Peter Regin is out indefinitely with shoulder injury. Suddenly, the Turris trade is looking like a godsend.
Regin injured again (probably for the season) ? big surprise there. I knew he wasn't 100% when he couldn't take a single faceoff.
Smith is better on #3C anyway.
It is said that the Sens will be running with 7 D-Men tonight. So I have to guess that either Lee or Carkner is moving to forward. Thus my guess is that Smith stays on the 4th and Foligno assumes the vacant spot at centre.
It all depends on the return. If, for instance, we'd be able to get a more offensive-prone first line center by packaging Plekanec and a promising kid like Beaulieu, I'd accept.Under absolutely no circumstances should we move Plekanec. Along with Price, Subban, and Patches, he's one of a very small group of "untouchable" players on the team that we would have to be retarded to let go of.

He's the only player amongst the ones I mentioned I'd be reluctant to see going away, but we haven't had a first line center in decades.
Ok, but how?Land a true #1 in Montreal and watch Plekanec's numbers skyrocket. He's already proven he can put up 70-80 points in this league.

Top UFAs 2012 :Trade Cammy for a pick, Gomez to AHL. Cap space acquired.
After reading those comments by Cunneyworth yesterday, I just think he's exactly what we don't need right now with those players.
The whole team needs a fucking whipping, not a pat in the back. I wish we had someone like Tortorella right now that would just train those lazy players until they're sweating blood.
All I want for Christmas is a new GM/Coach combination. After that, like MPW, I want the new GM to clear house and try to get decent return from our underachievers. I'm pretty sure Cammalleri still has some value for a team that absolutely wants to make a splash in the playoffs. Plekanec has great value too (not even sure I'd trade him). Gionta can help a deeper team as well. Gomez we're stuck with, but I'd buy him out.
Just start getting draft picks for this year's deep draft and youngsters, and build around the players that actually give a damn.

Scott Gomez buyout from CapGeek.com
Habs would be paying him for the next 4 years.
Watch Hansen's skates. At that speed, Zetterberg's push is the difference.Still seems iffy as it looks like he just loses his balance as there wasn't too much of a shove
Lupul, kessel, daniel sedin... Only 3 players in the league who haven't had consecutive pointless games awww yeah
The guy made a mistake.
Daniel Sedin went without a point on October 25 and 26.

Nice that they got a call like that right since it seemed like all 'goalie interference/non-goal' type stuff had been incorrectly called recently against the Canucks.

Do Leafs fans think Kessel will even be in the top ten in scoring come April? I think he'll be out of the picture by February.
Interesting way to frame it.He's on a cold streak and still putting up points
Interesting way to frame it.
October: 18 points in 11 games
November: 14 points in 14 games
December: 7 points in 8 games

Maybe because I haven't seen as many games this month but I'm actually impressed he's still almost a point a game. Felt like he was in a decent slump the last few games but guess not.
Would have been last year, but not any other season post-lockout.That's still almost a point a game pace. If he continues that for the remaining 49 games he'll finish with 85 points which should be good enough for a spot in the top 10.

There are a lot of players at a PPG pace on his heels. We'll see.
Top UFAs 2012 :
Ryan Suter, Nashville Predators.
Zach Parise, NJ Devils.
Alexander Semin, Washington Capitals.
Niklas Kronwall, Detroit Red Wings
R.J. Umberger, Columbus Blue Jackets.
Ales Hemsky, Edmonton Oilers.
Brad Stuart, Detroit Red Wings.
Chris Kunitz, Pittsburgh Penguins.
Shane Doan, Phoenix Coyotes.
Mikhail Grabovski, Toronto Maple Leafs.
There's no dominating center there. In fact, there's nothing I want on my team there, apart from Parise, Suter and maybe Kunitz.

You guys (plus the national hockey media) are constantly talking about Kessel's production and his place in the scoring race. Suffer the consequences when people point out his decline. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter where he finishes. It seems like non-Leafs fans care more about Kessel dropping out of the top 10 then Leafs fans care about him staying there. You get the constant Tabris watch each game about his points and +/- or when the sisters are going to pass him. Most Leafs fans I know are surprised he's stayed in the top 10 for this long and would be happy to see him stay there the entire season, but it's not the end of the world if he doesn't.
Wings already re-signed Kronwall and I expect Stuart to be as well.

Tabris is Tabris. He's not an example for anything but the failings of our education system.
Fix'd. Although to be fair Tinordi is looking great.I'm hoping we somehow land Grigorenko, but I know we'll just end up getting 5 big american defenceman.

You were so wrong Subban
@FJ's point about building around a goalie being useless, look at Boston, Thomas won them the cup, without Thomas playing like he did Boston wouldn't have won the cup, and Plekanec isn't going anywhere doesn't he have a NTC? He just had a new kid too, I wouldn't move him and Bealieu, who is one of our top prospects right now. Also Hal Gill has now scored more goals then Gomez in the last like 50 games or something like that. Hal fucking Gill, no wonder this team is hitting the shitter. Thankfully I have a birthday party to go to tonight so I'll be missing the game.
Thank you, ambassador.I can't control the media, but for Leafs posters here we're just excited to see how far Kessel has come at a young age. He's gone from a streaky scorer who would be invisible for 10 games or more to someone who you always notice out there on most nights. That's a good sign for our team going forward. The fact he hasn't gone consecutive games without a point just shows how consistent he's been so far. That being said, most people on here don't think it'll last to this degree, but hope he's still fairly consistent the rest of the way. The only thing Leafs fans hope for is a playoff spot. Individual accomplishments mean nothing.
The thing about Kessel that all Leafs fans have noticed is that even though his goal scoring has dropped off he is still creating amazing plays and setting up players. He creates a lot of space and his passing ability is extremely underrated. I dont know if there is another player who is able to distribute/shoot the puck so well when its in close to their body.
Lupul has definitely helped Kessel's game this season. The fact he's been playing so well gives Kessel a bit more space out there. It's the same way the Sedin sisters have to play off each other and are a package deal. Individually they wouldn't be as good.

Lupul is good along the boards which phil is ... lets not even talk about his board play, well you cant because it doesn't exist.
Kessel has speed. Board play is for slow players...like the Sedins.
Not quite, he just needs to sit a couple games. He played so well last year and so many minutes everyone's expecting him to play like a vet, dude is only in his 2nd pro year, playing the most minutes on the team against teams top pairings, and playing the PP and PK, he just needs to have his work load dialed back, and simplify his game. Needs to work on that 1 timer.after Subban's own-goal and his turn-over that cost them another goal... I think he would be a good contender to return to Hamilton
Kessel has boosted Lupul and his stats this season. No doubt. Where would Kessel be with a true #1 centre all season long?
At 50-55 points.
That's where.
