No one here would even dare suggest that, that's like calling me a Falcons fan.

You? A Falcons fan?

Good Tebow Christ the bandwagoners are showing up. It's like they all discovered the Off Topic side exists after blowing their loads on the 3DS/iOS wars topics.

I think the Steelers are gonna have a battle tomorrow. Ben is a gimp and hasn't played well since the injury. Pouncey is out and the line becomes weaker right at the core when he's gone. No fucking idea why Tomlin played them both last week. I guess if the NFL hadn't changed the Ravens/Bengals game to match up time-wise, then Tomlin might have sat them both (had he known the outcome wouldn't have mattered).

While the Steelers have had good games against shit opponents this year (Rams, Seahawks to name two), they've also looked barely above mediocre against shit teams like Indy, KC, the Jags, the Browns.

While I expect themt to win, I don't expect it to be pretty. But then Ben our's QB, and pretty ain't his thang.

According to Pro Football Talk, Fisher is on the verge of being the Rams coach.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/06/report-fisher-on-the-verge-of-becoming-rams-coach/

How nice of them to basically discredit the premise of their own headline four paragraphs into the story. I'm not even sure I'd agree with the statement of the NFC-W being less "power-packed," or at least it's certainly not an easy road to get over either respective division champ right now.

Balzer lays out the case why Fisher is leaning towards the Rams. The NFC West is less power-packed than the AFC East, the Rams have a quarterback, and the team doesn’t have a general manager yet. It all makes a lot of sense.

1. is this true about the divisions? maybe. but if the AFC east is better than the NFC west it's only slightly. pats and niners finished with the same record, jets aren't good, bills aren't good, dolphins aren't good, rams aren't good, seahawks aren't good, cards aren't good.

2. the rams LITERALLY have a qb, but as far as a good qb no they don't at this time. that's not to say that bradford or clemens (who looked MUCH better than bradford with the same team) can't become good qb's but why have they earned the benefit of the doubt? because of college? no.

I have to say I agree with FMT. Matt Moore played really well this year and I don't see why Sam Bradford would be rated any better.

i would definitely take matt moore over sam bradford at this point in time. if the dolphins and rams played today, the dolphins would destroy the rams. it's not like the rams have peyton manning as a building block. the dolphins actually have a pretty solid team overall. the rams need so much help i wouldn't even know where to begin. their defensive line looked better than it is thanks to steve spagnulos schemes.

i don't think fisher is a great coach but i expect to see improvement from either the rams or dolphins if he goes there. if his decision is to go to the rams because they have sam bradford then lulz

I don't know that Sam Bradford is a future superstar, but I will at least say that I recall him performing pretty well in his rookie season, and going through a sophomore slump isn't unheard of. The whole team seemed to fall back, not just Bradford. And as for benefit of the doubt because of college, actually yes I do think that he does and should receive some, especially considering the conditions under which they got him. Unless you know the guy has major health or work ethic issues, or he's consistently setting record lows for QB performances, you don't give up on a first overall pick QB after only two years, especially on a team that still has a lot of building to do. Maybe next year is the real proving grounds but it's hard to justify flushing that large of an investment with such a small sample size to look at.

That'll probably be easier from this point on, since even first-round rookies won't be making the same ridiculous amounts of cash that Bradford got, but for this case it would be really irresponsible to shove Bradford off from a financial standpoint.

Good thing this game isn't on a Saturday. I was worried about that.

Even though he is terribly depleted after his battle with the dark lord Brady, Tebow might have enough power, combined with a Sunday force multiplier, to smite the lesser dark minion Roethlisburger.

what happened to bradford is a classic case of a poor coaching job. he cannot get the ball down the field. he is a very similar player to alex smith. he needs to be in a controlled environment where he doesn't make mistakes, he needs a good running game and a good defense. bradford won 7 games as a rookie because they had a west coast, short passing game offense.

his completion % went down by 7% but his YPA actually went up (by .1!) under mcdaniels. he was getting destroyed though. took more sacks in less games. bradford can be a mid-range starter in the league but he needs to be in the right system and they need to get some talent around him. some QB's can raise the play of their teammates and really be the centerpiece of a team but he isn't that qb and i doubt he ever will be

Well then, from a base talent perspective, do you believe that Matt Moore is a superior quarterback to Bradford? I agree that it takes the right strategy to make somebody like Sam excel and maybe Fisher sees something there that he can work with.

That said, the Dolphins have had a good season more recently than the Rams, and outside of the Patriots it doesn't seem like any of the other teams in the AFC-East are all that scary. I don't know how long Fisher thinks he's going to continue coaching but if he's in this for the true long-haul then he might as well take whichever job in which he has the most synergy with the front-office.

Not that I've been posting much recently, due to work ruining my life, but I've always been reading and all these newcomers come playoff time always make me chuckle.

yeah i guess that's a good point. bradford has potential but it's just going to be more of an uphill climb for fisher to get the rams into contention than the dolphins. but what do i know! maybe the rams win the division next year and we finish last, then we draft barkley!

