Diablo 3 Beta [Beta withdrawal underway!]

I lol'd at the Azeroth reference. Also is it just me or do some of the weapons look different when wielded by a female character?

People on those Diablo forums also say they look different when being wielded by different characters but I cannot see it. It's the 3D same model.

Still no invite. Looks like I'm among the few. I got into the starcraft 2 beta pretty early so I was hoping. Oh well. Just can't wait for the full game!

Is it just me, or is it super crashy as fuck? I know it's a beta - but I can't play it on my Desktop at all. (i760 / gtx460)

When I load up a new game, I can walk maybe 1 to 2 steps before it crashes to the desktop. Was able to do that 5 times in a row til I threw in the towel.

Installed it on my MacBook Pro instead. Initially, same thing happened. Took a few steps, crashed.

Afterwards I was able to play properly for a bit further...

I haven't had a crash or any issues yet and I've put in some time leveling up, I am not sure why it would be crashing for you but it's strange it does it on both your systems.

wow I just got invited and I just have diablo 2 registered to my account, I am playing a lot of Skyrim and Uncharted 3 right now but I will definitely test this baby tonight!

Dunno why some of you are getting performance issues... capped at 60 or 100 (it's smooth as hell).

Same and as I mentioned earlier the computer I use at work is hardly made for gaming. To the people experiencing these problems, what settings are you running the game on?

How does Your cpu utilization look like?
Because most of my slowdowns [serious ones] are with physics involved.

I had 15 fps! on those stairs.

It doesnt matter, tested it all [low/high settings, window mode, full-screen, v-sync off/on, aa off/on] no difference.

Aside from occasional latency (from crowded servers, I assume) I've noticed that the game is a little choppy on my machine. I'm running with a ton of RAM, 4 ghz Intel quad core, GTX570. The game is usually a perfectly smooth 60 but I get occasional stutters as I wander around, even if I'm just going through areas I've already cleared out.

This happens regardless of graphic settings and with sound on or off (I've seen that listed as a possible culprit on the Blizzard forums).

Anyone else?

Sounds like a driver problem.

Same issue, definitely not my system. Game doesn't look so hot anyways so that doesn't explain the random stutters every 15 seconds.

After testing 3 chars i was interested in, i can finally summary my 'experience'.
First of all classes were amazing to play. I've started with Wizard and really loved how powerful it is, i liked most skills a lot, but i think it was the most repetitive/boring class from all i've played, its of course only beta issue, because there are no runes, slots/skills are limited abd we dont have in beta any movement skill, which sucks ;p

Then i played Monk, who i gave two/three items i found with first run of Wizard and to make game 'a little harder' i havent changed them almost for an entire game. Monk became really fun when he gets Deadly Reach. Skill is not only fun and well balanced, but also gives You spirit that You can use on other skills and make some combos :) I liked that a lot, even though this class was the weakest one. I didnt like Crippling Wave and You can even see that in movies below when i test it ;p Also it was the only class which needed to fight with Skeleton King 'safe'.

Last one was Demon Hunter that i didnt like at first, it was slow, skills were quite crappy, hatred ended too fast etc, but thats changa after level 5 or 6 and it gets better and betters as You progressed. It was probably the easiest class for killing Skeleton King, because had really strong ranged attacks and awesome dodge. Dodge is awesome [its called Vault as i recall] and i'm quite unhappy that i cant use it to travel non stop :P
You can watch my full Demon Hunter run on youtube [link below]

Gameplay is really fun and addictive, even though beta is easy as fuck ;p [i cant believe that some people on Blizzard board write that it was too hard o_0], but i can see how good it will be in higher difficulties with those all options. I really liked how responsive skills were and how could You easily combine them.

I liked physics, but i think for some it could be too overdone. Maybe its only a beta issue, but i think they focused on that to much [i'm ok with that because i love all physic stuff in games :)]

I didnt like health orbs, they seem too random in the beta. I dont how they scales up on higher levels/difficulties, but i think that flask system in PoE is better designed and more predictable.

Crafting seem quite good, i havent leveled my Blacksmith yet [i'll do it today], but from i saw, items he crafts are useful and salvaging helps cleaning Your inventory, it will also be quite good currency later in game. I just hope it scales up well to Inferno.

Stash is too small, like almost none ;\ It should has at least has 6+ pages.

Ps. You can notice how impatient i am on unskippable cutscenes :P

Expand your stash by buying extra space. There's a bunch of tabs ready to be bought.

I was not talking about those pages :), but pages like in PoE.
Those bunch are 5 and are not enough. Seriously, they're not even scratching the surface of what i need ;\

Friend who has never played or owned a Diablo game got it yesterday.

Me, who has put hundreds of hours into D2 and a solid 100 into D1, entered every contest, and checked my beta status daily, have not.

If he truly is your friend then he should let you borrow his account.

Found a bug ;p
I've been moving training pages from inventory to stash and had two books created already in character inventory, after i moved pages to stash, books disappeared.

anyone else just get kicked off the bnet?

edit: Seems the error I'm getting has to do with bnet server crashing according to some blue post on the D3 forums.

If I am stuck at the hero creationg screen after I click "Create Hero" can I wait out the stall? Or should I try again later?

Down again?

Is that explore-the-cathedral achievement bugged, BTW? I could have sworn I checked every single corner of the place in a single player game but none of the checkboxes are checked in my achievement list.

Seems like it's down again. I didn't have any problems with that achievement.

I know it's beta, and I'm not complaining, but I can totally see the servers crashing at retail release. Which would pretty much be balls.

Hopefully they won't screw it up...
or better yet get rid of the always online

Same thing happened to me.. but my friend is really afraid of sharing accounts

I can't see how, what with all the experience they've got from WoW, I would be very surprised to see them have these issues.

Of course open beta would certainly help, although I don't think they are having one.

After an hour or so, I can see why people are into the game. I do get a big of lag here and then. Playing a monk and its not bad.

got beta! woot, game is awsome. Love the ui and very user friendly game. People who are having fps issues, turn off shadow. I did it on my cpu and was like night and day.

I really REALLY hope the retail isnt prone to lag from needing to online all the time. FPS arent bad at all with everything maxed minus vsync, but got crazy lag spikes before the server just died again.

I don't think I would be surprised if they had server issues at launch, it is blizzard so they shouldn't have any problems avoiding it.... I guess it's one of those "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst" kinda things... but so many devs have problems with servers at launch, CoD Elite comes to mind.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but the always online thing is total mis-step.

I agree, but I feel that more a piracy measure more than anything.

Saying that PoE is planned as F2P and still requires always online, its just the way most multiplayer games are going these days.

Guess I'm SOL if I just want to play single player...

I apologize to everybody that is having lag spikes, or cant log in to the server. It seems Blizzard is having issues sending me my Beta invite and are looking to rectify the problem. I hope the issue is solved before release.

I want to play and I keep getting kicked off after like 30 mins after the servers come back up :(.

Wizard is pretty bad ass though. Can't wait to try out the Monk and Demon Hunter

Yea disconnected again... makes maybe half a dozen times today. Hopefully they're ironing out the problems so they don't have this problem at retail ><

edit: Characters loosing progress when you get disconnected also sucks.

It REALLY sucks that we're going to have to worry about this shit in single-player.

Even when things are working properly, I notice a bit of lag here and there. I wind up getting hit by attacks that were nowhere near me.

Hopefully these will just be beta issues. Then again I never really experienced lag in Diablo 2's online MP, so its definitely got to be beta issues.
