this game holyshit

they got mega creeps D:
They outplayed you there really hard, and Demon was such an idiot to waste his BoTs to farm bot instead of tping to base when they were pushing, plus your AM is pretty bad.

If he had Bfury you would've easily won with the pushing power of him and Agha QOP

That AM is so bad, it's hilarious watching him play, also wtf at Bloodstone Lion, I don't even understand.

You guys should've easily dominated with a QoP, Sven, Lion team, ignoring the fact you had AM and Mirana on top of that, the AoE synergy is so good. All they had for AoE was Lich, and a Death Prophet that kept dying
KuGsj.gif

I just watched this demon farm farm farm and then die because he was farming too far.
Too confident

It was gutsy, I gotta learn to play like that. Besides all the dying of course.
Well if your talking about going into their base and just farming creeps inside it, it's probably because he realised they couldn't kill him in one stun rotation, he had 2.9k HP at that point, at best Slardar gets 3 lucky bashes, then he blinks away with 600~ hp and he can hex the slardar if he chases him with Sprint. Also Death Prophet was either lagging or blind, cause the person playing her missed like 3+ silences throughout the game, the range on it is so huge, so he probably wasn't worried about getting silenced either.

Which is why if their AM was actually decent, he could've done the same thing with Bfury, even easier though cause he has spell shield and his blink animation is better then QOP, not to mention the range.

I do like how he farmed though, pretty insane how he was able to farm skadi without much kill assist.

i uninstall steam & dota 2.
i play too much feels like mmorpg...

i cant allow myself to be sucked in. Already 80hours played my steam say? fuck it. Bye !

When is a typical time that you guys play? Was on around 10p-2a last night.

I know I've been clamoring for some changes since I've gotten into beta... but I got to tell you... I love how DOTA-esq this still feels. I've been trying some of my old favorites... running with some of the old builds I used to fuck around with... and it feels like riding a bicycle.

Successfully running an old cheesy Gondar strat last night brought back fond memories.

Can't CS well right now though. Animation is difficult to get used to since playing LoL, it's very different... the timing takes more finesse. And there are team battles where I lose myself... but I think that's very common when I pick up these games.

Overall I'm satisfied and I blame my shortcomings on rust and a shitty computer that I'm currently playing on.

Shop system is growing on me a little. I think the idea of it is great and with refining it can be pretty wonderful.

Don't mean to keep plugging Purge's videos, but his latest one is really helpful to me.

He goes over every every item in the game, shop by shop. Just learning that I can make Arcane boots at the side shop has already made it worth it.

So 'kirby's crazy control scheme' is gaining traction. And soon, you will all buy track ball mice, Bwhahahahaha.

But really, why are you all going with it now? I did it back in LoL because people kept complaining about my map awareness, and I found that having the move map keys bound to WASD helped with that.

I've always done this since I played HoN. It's much more flexible to use WASD for short term camera panning and mouse for faster pinpoints.

WASD = Cameras
1234 = skills
QER = first row of items

lion's stun should be auto-cast!

so forward thinking!

I never said I wanted it to be. I was just curious why puck's e can be autocast and not lion's q. I'd rather them just remove puck's autocast though.
It doesn't really matter though. Just have to make sure next time I see puck in a game to autoattack him as much as possible so he wastes all his mana.
The point you guys just wouldn't listen to is that I believe it takes more skill to dodge an attack with puck's shift than hit someone with lion's stun. Plus it is actually more beneficial for lion to wait to use his stun so he can hit multiple people with it, not just the first person that walks in range.

Holy shit. I though I was the only person that did this, Lol. I swapped out shortcuts as soon as I got the beta.

Mine is more like...

WASD = Camera
123456 = Items
QERTY, etc. = Skills

Does pressing the middle mouse button serve any function in the game? I'm curious about using it to move the camera, or something.

