaming thread asking for 4S-optimized titles but I didn't get any response, and I've tried googling for a list but all I can find are generic game recommendations that seem to assume that the 4S is your first Iphone.

I know that Real Racing 2 is enhanced for the 4S, but I'm not really a racing fan so is there anything else I should know about?

ugh, whats the best way to get a 4S in Ontario? tying to reserve one through the apple store but they never have 16gbs and the reserve system keeps crashing whenever I select an iPhone resulting in all of them being gone by the time I get back in :(

if your carrier has an online reservation system, try that.

Fido has one and I used it here in Quebec and it worked like a charm.

Rogers does but people have been experiencing extremely crappy service and wait times that stretch about a month long even now...

:( ah, that sucks. I have no idea how much stock they have in the retail stores but maybe it’s worthwhile to go to an Apple store in the mornings once or twice to see if there’s lines or not.

Well, the name of the case is super generic: Stylish Protective Aluminum Alloy Plastic Backside Case for iPhone 4 - Black. I searched on DX just "Stylish Protective Aluminum Alloy Plastic Backside Case for iPhone", and got these results. It looks like there is a silver one, but who knows if that's the same case with that sort of name.

I really like it. The SwitchEasy Vulcan (my other case) is pretty thin for the protection it offers, but I couldn't believe how much better my phone feels in my hand when using this case. At first it felt like it didn't snap together all that well (one part would snap in and out when I pressed on it), but it feels pretty solid now. It offers more lay down on the table protection than my other case.

Even if you didn't like it, it's 4 bucks.

I think its really weird they printed all the stuff thats on the back of an iphone on the back of that case.

PS, what is the best resource for super high res album art? I'm trying to retina-ize my catalogue.

I bought an iPhone 4S a couple of days ago, and I love it, but under settings, it lists my number as "Unknown", and I'm unable to edit it. How can I fix this?

Also, when I sent my friend a message, he didn't see my number; he saw my e-mail. I had to actually ring him for him to see my number. Is this related to the above issue?

I got a standard sized SIM card and cut it down, if it's relevant.
