Maybe you're just that good shintoki.

IF YOU GUYS ARE NOT SPECCING, YOU SHOULD GO DO IT NOW.

What did you select for experience level? There's a chance you're just getting matched below your skill level, as soon as you hit the tryhard teams you'll see games become a lot closer in matching.

This. I had my friends who came over from LoL and chose beginner. I stopped playing with them because I just stomped the enemy team. All my solo games are high tier.

Which is odd, since Valve said in match making it will just match you with based on the highest ranked guy in your group.

Just got into the beta, never played Dota but played some Lol. I play ranged carries like Teemo, Vayne, Kog Maw, Caitlin, Ashe, etc in Lol, who's are some good champs for me to start with in Dota2?

As I said a few posts ago. A lot of this is down to the fact that there are what idk less than 10k in the beta. The pool of people is low so matchmaking isn't going to be super smooth and precise yet.

Beginner of course. I've only played a few games of HoN. That consist of my experience outside LOL. I have no idea how stats work, items are still a mystery, I still fight with the shop, don't know how to use a cournier, and worst of all... I still can't figure out how to use active items without clicking, because 1,2,3,4 don't seem to work with me. But from the laning perspective. I'm not sensing any sort of difficulty. I actually seem to be better at zoning, last hitting, and denying than the actual people explaining stuff to me ingame. Heh.

Maybe you're just that good shintoki.

Well, I never think of losing. Tehehehehehe

How do I get into that game to watch?

So whats the deal with 95% of the hosts being AFK in this game? Its beyond a joke. It really needs a vote to start thing like L4D.

10k is actually a sizable number IMO. A month ago it was 300 people, and we it was common to have 2 or 3 repeat players game to game.

Comparatively speaking yes. It's a ton more than say a month or so ago.

In the grand scheme of things? Not really. 10k is a drop in the bucket. Remember that's total users and not concurrent users.

I regularly see 12k concurrent users on during the day.

Just sayin'.

From my own personal theory on MM in general if you are sub 20k concurrent it's sort of a cluster. In comparison HoN has broken the 50k concurrent user barrier. That's not even talking about LoL or games in other genres like CoD or Halo that use MM.

PS: LoL is said to have roughly 1 million concurrent players.

Why would we want to watch puppet feed?
That game was so stupid, I went bot to gank like 4 times, and every time the Spectre and CM would just sit there and not assist, top was impossible cause of Stun / Shallow, and mid was Doom. Fucken Stupid game, they didn't even wanna push.

Yea I watched, that game was rough :(

You also have to assume that if there are 10k-15k of concurrent players people are already split up by the experience level they chose. Plus not everyone loaded up is playing, and that doesn't count people in practice matches.

I'm not trying to hate on DOTA2 either. MM is in general topic I regularly ponder about, and wonder if there even is a mathematical fix for a ton of multiplayer games that aren't BF3 or L4D in terms of player base in regards to MM.

PS: I suck, but I'd be up for some practice matches with GAFers this weekend. Currently at my GFs hanging with her while she studies. I'll be on later though, and through out the weekend!

Anybody have a good link for upcoming tournaments for dota2? I really like watching the matches, to the point where I'd rather watch dota2 matches than play most games. I watched The International matches and the Dreamhack matches already.

Question on Sandking, when he does that sandstorm. What do I do? lol
Walk out of it.

Slap down some AoE stun.

Use Dust of Appearance/Revelation Ward.

Just pretend it's Akali smoke.

So I got like 4 wins so far and 3 loses, but for my stats it is only showing that I have 2 wins, is that a glitch or is the stat tracking just not accurate yet?

The stat tracker does glitch at times, but it is iffy about counting games with leavers. Anyone leave any of those games?

I could be wrong, but I don't think you can stun Sand King unless you have sight of him, even with an AoE.

It's pretty buggy, if someone leaves ( abandons ) there is a chance the game won't be counted, other times its 100%, game is random about wanting to record stats.

