Get the fuck out of here.

Alabama vs Penn State: 27-11
Wisconsin vs Penn State: 42-7 (with 19 minutes left)

Yep

Right now, OSU has a lot of 5th and 6th place votes

In a perfect world, Stanford loses tonight and VT loses to Clemson again. Even if that doesn't happen, going 11-1 in the Big 12 and beating OU should carry a lot of weight.

But...

I'll admit things are dire when you're depending on Clemson and Notre Dame.

You don't lose to a bottom dweller in your conference and not get punished. OSU's punishment is sweating it out and (as it stands now) most likely being on the outside of the MNC picture. As much as you guys want it to count, winning your conference/division doesn't matter at all to the BCS. You can only hope for a voter revolt, because, short of that, the MNC game is going to be an all SEC affair.

There's the key issue with the BCS. If you are the top of your division/conference you can clearly show that you can be better than the teams that the rest of your conference beat. The Big 12 has 8 teams that are bowl eligible out of 10. The SEC has 7 out of 12, most of which are in the West division. Now that says that the OoC games for the Big 12 were easy teams, the Big 12 is a strong conference, the SEC had tougher OoC games, or SEC is an easy conference for a few teams. Why not have those good SEC teams go up against a tougher division? Hell, I've said the BCS just needs to go and die in a hole since Boise wasn't given a change at the National Title in the '06-'07 season and then Utah a few years later; Only because they weren't from a major division.

Take it up with them, not me. Until it's changed you don't have to win your conference or your division, so the rest of it is mute.*

*(Thanks, Gary!)

Not a single game today is going Stanford's way in the path to BCS... For various reasons ... as coming into today there were theoretically 3 ways for us to be in the BCS besides the at large route; MNC longshot, automatic bid, Rose bowl

MIchigan wins (another at large competitor)
Alabama winning (MNC)
Oregon winning (Rose Bowl)
Va tech winning (MNC, automatic bid for #4 ranking)
Boise winning (ahead of Stanford in the computers)
Houston winning (undefeated votes, removes an at-large bid)
Oklahman won (ahead of Stanford in the computers)

Root for Florida and S. Carolina, they both win and Stanford could jump Va Tech in the computers as the ACC will have taken a big hit today. USC winning would also be helpful although I would never tell anyone to root for USC.

Also think they could probably jump Boise because of the cupcake Boise played combined with the strength of ND.(ND top 25 in comps, Wyoming not top 50)

At the end of the day none of this matters if they don't beat ND so do that and they stay alive for next week.

Dat plane crash, short week and inexplicable sequence of fuck-ups.

Just wait, LSU will be lobbying for us too.

No way should they have to play Bama again after winning in Tuscaloosa.

Arkansas had a death too. And that was even closer to the football team than the OSU deaths. So if anything Arkansas should still be ahead of OSU. After all they lost the #1 team in the country after this tragic event. You lost to Iowa friggin State.

Doing it on the defensive side of the ball: AU has 91 total yards now.

I doubt we do anything more than run the ball from here on out.

Gary and Verne didn't seem to jerk off nearly as much for that TD run...

Have they considered that Auburn simply might have shitty tackling?

Alabama had a player death and a natural disaster.

Is this some sort of winnable contest?

Just respond with the. They seem to think it is the key to their school's name.

If Alabama and LSU are in the national title game its going to be the biggest travesty in the history of the BCS. Its not out faults that Alabama can't win their own division. OSU deserves to be in there much more than Alabama does.

I'm not saying that the crash was the primary reason, but even as someone with no direct connection to the athletic program it was absolutely a shock to get the news that morning. Budke was very well-known and liked throughout the OSU community.

To a person, every other OSU fan I talked to was absolutely drained by the time that game came around. I can't imagine that the team was any different. We came out flat and made an insane number of uncharacteristic mistakes, which to me indicates that we weren't mentally sharp.

If we beat OU convincingly, that loss deserves to be treated as what it was--a fluke.

What people don't seem to get is that since we are just GUESSING who is the second most worthy team then the one that didn't win its conference should just be naturally eliminated. If you lost at home that should probably be the next auto-disqualifier.

We're trying to put the two best teams against each other, aren't we? We're not just arbitrarily picking two conference winners, right?

Nope.

Hopefully BCS will realize nobody wants to watch a punting exhibition.

200+ yard game for Richardson is going to mean Luck needs. 300+, 3td game at least to keep pace in the heisman.... I'm annoyed that he got back into the race off a late season game against Georgia Southern :|

Trent only got back into the game because Luck has been playing beneath his usual standard.

Nope. Iowa State.

^ That is how any of Okie Lite's pleas should be responded to.

You don't have to be the conference winner to be in the title game BUT it should not be a re-match of a game already played. Someone else deserves a shot. Otherwise OSU or Michgan would have been celebrating their national title a few years back.

Also its not unheard of having bad losses and being in the title game. LSU previously won the title and they had losses to TWO unranked teams.
