NFL 2011 Wild Card |OT| Where Everyone Is In Like Flynn

Thats for sure.I don't know if any parents would want to send teir kids there.

Eh, there is probably a (smaller but healthy) portion of dipshit parents who are still defending Joe Paterno as well. The initiation is probably chant "One of us!" and drive an underage boy to Florida.

Had a weird dream last night. Texans were in the Super Bowl and they won.

I would like to see that happen. But that is only slightly more likely than the Steelers doing it. What I wouldnt give for a real backup qb like Aaron Rodgers or that Flynn guy they keep talking about. Green Bay has really mastered the art of picking a average backup qb, surrounding him with a ton of talent and then just sitting back and letting nature take its course when the backup stabs the "starter" in the back, takes his job and then texts pictures of his small penis to every hot Mexican reporter.

I want the Steelers to lay down against the Tebows. Gimp Ben is garbage and I don't want to lose to the Pats/Ravens in the playoffs. I hope they tie in the championship game and everyone gets injured.

Some H-Town rappers made a playoff rap video for the Houston Texans.

I'm a Cowboys fan but this is pretty cool. JJ Watt and Brian Cushing make an appearance lol

sweet! thanks for that bump. I hadn't seen the video.

Quiet. Keep letting them think that Cruz is the only Pro Bowl wide receiver on our team.

Excellent write up of the game plans by CBS:

Thus, don’t expect the Falcons to do anything more with their pass-rush than the occasional zone blitzes that they’ve used all season. They’re better off focusing on Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. The Redskins discombobulated the Giants in Week 15 by bracketing the top receivers with corners underneath and safeties over the top. Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett was betting that Manning would get impatient and force some balls into those coverages. He was correct.

Stifling the receivers outside is a great approach because it forces Manning to work to his third and fourth reads. He’s more than capable of that….as long as his protection holds up. The Falcons have only a good-but-not-great pass-rush (free agent pickup Ray Edwards has been a disappointment), but it’s a pass-rush that’s capable of exploding at any moment thanks to the supple speed of John Abraham. When Manning’s primary reads are covered, this offense goes from being big-play oriented to dink and dunk. That bodes well for the Falcons (see item 5).

Nice write-up.

The commentary on bracketing the receivers is a big reason why having Jake Ballard back for this game will be huge. Without him, there's no viable tight end option. Pascoe and Beckum had a few catches while he was out but never made any real impact (aside from the Pascoe hop on Sunday!) the way Ballard does in the passing game. He wasn't there for the Skins game in particular either which led to the drop offs to Ware, Pascoe etc. It doesn't help the defense checked out for that game to boot.

Not to mention, Mario Manningham will need to get his head out of the clouds and catch the type of perfectly thrown balls that he's been dropping all season long. He's a quality receiver but his mental lapses and lack of concentration have been maddening this season. If there was ever a time to put it together, it's this Sunday.

The Falcons have not completely abandoned their heavy run game (they constantly used a fullback or extra tight end last week, likely to assure that Tampa Bay’s atrocious middle linebacker, Mason Foster, stayed on the field).

Steelers update:

http://www.wpxi.com/news/30148381/detail.html

SEVEN FIELDS, Pa. -- Channel 11 News has learned that the running backs coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers was badly burned in a house fire in Seven Fields, Butler County.

The fire started shortly before 3 a.m. on Friday along Jameson Way.

Kirby Wilson, 50, was flown to a Pittsburgh-area hospital. There is no word on his condition.

I hope he is able to come out of that healthy and able to function. Just terrible.:(

Bill Ruskell future, look into your heart, you know it's true. Bears will search unsuccessfully for a GM for 2 months or so. Halas hall is going to get spurned by every decent candidate, and shortly before free agency and the combine they are going to try to spin it that Ruskell was the guy they wanted all along.

FML

Don't forget about the press conference when the team announces after a thorough search of candidates Mike Tice is the best option for offensive coordinator.

My Texans fandom might be extended much longer than initially anticipated in front of a potential 2012 train wreck season.

