See his girlfriend? I'd be pretty confident too.

Nothing against Overeem. In fact, I wish the two didn't fight tonight, because either way, whoever was going to lose was going to turn into a nobody pretty quick after. It would either seem like Overeem can't handle it in the big leagues in UFC if he lost and he'd fade, or...well....we are witnessing now what would happen if Brock lost, and not shocking at all.

Overeem has gotten some heat and in some sense deservedly so for mostly beating on middling opposition since going HW, but outside of the Werdum fight he's been pretty monstrous, and he's had good success in K1.

Biggest question, especially versus JDS, is how good Overeem's chin is at his current size. He got jarred pretty badly by Badr Hari but still managed to keep his footing, and Badr hits hard and is a beast of a kickboxer, anyway.

Even against a guy like JDS it's hard to see Overeem losing a stand-up fight to anyone in MMA.

He's always had solid Muay Thai but now he has ridiculous size and power to go along with it. Nobody can do anything to this guy in the clinch, and his timing is good enough that if JDS was getting the upper hand, he could probably get in clinch range pretty effectively and work from there.

Gentlemen, I found a friend to come watch and keep me awake turning the Super Bowl of The Bad MMA. Heading out to grab some energy drinks for an all nighter.

Loved how when Brock got kicked his face looked like the baby from Total recall coming out of his stomach. Just a spoiled little farm hand that can't handle life in the city.

Nope. Feel free to tune out.

Joe & Goldie will wrap up the night at the end. Nothing much to watch. Press conference will be here: http://www.ufc.com/media/141-post-pc

lol, doesn't matter since the XBL stream cut off in the 3rd round of a prelim match.

Overall, decent performance. I would rather just pay a cable company to see it on TV
which I don't do >_>

As for the fights themselves, pretty good IMO even if three of them were done relatively quickly. Feel pretty bad for Brock though. And it was pretty cool to see the fights with my dad (since he's more into MMA than me)

This 100%. I would love to see a guy like Badr Hari in the UFC.

please explain how jds stands a chance against a much bigger "k-1" champ striker (i know, i know)? overeem's best game is standing, jds best game is standing, but standing reem >>>>>>>>>> dos santos. i really cant fathom how anyone can say otherwise

IMO JDS has the feet to run circles around a prowling Reem. Still got Reem, but that might be the selling point...

Don't follow Pro Wrestling but is it really suffering that much? Motherfucking The Rock is back....

It's been on a downward slide since the Monday Night Wars ended in 2000 (2001 shuttering of wcw was just a formality pretty much). It won't ever hit that popularity level again, nothing will actually since there is a lot more shit now to distract the young male demographic.

JDS can certainly have some success with his boxing, but if Overeem manages to get that underhook, it's not going to be anything pretty for JDS. Overeem can land some knees to the midsection and then toss him to the ground, then pound him.

Werdum managed to pull guard a couple of times against Overeem, to no effect, but outside of that every time they got into clinch range, Overeem would just throw Werdum to the ground as if tossing a small child. He didn't pounce on him for obvious reasons, but against JDS he'd probably do the same thing as Brett Rogers and jump on him after the throw. And I don't know how well JDS would fight off his back, particularly against someone with Overeem's size and GnP.

have you not seen his k-1 fights against better, faster guys there?

Don't get me wrong I have. But in recent fights Overeem has been tentative and patient(not a bad thing) and measuring his shots more... In the octagaon JDS in his fights just looks faster
