Him being a nice guy might be a problem. Seems all the best QBs are sort of assholes. I don't quite get all the hoopla over Fisher, and what's soon to be a massive contract, but I think he's smart enough to know he has to throw to win these days.
And McNair was good, but his accuracy was always an issue. It was tough to build an offense around him. Now his talent evaluation of QBs might be a problem. In '06, he wanted Leinart, Chow wanted Cutler, but Adams forced Vince Young on them. Then he went and signed Kerry Collins. He just never really got enough from the position through his tenure as a coach
Evidently they do if I remember what I read in preseason but they're not supposed to per league rules or some such.

I meant to say congrats Texans GAF earlier. They played a great game today. I still cant believe how loud the stadium was, that was such an awesome scene.
18 years since last playoff appearance in the city, and of course the first in texans history.
can't remember where i read it earlier but the decibel level in the stadium was equivalent to that of you holding a buzz saw 3 feet away from your ear. pretty fucking loud
It was pretty great to see them get over the hump and overcome their issues. Team stands to be decent for a while now if they've finally shook that "want to win" attitude rather than expecting to win like they should.
Obviously I'm a Texans fan and live in Houston, but I believe this team is set for awhile especially on defense. Our defense is very young. Our main stars on that side of the ball are locked up for a while (except Mario Williams) and are only going to get better. All of those drafts that the Texans spent the majority of their picks on defense is paying off.
Offensively they need to draft a nice WR in the 1st or 2nd round to complement AJ. When AJ went down the Texans WR was absolutely trash. Texans are set at TE and QB. Foster contract issue will be coming up soon but I gotta believe they're gonna keep him.
They are in very good shape.
I wonder what they're gonna do about Mario though. Defense has not missed a beat since he went out and this is the 2nd consecutive season he's had big injury problems.

No. Yates will probably slip into the 2nd string position, but Schaub is the QB. As much as I dislike him and his shortcomings he is an above average QB. When Schaub went out Texans failed to score 20 points in each of the remaining games until week 16 and today.

I would think no given that his statline was pretty mediocre (horrible really if you subtract out AJ's TD). Plus Arian Foster was such a huge part of their offense today.

His stat line wasn't that hot, but he converted on some pretty big 3rd and longs.
Need another WR to go with AJ. Every where else is pretty solid.

I was saying if he had a good game next round and they advanced, I know he didnt play great today, even though the team as a whole looked really good.
Bowser, I had no interest in how Cam would do before the season, but after hearing Bradshaws insane rant I was really pulling for him. It was great seeing him shut up all the doubters this year.

He basically did exactly what you expect a backup QB to do: Protect the football and manage the game. Schaub is a Top 10 QB though. TJ Yates right now would be lucky to be Chad Pennington.

LOL the Packers are getting 3 firsts. I was listening to Ray Didinger today and he was saying that teams are really high on Flynn and he could see a bidding war for him. I was kidding about the 3 1st round picks but I do think they will franchise him now.

Texans need another CB. BAL and CIN can't exploit it, but Kareem Jackson is terrible. Also need a stouter DT, and obviously someone to compliment Dre at WR. Schaub is a liability but he's hard to upgrade. Mario pretty much has to be gone, but it's hard to trade him considering his salary demands.

Thanks for the link. I think he would like to come back but I dont think he will be okay with having the wide 9 forced on him and Eagles cant fire Washburn after how good the DL was this year. Hopefully Juan can be better next year.

the problem is you have no LB's. the eagles LB's are maybe the worst in the league and then you're running the wide 9. it's fucking stupid.

Matthews and Cheney played much better towards the end of the year. Foku is the worst LB in the nfl by a huge amount though. The Eagles have to find a replacement for him next year. Rolle is a decent backup as well. Their D really got it together the last 4 weeks, hopefully they add a few pieces next year and they should have a really good D.

Rolle looked nice but every one of those guys are undersized to be playing in a wide 9 scheme. i dont mind them on the outside as much but we NEED a big monster at LB in the middle with our first rounder. then some combination of O-Line, LB again, and DB with our two second rounders and third

I would love to see them get a LB in FA this offseason. I am not sure about any of the LBs in this years draft. I guess I would be happy with Vontaze Burfict if that is who they get.

No young QB to groom, don't really care who the QB coach is. Something was amiss though, not sure what happened but he was on the outs.
