Best episode of TV ever.

The most consistently funny 25 minutes of television to have been recorded.

Strange. I thought I clicked on “Pics That Make You Laugh” thread but I seem to have stumbled into “The IT Crowd |OT|”

halt! hammerzeit

i..... don't get it. at all.

what is supposed to be funny about that? seriously, i'm not mocking it. i genuinely don't understand... :( kinda bums me out since everyone else seems to think that's hilarious

Hint: He isn't actually disabled... at all, him and the bartender work with Jen (the one making the confused face) in a basement IT office of a huge company.

yea i kinda guessed he was pretending... still don't see the humor :( lol i suck

and WHY does the audience burst into laughter just seeing the bartender? wtf is so funny, i don't get it!! :(

The only thing im gonna say is: The IT Crowd girl is damn funny and cute.

No, it has an audience.

A live audience doesn't mean that a show still doesn't enhance the laughter with a laugh track.

I watched the first three episodes of IT Crowd and had to stop. My tolerance for laugh track (or annoying live audience) shows has gone to 0 since Seinfeld and Fresh Prince.

It's a scene you really shouldn't see out of context, but in context it's absolutely brilliant.

Watch the whole episode. Now!

I guess the supply of Good Taste ran out before you recieved your portion :(

A Big Bang Theory fan once said something similar to me, so if not liking BBT means I have not taste, I revel in being tasteless.

Father Ted and the IT Crowd are both great shows. Go watch them US GAF.

I just did this and..wow, what a hilarious show. I havent got to watch a full episode yet but have seen 3-5min scenes that have be laughing like an episode of Sunny.
I'm gonna check out some episodes later, gonna show my wife later tonight.

Have you ever watched comedy shows with laugh track without the track? There's a big difference between stand up comedians and 20 minute TV shows...
What would be the point? That would be as inappropriate as watching The Office or 30 Rock with a laugh track pasted on. Some shows are designed to have laughter, some aren't. If the laughter turns you off in this new era of single-camera no-laughter comedy that's fine but you're missing out on a lot of funny stuff that still plays to a live audience.

Do you feel this detracts from live stand-up comedy performance movies also?

I was not expressing an opinion of laugh tracks or studio laughter. Although I don't see how stand-up is comparable to a sitcom. One is directly interacting with an audience.

One thing I've always wondered though, especially on a lot of BBC comedies, they have portions in a studio, and then other portions filmed on locations. Do they just add a laugh track onto the location shots, or do they actually bother to show those filmed bits to the audience on a screen?

I've always wondered this too.

Graham Linehan (the (co-)writer of these shows) is now working on a stage version of The Lady Killers, his writing style is tailored for performance it's not attempting to be real or subtle in anyway.

I would hate every comedy to be forced to have no audience just because its in voyage, these are decisions the creators should make on a case by case basis, and should not be a blanket rule.

They screen the filmed bits and record there live reaction, one thing to keep in mind is a 30 minute show takes a lot longer to record and the audience will be there a long time between takes, I assume they would show the pre-records in lieu of bringing the stand up(who warms the crowd up) back on.
