Yeah I guess I can finish more of them, I was under the impression no one read them, cause everyone always asks how to play X hero.

what are the odds of getting you to put which skills we should focus on first like 2-1-2 or something :P

Thats what i ask more than how to play..i think

just found out about the lower priority pool. took forever to get the game started. but then this happened. I was the support Slardar

Thinking about being support.

On a scale of 1-10 how beginner friendly is it?

IMO, as a new player myself, very friendly -- have gone 8 wins - 1 loss with Crystal Maidan.. been playing with Lich and Dazzle a bit. Lich is great. My favorite so far. Edit: I'd say 2-3 on the scale, not really hard to learn how they work... pretty hard to learn how to be effective with them (again, IMO). Start off with Crystal Maiden or Lich I'd say... which has been recommended to me from someone else.

He mainly plays carries, thats why he isn't all that interesting to watch. Farm farm farm.

Dendi and Wehsing are gank happy solomids. Much more fun to watch.

Could you pass me some links for those two please? I've seen some videos from Wehsing before and the guy is crazy. Lots of fun.

They are both on streamdota, but they are not streaming because of the Kiev "Dota 2 Star" Cyberarena tourney.

But the tournament will be where its at for the next few days, it starts tomorrow and goes on till the 11th.
(will be up at http://www.joindota.com/en/live/tobiwan )

There's some good teams going to be there, personally I'm rooting for Navi (like they need it) WHB (who are now sponsored by MTW) and ebin. (who are now sponsored by Mouz)

I brought this up many pages ago but I was wondering if anyone knows of a site that has information detailing the AA targeting logic for this game.

At first I thought when you left a hero idle they would move to attack the closest unit in range within a certain radius.

After using S or H to delay the AA animation, I noticed that my hero would change targets at random to an unintentional target. I figured it was just ranged creeps attacking me to force my hero to switch targets.

But I found even if I positioned myself so that my target (melee creep) was in front of a ranged creep, my hero would still change targets to the ranged creep while delaying the animation even if said ranged creep was not attacking me.

With that said, this basically makes last hitting using S or H impossible as my hero will just switch targets to something else causing me to lose the last hit.

So yeah, any help with this issue would be appreciated.

Turn off autoattacking in the menu, and then 'hold' should stop you indefinitely from AAing. Seems to make everything work like you think it should.
Also AA logic seems whack, I had an instance just today when I walked up to a lane with attack maneuver and it starting attacking the ranged creep at the back first.

Wehsing is fun to watch because of how he talks. He's constantly saying it was the easiest kill of his life or getting surprised when people come out of no where. He also constantly tells Twista that he's the worst player which is hilarious.

I appreciate the help but what I'm trying to do is not possible with AA turned off.

It is though, you simply alternate stop and attack(I have attack bound to right click and stop to mouse6), it allows greater stop control and you can still animation delay.

the best is saying "club" or "slice" every time he gets a kill where he just runs in and does one hit.

Weaver is pretty awesome. So many escapes, strong auto-attack with the passive, good wave clearing with is Q. Put off trying him out for too long. Had another garbage Sniper on my team though and couldn't carry hard enough to win even though I was starting to get super fed. So many terrible Snipers in my games, I can't get away from them.

both fragile like glass, one has 2 escape mechanisms while the other doesnt hmmm

To be fair to Sniper I think the idea is that he can stick back and avoid that damage altogether. In practice that's much harder. I've had alright games as him, but he's so dependent on good positioning and awareness that it's weird to see people pick him up all the time.

I tried checking the OP, googling multiple different terms, looking through keybinds, and asking two different people, but I can't seem to find this ANYWHERE.

In spectator mode, how do you change which player you are following? Is there a set of instructions for spectator mode controls somewhere? I want to watch player perspective but be able to choose which player.

Pretty sure you can just click on their portrait at the top of the screen.

Click player portraits

Played my first game against Shadow Shaman today. Went to gank him, but he escape with a hit left. So I decide to walk back. Went into about a dozen plants. Not once, twice this game. Got him the 2nd time, but he set up shop above and walking back. Death.

Yeah, thanks. It turns out that's apparently the only way to do it, so I have to hold \ to slide out the scoreboard, find whose name has what portrait, then try to match the portrait to the portrait at the top, and click that. XD You can click other things and get stuff for say, visiting profiles on the scoreboard, it's weird you can't just change player views from it.

THE NUMBERS, MAYSON

Right, but first I have to look up the name and THEN match them to the numbers, and I don't know these champions yet. =P

Cool, those work too. But how would I have possibly known that 1234567890 selected portraits at the top of the display since there don't seem to be tooltips there, unless I just mashed buttons (I started to, but stopped). I should write up a FAQ or something. Thanks!

It's like instant. Just click the heroes at the top until you find who you want. Takes no time at all. Seriously.
Everything is so confusing when you are dumb like me! (or new like me)

Soon I'll be trial and erroring spectator mode like a pro. I already wrote a bunch of notes into a notes.txt file!
