Thanks for the impressions. My case is falling apart and I might need one soon. I'll definitely consider this.
Be aware it'll take a few weeks to get to you. It's from China (I got a slip of paper from USPS that I had to sign and tell them where/when to deliver it, and put it back in my mailbox), and you get a tracking number that doesn't work. So yeah, I'd order soon if you think your case is close to breaking.

Their iPod cables are good and cheap, too, I ordered 3 along with the case.

Anybody know where I can get ahold of a nice fitting charger cover? Like a little piece of plastic to cover the bottom opening of the phone. I work at a business where there is enormous amounts of paper dust and it kind of messed up the home button on my 4. I'm getting a 4S in a couple days so I'd rather not have it messing up like my 4.

Anyone order an iPhone from AT&T this weekend? I was lucky to be eligible for Day 1 discount price, but I just ordered one for my mom, whose contract for her crappy Nokia flip phone just expired.

I hope that "Ships in 1-2 weeks" holds for her order, because I know the November upgrade rush (iPhone 4 early adopters) will absolutely murder stock all through the holidays. It will be incredible.

Yeah.. not ATT but Verizon told me they couldn't ship it until at least the 11th... then it shipped out the next day.

So when it's connected (Bluetooth?) the sync voice commands will do things like play playlists or artists, as the iPhone voice control would? Or is it a choice between which voice control you use?
When it's connected wirelessly via Bluetooth, Ford Sync doesn't allow you to play artists or playlists. I'd use the iPhone voice control to do that. Sync allows you to start and skip Bluetooth audio via voice command. If you're plugged in via USB, you might get that option, but I barely use USB. Easier to use the phone's voice command.

Ah, so you're actually doing the 'hold the home button down' for those particular controls, then?

In any case, thanks for the info guys.

Reboot phone

My 4S also switched to the wrong time zone/city, and a reboot did nothing. No problems with my iPad, so I wondered if it was a problem with location services. Switched the time zone location setting off; still no joy. Not a huge deal since I can set the time to manual, but it'll be nice to go back to auto when it's fixed.

So, anybody know of a good car charger?

Everyone I find online seem to only keep the phone at the same charge level, but not actually charge it. Apparently most of them are built wrong.

:(

Curios has anyone switched from a 2010 Android phone to the 4S? What are your thoughts. I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to get the 4S or stick with Android, I'm really interested in some of the handsets coming out (RAZR and Nexus).

Am I the only one who thinks that iOS5 has also made the battery drain faster on an iPhone 4 and iPad 1?

I have never charged my iPad as much as I do now, I literally have to charge it every night.

Happens with my ipad2. Have to charge it all the time now.

Specifically for the 4S? I've never encountered this problem with the 4 that I know of.

Currently using a 20 dollar one from Target that seems to work fine.

You are already familiar with the OS so I mean, if you want all your media on all devices all the time that's the only advantage I can see. Which is a big pro from my perspective, but I also like Android. Though Android phones aren't my main line.

What brand is it? Most reviews online for car chargers state that all smartphones only recognize them as USB transfer cables, but don't recognize the charging capabilities because of some shit wiring or something.

Question dudes.

I've been on ATT since I got an iPhone 3G back in 2008. How much would it cost to upgrade to a 4S? Would I need to sign up for another X year(s) contract?

Yeah, you would need a new contract. The cost varies depending on which size 4S you want, $200/$300/$400 plus $18 upgrade fee.

Sometime within the next 8 hours the iPhone fairy is going to visit!

Yeah I'm really hoping it comes on the earlier side of that window. The last time I had a phone shipped from Verizon it arrived before 11am. But that was 2 years ago and a different city so I doubt the same rules apply.

I expected it to end like that but i got my hopes up after an employee called and told me they would ship it in the next few days (three weeks ago...). At least they shipped it now and i am excited again :)

Getting a White 4S tomorrow :D

Had a HTC Desire for the last 18 months, and fancied a change. 2 year contract, but im happy with that. Stupidly excited for it to arrive.

WooHoo!

Yeah I got my apps all purchased and ready to sync. I'm expecting there to be some frustrations at first but overall I'm very excited to be coming back to iOS. Gonna lay under the covers and play #sworcery with big headphones tonight before I fall asleep.

anyone else's 4s displaying the wrong time? (daylight savings)

It fixes itself and then it messes up again.

yeah, I had this yesterday. it kept setting my time zone to the wrong location. i think it's settled down now and hasn't changed since I did a reboot on it.

bugs, bugs, bugs with Apple and clocks, man.

