Haha, what the hell just happened... Pudge hooks and gets teleported, so the hook's target got teleported to enemy base as well.

Was lucky I got to play the beta at a mates place yesterday when he got in and have a taste and was meaning to come here and ask about that. The whole practice lobby area of the game is so clunky and made it really difficult to get into a game, not a very pleasant experience. I wasn't there for too long so I didn't get to see the matchmaking side but hopefully by the time I join the party that's all refined.

Regardless the actual game was really fun, can't wait til I can get some real hands on time with it.

filter for lobbys with 123 pass, usually no afk hosts there.

I had the same experience with trying to find a practice lobby. So things I have learned so far regarding chat and practice game UI:

1. There currently isn't an option (like in League of Legends) to keep chat channels open. You can get it to open on startup but you have to create and/or edit a config file to get that to happen. In addition, you can't just type the name of a chat channel to join (like LoL), but you instead have to scroll through the giant list with no search box and apparently no keyboard search shortcut option to find it.

2. Using 123 as a password for practice lobbies may be standard practice. I didn't know this and will have to try it!

3. Practice lobbies only show up 5 at a time or something like that, even if you filter by password. This seems pretty confusing to me since I don't know why I saw the ones I did, and then when I created my own no one joined (presumably because no one could see it).

4. When you create a practice game I think the name ends up blank by default and then you have to bring up an options dialog if you want to change it.

5. When you try to join some practice games where the host seems afk, there may already be a game in progress, someone told me? There might be a label in the upper left or lower left corner that explains this. I guess they let people join after they start so that you can fill the slots back up, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure whether the Ready button does anything, since nothing seems to change color etc.

6. I think someone said the host is the top left person in practice game player slots by default?

I haven't tried matchmaking to see how long it takes to find games, and people in the NA and NeoGAF chat channels seem to either be afk or in game. Is there any way to tell which people are ingame (or away, or in the process of creating a game, etc.)?

Hopefully there are plans to make improvements in these areas however. Maybe I should email Icefrog or whoever and suggest them, since I'm sure I'm the only one who has thought of them. ;p
 
Pretty sure every one of those will have been mentioned and will be worked on, they haven't touched chat channels or private games since the beta started.
 
Echo Slam > Fissure > Aftershock > Enchant totem

Core items: Mana Boots, Blink Dagger

The most important thing a good ES can do is walling with Fissure. Aim it in such a way that your wall will force the opponent to walk around in order to escape (also, you can apply the same skill to help allies get away)

In teamfights you will want to initiate with blink -> Echo when the other team is clumped together.

Note: I'm a godawful ES and this is all theorycrafting garbage I have spewed on your monitor.

Really? Can we get a clarification here? That something so clearly tongue in cheek (and doesn't constitute serious discussion of anything) could hypothetically constitute a ban is a little ridiculous.
 
Yup, Tobi called with Valve to confirm a new update is being rolled out as we speak. Also some Valve server trouble, most likely related.