Is there a trick to getting a microphone working in-game? I have it enabled in the sound options with volume turned all the way up, but when I push the button for voice chat (, by deafult, later changed to mouse4) nothing happens, not even the little chat bubble appearing. Am I missing something?

Dota beginner here.

Still haven't found a hero that I'm comfortably with yet. Right now it's a toss up between Pudge and Earthshaker. Dunno if Agi or Int characters are very beginner friendly. Is it best to jump straight into online or play against bots? I have 5 hours game time against bots so I'm learning heroes but nothing else it seems.

Try Skeleton King and Anti-Mage. They're fairly easy to pick up.

Just go Noobki and kill steal when the chance presents itself.

I'm new too, and I've had the most success so far with Dazzle and Vengeful Spirit. But I usually play priests/healers in MMO's, so I'm used to the support role.

So I recently got in:

I kind of hate the shortcuts for skills. I'm so used to DOTA 1 shotcuts. qwer, wtf?!

Impale is e, storm bolt is t, magic missile is c, sticky napalm is c, fuck all this standardized shit!

Also, I finally need to get around to fixing my desktop so I can play a smooth DOTA 2 game.

lol ursa

"I hit so fast and you can't get away, nyah nyah!"

I roll up with Dazzle.

POISON TOUCH!

Ursa dies. Oh, he has aegis?

GOOD TIMES :3

STOP RECOMMENDING NEW PLAYERS PLAY CARRIES

Seriously. People have theoretically played video games. I doubt that new players go "oh no I have never played a videogame with more than two buttons before!"

Consoles have 8 buttons these days, and PC shooters often have at least 8 that you are regularly pressing.

The things that new players don't understand are timing/positioning (so they get caught out of position and die) what to build and how to play against different kinds of characters.

Some people are horrible at supports and decent at carries.

However, I would agree that if you're completely new to the game/genre, then you shouldn't start with a carry. Support is easier to pick up. But there's no reason to stick to support if you find you don't like it.

Is there any way to make Ctrl + click not control disconnected heroes? I was just playing as Broodmother and I use that to move me and my spiderlings, but it was also moving our disconnected Pudge!

New players can usually pick up on how to use skills, especially as a carry--that's not the difficult part. As a carry it's your responsibility to farm like crazy AND show up to team fights, where you usually get your kills (game sense); newer people are usually not great at last hitting and don't really have a knack for farming--usually costing their team the game with some massive QQ. It's much easier to pick up a support to get used to positioning, and to see the game in action; you learn how to farm and how to be efficient by watching others do it and as a support your in a perfect position to do that while babysitting the carry.

Of course all this is moot if you're playing in a low bracket where everyone is bad, but Dota 2 has no indicator of player skill yet, so you can't accurately judge your team/the enemy team.

Are you controlling him on accident at your fountain? If so.. Just move him away from the spawn area...

Those things that they don't know are some of the things it is absolutely crucial to know on a carry. Read what Anbokr says. He sometimes know's what he's talking about

I'm not sure what happened. I just noticed suddenly when I was in the lane that Pudge was with me and always right next to me and blocking me sometimes even. Then this cauged Pudge to die. I realized right after that that he disconnected and I was accidentally controlling him.

That's a ridiculous line to take. I don't much fancy playing support in dota; Even if I'm doing my job i die every teamfight and all i get to buy is wards all game. But if I'm playing with people who are better than I am at other roles, I'll play support because winning is the most important thing. If you don't believe that, you need to find another game to play. I'm sick and tired of people saying "it doesn't matter if you win as long as ur having fun." That's fine in a game where you more or less do your own thing like a shooter, but if the difference between winning and losing is a piece of garbage who doesn't take the game as seriously as the other 9 people in it and plays like he wants to lose, I become a rage volcano spewing hot mountain dew into the mic.

Learn the basics first, which is support. Why the HELL would you tell someone to start as a carry? They're CARRIES for a reason. I would much rather have a shitty-but-learning support than an antimage that is constantly feeding/doesn't know how to farm and the list goes on.