*Shrug* Eh, people are allowed to join in the fun whenever they please. It's whether they stick around if and when things go poorly that's more interesting to notice.

Edit: To answer FMT's point, I agree that the Dolphins are probably an easier gig to get playoff-bound quicker, which is why I question how long Fisher thinks he's going to last. The best reason he'd lean to the Rams over the 'Phins would be if he sees something in either the Rams' personnel or the competition in the NFC-West in general that he can take advantage of in about 2-3 years from now. It's not an easy turnaround but perhaps it carries better potential for a longer run.

I always figured the "playoff lifelong" thing was always overstated, of course there are going to be less recognizable faces when posters who mostly post during their team's game during a 16 game weekend are all posting during a 2 game Saturday, presuming that many fans of other teams are going to be watching the playoff games.

Not saying the don't exist, though.

Funny, I used that same excuse every time we lost this year.

I used the exact opposite excuse (don't have an NFL O) the year before.
It's so ridiculous, we beat the Saints and the Falcons.
And if we had a few breaks go our way could have had a closer game with the Packers, I would trade all four of our wins to be the only team that beat them.
Even the second Saints game COULD have been won.
Then we just start losing by more and more, man FUCK this season.
I wish I could just forget the whole fucking thing.
*Starts cry-singing "Hold On" like Donald Glover*

My team's not much better

Packers suck
Bears Suck
saints Sucks

I wonder if changing of GM/OC buy love smith more time. I can't believe how much power he had. Didn't realize he was one of the untouchable.

Seriously , Getting a GM with approval of head coach?

Christmas tomorrow, so no football for me. Go Houston!!!!!!

Because you're clearly the weakest matchup for the Ravens. Well, Denver too, but that ain't happening

I just don't want it to be a blowout. Anything but that.

No offense to Squicken, classy guy, but fuck off Rams! Trying to take both Keim AND Horton? I'm not too worried about Horton because I'd be surprised if they don't go with Fisher but if he declined for some reason.... I knew it was only a matter of time before Horton got nods but after ONE season as a DC? Really? I want Keim for the draft too...fortunately it's only talks at the moment.

They are also interviewing some TEN front office people as well. Their front office interview requests are all over the place, and Sarkasian turned down a coaching interview. So I think Fisher will be the guy, but really have no idea where they go for GM. Horton is obviously a possible Rooney Rule hire, or they consider him a potential fall back if Fisher goes to MIA. I expect Fisher to be making like $8 million/yr with at least 6 years, whereas a coordinator hire will make $3 or $4 million

It's my understanding that personnel contracts run through after the draft. Keim couldn't come over until May.

Edit: To answer FMT's point, I agree that the Dolphins are probably an easier gig to get playoff-bound quicker, which is why I question how long Fisher thinks he's going to last. The Dolphins are definitely in better shape than the Rams for next year. As far as Bradford, there's no defending him b/c everything about 2011 was a disaster. Fisher's is going to have to nail that OC hire

I also agree that the NFCW is tougher than the AFCE. Both the Bills and Dolphins seem to be stuck with some bad organizational issues, while everyone besides the Rams look on the upswing in the NFCW

It feels weird to not be discussing what we're gonna do with our top 3 pick in the draft.

To an extent I'd almost prefer that over some of the stuff that came in to local radio today. During a lot of the day you'd almost think that the upstart Saints were coming up to Detroit to play a clearly superior Lions team. A lot of folks seem to be confusing what they hope to happen with what they actually believe will happen. Meanwhile I'm wondering if there's a single person in New Orleans who would feel bold enough to pick the Lions to win.

Hmm. Not nervous about tomorrow yet. I don't even know what to think. Got no idea how tomorrow is going to go.

If the Texans lose, I just hope they fall giving it their best shot, which means running the hell out of Foster and Tate. I don't think I could handle another Kubiak conservative short passing game loss.

i posted this in the evening yesterday!

that song/video gets me hypeddd well done but as i mentioned earlier...the jacoby jones name drop was uncalled for

playoff game is tomorrow this is cray. i love how bungle people are calling into our radio station from cincy talking noise. like all of a sudden they "care" about their team...gtfo

Sorry I didn't realize you posted it already. But do you happen to know why the original has chamillionaire while this one has Z-Ro?

It feels weird to not be discussing what we're gonna do with our top 3 pick in the draft.

It feels weird to not be internally tormented by the annual emotional tug-of-war between the reluctantly hopeful and enthusiastic side of me that thinks that maybe, just maybe this is finally going to be our year, and the grounded realistic side of me that's involuntarily bracing my body for the Fail Train to run me over and drag my corpse into the off season.

Spent all day re-doing living room and home theater just in time for this weekends playoff games!!!! WHOOOOOOO!!!! Cant wait.

Good luck to the AFC teams, battling it out to play the Packers in the Super Bowl :)
