What are vertices?
The corners of a polygon, i.e. the basic building blocks of a 3D model. To specify a polygon, you have to say where the vertices are.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I'm pretty sure it is a sack and not a tail, otherwise what's up with the cloth in his hands.
It's a pretty bizarre shape for a bird's tail anyway, but the cloth in its hand pretty much seals the deal on it being a sack.
Edit: Sack confirmed.
It carries food rolled up in its tail. It has the habit of sharing food with people lost in mountains.

Here's a fun little one I found out by accident yesterday.
Minesweeper in Windows 7 has rumble.
Try plugging in an XBOX 360 controller and click on a mine. You can also play the game with the controller, although I can't see why you'd ever want to do that, but you can.

I knew that, I always have to unplug my controller to play Minesweeper. >_>Here's a fun little one I found out by accident yesterday.

To elaborate a bit more, there is a flat corresponding set of points called "UV's"
These are used in conjunction with the texture image that gets applied to the model. If the UV points are too small for the corresponding polygon, the image will stretch across the model. And if the edges of the UV's aren't lined up, you will see a seam on the model, where the parts of the image don't match perfectly.
The Lara croft model probably had messy looking seams on the back, hence the backpack.
Since the UV layout is flat, often times it has to wrap strangely around the 3D model. Texturing is always a balance of stretching and seams, and applying those for the best results.
It works like wrapping a gift in wrapping paper, and making sure that it looks like an unbroken piece of paper is covering the shape. Since most models are more complex than a simple box, this process gets exponentially more complicated.
It's a very simple shape. It's likely it required a similar number of vertices as the ones previously in her back.

Ha! There have been several calls for that sort of thing in this thread, and attempts have been made in the past. Problem is that people aren't really interested in doing anything like that, just in asking for the nebulous "we" to do it. You're welcome to reference my own personal tracking system if you ever feel like looking stuff up. There are well over a thousand tags, though, so it's unwieldy.
probably coincidental, but Gundam and the FF7 Weapons
I think Gundam is simply embedded into the subconscious of all mecha designers. Two of the weapons are based on (Neo)Zeon MS? Hnnnng!
I wonder if Squaresoft based anymore of their mecha designs on Gundam. I know in Xenogears that (spoilers for the endgame)Xenogears highly resembles the V2 Gundam in a lot of ways which might've been intentional considering the symbolism behind the energy wing design and some of its attacks resemble what you would see in G Gundam. They also spotlighted Elly's Gear having the equivalent of Newtype Funnels way early in the game.

Lara Croft wears a backpack in the original Tomb Raider because all of her verts meet in her back and it looked bad. So they put a backpack on to hide the mess.

Yeah, i decided to give it a go on the "create a full database for all this" project. It will be slow and ill ignore most of the "this song sound like this song!" crap. But im having fun up until now.
It would be awesome if you could just pick a game and it would show all the cool facts from this thread
EDIT: at page 4 there´s one info about zelda´s dungeons being one single image that i cant make sense out of it because the image is broken. If someone could help... (its not the dungeons spelling "zelda", its something else)
That´s the idea with the blog.
But im using tags to do it, and wordpress insists in putting em in a "cloud" format. I wish they could just list all the tags alphabetically in a vertical list with the number of entries right in front of every game name.
But for now, i didnt even changed the default banner, so one step at the time.

If you can customize the theme, you can use get_tags().
I dont think i can... it seems only upgrading (AKA giving money to then) you can customize your theme.
For free, only header change.

Page 8, i have a problem.
At least 2 "secrets" are just people posting pictures.
But recently Neogaf forbidden the use of certain image holders.
Te result is the pic being replaced by censored addresses like "i29.************/2w4jked.jpg"
Do anybody knows what the **** stands for?
Do you think its possible if i replace the **** for the real name of the image holder, i can see this image? After all this time?
You could always get some webspace on your own and install wordpress on there (get it on wordpress.org). Then you can make your own themes and all that jazz.I dont think i can... it seems only upgrading (AKA giving money to then) you can customize your theme.

In Pokemon Yellow a random trainer on Route 9 is replaced from the original trainer in Red/Blue with a "Youngster" who only battles with a Sandshrew. If you talk to him after beating him he will inform you that you beat his 100 battle winning streak.

This is actually based off of a character found in the anime AJ, who appeared in the episode The Path to the Pokemon League, who also battled with a Sandshrew and had a 100 win streak until he fought Ash.

While it makes sense considering Pokemon Yellow was supposed to be more like the anime, this is one of the few basic trainers that was actually replaced to fit the anime, and most people never noticed.
So here's something from Final Fantasy 13, though it may not necessarily be mind blowing-
InOerba, you will notice humanoid Cie'th and some small Cie'th here and there: The small Cie'th are most likely children; look at where the smaller Cie'th are situated within the village: The first ones you see would be children playing in the middle there, and there are small Cie'th in and next to the school.
And if you're in that neighborhood, check this out as well: in the schoolhouse, there's a clock, and on it you can see that the Pulsian day is broken into 13 (or a multiple of 13) hours.
Probably been posted but in Pokemon Red and Blue when you trade an old man on Cinnabar Island a Raichu, you can talk to him afterwards and he will tell you it went and evolved. This was one of the main reasons the rumors of a "Pikablu" existed.