That's horrible, I hope the burns weren't too severe but considering he had to be air lifted to a hospital, I'm not too confident :(

Since burns are an injury that take time to reveal their severity, it is common practice to airlift patients immediately for treatment. The faster the treatment, the more tissue can be saved (even with second degree burns). Hopefully, he will only be in for a few days. Extensive third degree burns usually require prolonged treatment in a burn center.
But he will be out of work for a while, optimistically back for the next round of playoffs if the Steelers can keep Tebow under 100 yards rushing and passing.

It's actually 4 minutes. And would you rather it be country? of course it's a wrap song why would it be anything else

yeah the time stamp is wrong. I think there is another Texans rap song, "Red, White, n Blue"..something or other.
Dre LaDon - Red White & Blue

But hey if you hate rap, there is always Clay Walker! (he's performing tomorrow)
Houston Texans Country theme song!

Well it’s finally here. I’ve been waitin all week
Just to kick this thing off.
I’ve been rockin away on the edge of my seat,
Now I’m ready to roll.
Here they come to mix things up.
Bet your boots they know what I’m talkin about (Speaking).

Let’s get ready to root for our team.
All you Texans, get up and scream.

It’s football time in Houston!
And we’re ready to play.
We’ve got no time to lose now,
It’s red’n white and blue today.

This came from a neighbor:

“About 2:45 a.m., I was awoken by a number of pounding on doors,” neighbor David Sebesta told WPXI.com. “Looked out my window, and there was policemen, about five or six, going down this row of houses, waking people up. I could smell burning. Fire trucks came and pulled a man out, looked like he was pretty badly burned, and carted him off to a hospital.”

That's awful. Hope he makes it through. Steelers win 12 games and yet somehow are having an unlucky season.

Should have worn my Texans swag to work.... :( The Gear is in full force today.

Cardinals may be welcoming Todd Haley back on their staff. Possible he may take over the offense again:

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/car...ona-cardinals-todd-haley-possible-return.html

Haley and Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt have been friends for years, and Haley was offensive coordinator in 2008 and 2009 when the Cardinals won consecutive NFC West titles.

It's unknown what title Haley would have should he return to the Cardinals, but he likely would be placed in charge of the offense again.

The Cardinals have not been nearly as good on offense since Haley left, but his departure also coincided with the retirement of quarterback Kurt Warner. The Cardinals have had four different starting quarterbacks since Warner retired.

When Haley left, Mike Miller was promoted from receivers coach to passing game coordinator. Russ Grimm was assistant head coach/offensive line and run game coordinator. After that season, Miller was promoted to offensive coordinator, while Grimm remained assistant head coach. He continued to have a strong influence on the offensive game plan.

Whisenhunt would have to create a position for Haley, which would mean either re-organizing his existing coaching staff or adding a coach

Mike Tice promoted to Offensive Coordinator? (Sorry if late)

Not sure what to feel about that. Apparently he's going to be mostly in charge of the run game and paired with a passing game coach.

Wasn't that the worst case scenario for the Bears? :D

Dulac just reporting that Pouncey will not play Sunday either.

Sweet Tebow, his powers are working overtime. Though that's more Tomlin's fuck up. Ben and Pouncey should NOT have been playing that final game against the Browns.

Beat me to it.

Manningham, Ballard, and the two backs need to step up big this week in the passing game. I was going to do a study last night but I got caught up, I am willing to say that the Giants offense has lost more games for us this year than the Giants defense by not executing nor moving the ball. 14 points against Washington week 1, 10 in week 15 (three ints by Manning), 25 points against the Seahawks but 3 ints and 2 fumbles lost, and only 10 against the Eagles D the second time we played them thanks to untimely drops and shitty execution.

That's four of our seven losses that are a direct result of just awful offensive execution. The other three, that I pin on the defense: SF, Packers + Refs, and the Saints.

We're all saying yeah cover Cruz so Nicks can beast on dat secondary - but how do we know he'll actually catch the balls that hit him in the hands on Sunday?
