He's definitely been overshadowed by Silva and Toure in City's midfield. He'd be the main man in Uniteds midfield.

Even if he got to best form Nasri wouldn't solve all of Uniteds midfield problems. We still need someone who'll win the ball and distribute it quickly.

I can't get behind this idea that all 2 footed challenges are risky. ANY challenge is risky. I think if a 2 footer wins the ball and there is no contact with the player then it's a good tackle. Mick McCarthy, you can't tackle these days blah blah blah.

I agree it didn't seem a sending off challenge but for the direct interpretation of the rule that Foy took.

I'd like to see refs take a more teleological approach to football laws. Think about the reason why the rule was invented rather than take a black and white approach much of the time.

He took "nothing of the man" simply because Nani saw him coming and jumped. If Nani hadn't jumped, he would have a 50/50 chance of keeping the ball at the risk of breaking his legs. How is that a brilliant challenge?

We were definitely pretty shit in the second half but we were good enough in the first that it didn't matter.

Regarding the sending off, I think if Nani hadn't jumped out the way of it, it could have done him some serious damage but, again, Kompany does win the ball and I think it's just one of those rules similar to the "tackle from behind" where it's generally on referee discretion.
Not a black and white call IMO.