I have a 3GS and didn't jump at the 4S at launch as I had a $$ blip that week. I had fully planned to. Now, however, having missed the initial excitement I have a more rational head on my shoulders and am awaiting the iPhone5 instead.

Do you 4S owners think I am doing the right thing or should I just jump in on the 4S after all ? My 3GS is working fine but I am out of contract and can upgrade if I want to.

That's for you to decide. I am upgrading from an 3GS myself and don't want to wait for another 8-10 months for the iPhone 5. Probably wouldn't have upgraded if i owned an iPhone 4 but since it is a significant upgrade from 3GS to 4S i don't regret not waiting for the iPhone 5.

Pretty damn disappointed with my 4S by now. First off all I notice a static when making phone calls (like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bf0r1QRW8q4 ), which is pretty damn annoying. Then I compared the screen to my older 3GS and the 4S has a pretty major yellowish tint.

Anyone else have these problems or knows if/when Apple will address them?

I am having random static issues, but that is about it. Anyone else get Ghost Armor for their Iphone 4S? I highly recommend it.

Yeah man, if you can wait then wait. You'll only get a nicer phone because of it.

I was in the same boat but I am pleased that I changed as my 3GS was on it's last legs for a ton of different reasons.

Exactly where I was at and how I felt. The jump from the 3GS to the 4S is so dramatic, that I'm glad I pulled the trigger. I'm sure the 5 will be nice, but I didn't want to wait any longer, and the 4S has renewed my love for the iPhone again.

lol, I'm gonna watch the opening scene of Castaway and imagine whats going on the local fedex facility.

Haven't experienced the static (maybe a carrier issue?).

The yellow tint may be the adhesive used to glue the screen, early shipments of the iPhone 4 initially had this issue as well. The glue from the factory hadn't dried completely yet when they were shipped for launch, the color tint faded over a couple of days as the glue settled.

My 4S had a slight yellow tint compared to my 1+year old 4 but that has since vanished and the screen looks identical to the old phone.

The jump to the 4S has actually been somewhat significant even as a 4 owner. The 4 was a nice phone, but the jump to a higher resolution screen resulted in general performance that wasn't all that far beyond the 3GS. The 4S can finally drive that 960x640 screen at a very high speed.

My iPhone 4 is dying - screen's got a big blotch and some dead pixels and it refuses to charge for more than 10 minutes at the most (I have to keep unplugging it and plugging it back in). I really want this thing to last me until the iPhone 5 is out, but should I just suck it up and get a 4S?

The static seems to be a relatively widespread issue, so I doubt it's my specific carrier.
Got to compare my 4S screen to another 4S and my screen was considerably more yellow, even though I've had my phone since last Monday and the other phone was activated today.
Though the yellow may get better, I'm not so sure about the static. So I'll be sending it in and hopefully they'll give me a replacement without these problems.

Sometimes I wish Apple would be more public with problems/bugs on their devices. It'd be easier for the consumers if we knew whether the yellow will cure or if the static is a hardware or software problem they can or cannot fix.

For Southeastern United States customers, the iPhone 4S launches on C-Spire next week (11/11/11). They have a $50/month unlimited data plan.....but with a shitty catch. It does not include "Streaming" (web videos, internet radio, etc). I don't know how they can detect or measure what data is streamed and what data is not streamed. Unlimited data and unlimited streaming is $80/month.

I hope this doesn't give the big carriers any ideas. I don't see the point in an unlimited data plan UNLESS you are streaming.....how else are you going to use that much bandwidth?

Go to the Apple store and find out how good you are at bitching.

They'll probably detect it via website (youtube, twitch.tv, etc).

This is pretty ridiculous.

How long have you had it? iP4 had a yellow tint problem from the screen bonding process, and it goes away after a while, however I'm pretty sure if you go to an apple store they will swap it out for you, just to put you at ease. As to the static, perhaps it is your provider? I can't imagine the call quality has changed that much from my 4(AT&T), but maybe they changed that with the S.

The bizarre thing is that your streaming is measured in minutes, not in data. So you can buy 1, 2, 5 hours of streaming at a time. I don't get how they can measure or detect it that way.

They don't do free non-AppleCare replacements anymore - period - since the new AppleCare policy.

Pretty sure somebody on there got their cracked 4S replaced for free the other day. Do you know this for a fact?

I *think* it's Belkin, but I'll check for you.

I think the 4 is a huge improvement over the 3 in case and screen alone. Just the way the thing feels in your hands is completely different and better imo.