No, you can stun him out of it.

You just need to be conscious of what the SK is doing though. After using a Sand Storm, he actually has extra time of invisibility after he moves so a lot of players will just utilize that to get away. But if they're standing still or low level (the bonus invisibility time increases with level), stun away if you must. Just aim for the center.

Yeah I know one of the games someone left on the other team, and the other game I'm pretty sure my team had a leaver from the start.

So is there any way I can report that to valve to try and put my info in, and does it look like a fix is coming soon for that seeing as there was a patch last night?

god damn I'm so bad at this. Uchip is carrying me so hard. But I'm doing my job as assist train crystal maiden. So stupid I can rape with nothing but phase boots and scepter.

That is the beauty of supports, that because there is nearly zero spell scaling, their spells are just as useful with items as without. Sadly, spells damage falls off late game, and even getting disables off can be hard with things like BKB.

having played LoL for so long im not sure how i feel about spells having such little scaling. Like seriously me and uchip as batrider, and a miranna, would walk into 4 of the other team (uchip was pretty fed actually) and i would open up up with my Q, my W and then ULT in the middle of them... Insta wipe them. and i had phase boots and like 3 iron bars and like half the Ag scepter. It was sad. Being used to LoL i want to have items to feel like im doing something. It makes sense that i should have items to stay relavent in the game. Not having items just seems wrong.

On the opposite end of this, was spectating a game where this stupidly fed Skeleton king had not one, not two, but THREE Divine Rapiers. He could literately tank barracks and destroy it in 7 hits. was absolutely fucking ridiculous. That is the epitome of a hyper carry. He could 3 shot any champion on the other team.

Here is a new goal, become so good at supporting you can actively keep the map warded up, and even sneak into the enemy base and buy/steal their wards.

edit: Actually, scratch that, you can't buy the enemy wards. I wonder if it is a bug though, you can use their shop, which should be stocked with wards.

And there we go, topic made on dota dev site. Furion/AA "Stealing Wards from Enemy" strategy to become new meta.

Sounds like you're playing against terrible people.

No items is like Boots and Bracers, not a 4k Aga.

yes they were bad. But still,2 finished items and being able to support so well just feels wrong. I want some quantity.

Still don't see how it's wrong, wouldn't be much of a Support if you needed to farm to be useful.

Time to stop thinking of support classes as anything other than a support class.

Support is there to help carry's to get farmed. Would be silly if they need to farm a lot to be useful. But support is support, you won't do much lategame by yourself if your opponents aren't terrible.
Phase, Braces and half a Aga isn't that bad really. Most supports spend their money on couriers and wards anyways.

Take up Faceless Void next time and try to own lategame with Phase boots and Braces if you want to feel items are needed

Edit: I thought most people coming from LoL said the opposite? That Items are more important in Dota

just feels weird having played LoL for so long.

It feels good after playing LoL and feeling useless without farm. Sure, I need some farm on Omniknight since without soul ring I am in fact useless, but 800ish gold is far less then most LoL characters.

They are more powerful. If you do have tons of farm as a support ("Sorry guys, my ult kill all of them"), you should ether use it to patch up any HP or Mana problems, or to get items with active effects or auras.

Basically get mek. Everyone loves mek.

Man, the entry games are killing me. People who just run into towers, "I don't know how to use the shop", and leavers are just rampant. Bots take forever to kick in too. 2v5 isn't even something I've seen in LoL but sure enough, three people leave after feeding early game. And no surrender makes it that much worse every time.

Man what. I guess I played the only supports in LoL that don't need farm or something? I very rarely took last hits or did anything other than get assists, and I did fine.

In fact, going from support in LoL to support in Dota 2 is probably the easiest transition. I'm confused by this idea that supports needed lots of gold in LoL.

2th probably thinks supports shouldn't be able to burst people down Annie style without items, like Lion or Lina can.

At least that's how I'm reading it.
