Steam Winter Sale Gift Obtaining Guide for Santas

Any tips on the Atom Zombie Smasher one? It was really hard when I tried it.
edit: nvm got it, just watched a play through
 
I forgot that I played Spiral Knights earlier this year. My steam inventory says I have 2800 crowns so I guess I'll be able to get that achievement pretty fast after I reinstall is and if I can remember my sign in.

I have 5 lumps of coal and a 50% off valve games coupon but I've already done a bunch of the upcoming goals(at least 9) so hopefully I actually get a game or something good.
 
what's the deal with games that have multiple achievements? Do you get a gift per achievement or do you have to complete all the achievements for a given game to get a gift?

I don't think we know how it'll work with this sale but people have said for the summer sale you only got a ticket for 1 of the achievements, the others were just there for fun I guess.

If that's the case I hope they don't pick the Trine achievement for Bit Trip Runner. That game is kicking my arse.
 
Hell a lot of people even thought the weapon achievements in Killing Floor were Xmas Achievements (despite the fact that they lack the Christmas theme).
 
The Dungeon Defender one is very tricky. Not only to you have to be flexible with your build since there are limited defensive points, you also have to get lucky with where the presents go the first couple of rounds since the time limit is so short at first. I recommend at least a level 50 monk and apprentice (On Medium difficulty!), both focused on building. This challenge is much easier with at least 2 people. After finally beating it Dragonlife and I lost during the Boss fight since you have to defend santa against hordes of enemies while fighting frosty. I recommend 3 people, One to focus on defense of hot spots, and 2 to run the presents back and forth. Always have someone ready to pick up the next one while the other player is currently delivering. Don't build any defenses until you know the destination of the gifts. Keep in mind that it changes every round but at the same time your defensive points go up. The map actually gets much easier as it goes on. As soon as you know the destination build a Ensnare Aura on each side of the tree or in the direction that the enemies come from and a lightening tower next to the tree. That'll protect you from just about everything except for lightening resistant guys. At the end all your defenses dissappear and you've got to defend Santa. Drop down off of the bridge right in front of your spawn and throw up a bunch of defenses around the tree. Be sure to attack Frosty on the side opposite of Santa to draw him away. I don't know if it'll turn into a daily achievement, but if it does, I'll be happy to help some people through the map.

Yeah I hope they go with the braid one since I got that without even trying. I don't think I'll be able to get the others, especially the one that requires friends to play it. I don't know anyone that has it :(

That achievement actually has nothing to do with real life friends, it's just referring to 3 mascots (eg the super meat boy guy) that show up in the background of three different levels (one of them is pretty late in the game) that you have to run past. Sounds easy enough but the game is really hard and it hurts my eyes.

I honestly hope that it isn't a daily achievement. They really didn't consider the casual players when doing the challenge. Difficulty wise it's ok, but most of the challenges with a time limit are unwinnable unless you have good gear.

Well, finally got this one, and finished all Hard levels while I was there. This game is stupidly hard (not even gonna bother with the bonus stages) but at least you can think it through, unlike SMB one which is for masochists only. :P
 
Someone has uploaded save files for Toki Tori to the Treasure hunt wiki page, and I added some instructions on how to get it to work. Just placing the correct save file in the correct folder and launching the game is enough to get the achievement. From what I've heard, this was a fairly long and somewhat difficult achievement to do on your own but it is now trivial because of this save file.
 
Yay.. seems that I just got Counter-Strike: Source with the "Check your inventory - you've got a gift!" achievement x3

Didnt work for me.
 
The Polynomial is another really easy one. Just select the Christmas level, set difficulty to "none" if you like, then fly around into ten of the many snowflakes on the level.

Also this game is pretty trippy, I like it.
 
so how hard is the rise of the inmortals achivement? I am a bit of a LoL player and I don't know if I want to try that one =/

The game is lame and hideous, but if your group up with people here, the achievement should be a piece of cake.
 
Yeah the toki tori achievement wasn't as hard as I was told it was, maybe it is if you don't use any help but I used the video that was in the OP of the steam forums topic and I got all 10 in about 10 minutes total.

The polynomial one also takes about 2 minutes to do, really really easy. I'll be working on the defcon one later.

Defcon is pretty easy. Just play alone. Santa shoud appear. only build silos and fast forward the game until Defcon 1. Then just try to nuke him. Takes maybe 5-10 minutes max.
 
So what exactly do I have to do in Rise of the Immortals and how long is it going to take?

Also, just read that the RotI guys had to turn down their servers and restart due to huge traffic. Guess everyone is trying to play right now :)

I think it didnt work for me because I already had the level cleared. I had to drop the entire contents of the rar file in there to get ti work.
