I hope they add a sell from stash option soon, I hate being unable to sell items when I get the wrong thing. "I wanted Wards, not a second Courier! :("

Over 8 hours of VA and counting. Hope they have the VA on hand, since I would love more rivalry lines.

Wow 8 hours, impressive. And yeah, rivalry lines is the one that's in short supply.

Lost a heartbreaker. Team just won't push and they had an entire team of carries outside Tide.

Quick question, anyone have a map with key spots to ward? I know the two river points are good, but any specific areas in the jungles?

They still add lines to tf2 every once in a while. They'll come and do more for dota 2 for sure.

a lot of gaffers must have this beta
ran into someone called college_boy lol

That was me. TIDEHUNTER!

Sorry about the last hits and stuff you guys. I am still learning the game and I gotta turn off auto attack. I also need to memorize the quick binds to using items so I can use blink dagger better.

I don't like Pudge's hair, else I would use that as my avatar. If someone photoshops a samurai top onto his head then I will use it.

I've had the beta for almost 3 months now and most of my time spent has been screwing with the mechanics against bots. This is my last week of the semester. It will be great to dive in this properly. Played an actual match with ES earlier today and went 14/7/20. Juggernaut went 0/11. We won, so it was all good. ES is a lot of fun. I like Axe too.

Bots are dumb and not fun, but I like to test the waters with unfamiliar heroes.

I want to get out of my support comfort zone, but the sad reality is that if I don't pick a support, they're just not getting picked up that often.

it's the life of the dota pub player. play with gaffer or friends if you want to play carries then.

Unless you're playing with good players then playing Support in pubs is a giant waste of time, you'd be best playing something like a Mirana and buying some wards if they're needed.

do think we have one, but if you actually want to play games, join the neogaf room in dota 2 and you'll be set. all you really need.

My friends finally got an invite and one of them never played DotA nor LoL or HoN before. His first game was with Huskar and he got 14-17-9, pretty good for a beginner ^^

One question for you guys. If i make a party with him and he invites me, do we get enemys resembling his skill level (he chose beginner, i chose experienced) or is it mixed?

It matchmakes based on the rating of the highest rated person in the party, so it'll match you against other experienced players.

I'm addicted to Face Boots on INT heroes. The extra movement speed to secure a kill seems to negate the ~200 HP boost on squishy characters.

Join the club. I'm not really good enough to dish out the carrying and still prone to dying a lot as a support, though if the teams are relatively balanced I end up doing at least decently, likely as the team assist whore.

I've tried playing with bots and while they're entertaining enough for a romp and I can play carries, there's no semblance of teamwork with bots being what they are and it doesn't prepare you for actual games. Nothing really beats real world practice.

Hope Valve fixes the Tinker bug in the next patch before people start exploiting it. Right now it is possible to make it that all the bots spawn in a single spot, and stay there till they do their full damage. They more or less can cause any enemy that walks into the spot to explode.

Also, I miss the old bots on the enemy team that would instant kill you early game. Now that was good practice.

"What, you think I'm harassing you? Don't mind me, I'm chasing you ALL THE WAY TO YOUR INNER TOWER AND STILL SURIVING THE WALK BACK!"

I use Tinker and I would like to see how this is done :o

Don't know if it's a skill issue per se. A good support is hard to play since positioning and map awareness are so important. You also generally can not escape since dagger and/or bkb are not the items to go for (except as luxury items). I do initiation pretty well too, so who knows...

Anyway, a little story about payback that some may relate to. So I was in this game, playing Lich, and we were just being demolished. Top solo lane lost, jungle fed their team, mid lost and we lost to a trilane. Haven't been beat that bad since ever.

The game after, the same guy who trashed our mid with NS in the previous game shows up. Predictably, he picks up AM. I pick WD and my team smartly picks up NS and Puck. Puck especially was vocal about shutting AM down before he takes off. Long story short, AM and his lanepartner Venomancer got shit on about six times before level 10. Malediction and Death Ward + silence of puck and NS is so great versus that hero. He ragequit the game around 25 minutes in. Not a bad player either. Sweet, sweet justice.

On anther note, Valve may actually have to add more servers soon. They "only" have 3000, but at the rate of Beta Expansion, in a few weeks they could easily have 30k players playing at one time. Plus, at least a 100+ servers at any time are being used by only 1 or 2 people in a practice game.

Only a mater of time before a region hits capacity.

Also, I wonder how Valve even deals with Spectate servers. Is there one spectate server for every game server? Just how much in resources is it taking to host each instance of the game? They are going to need a huge number of servers if they reach the popularity of LoL.

I can almost guarantee each server can host multiple games running at once as separate processes. Either that or it is virtualized. Also, spectator mode uses the same server the game is playing on, unless its a proxy, to watch the games. You connect to a different port.
