I love commentators who don't even hide the fact they don't like a team. this mug on 5Live has done nout but slander Chelsea. He says he asked around Stamford Bridge today and even people right down to the tea lady's aren't sure about AVB. The best bit was, he was being deadly serious.

Wow @ doicare's impression, never expected to see that from him ;)

I agree with him. Wow @ City. Coming back from 3-0 to 3-2 with TEN men for 80 FREAKIN MINUTES. Yes, harsh red for Kompany. Foy, the idiot, ruining ANOTHER big game.

FOY OUT.

Is anyone else astounded at how poor Nasri was. I know it's his 1st season at a new club but he went missing today for large parts of the game.

This isn't the first time he's done that this season either. He should be playing much better than he actually is.

Id take him at united

Any word from Ferguson ?

Pretty bloody crucial how he reacts.

Edit: Kompany went in with two raised feet. Foy didn't send him off for having his shirt untucked.

We made them look better than they actually were

edit: fergies words, agree with what he's saying.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson: "I think we made them better than we were. Probably 3-0 up we thought we were through, but we took our foot off the pedal. We lost possession, gave away a free-kick, and they score. They went into defensive formation, hoping we made mistakes. It was a careless performance, we should have been home and dry."

West Ham fans just been singing "This City is Yours, This City is Yours, Fuck off United, This City is Yours!".

Ghahahaha, nice one West Ham.

At the moment he has his spell of good/bad games, but he'll come good for them.

He's definitely been overshadowed by Silva and Toure in City's midfield. He'd be the main man in Uniteds midfield.

Even if he got to best form Nasri wouldn't solve all of Uniteds midfield problems. We still need someone who'll win the ball and distribute it quickly.

To me it sounded like he wanted to give his players a kick up the backside.

Definately what they need.

^Yeah, though can't think of many in the PL who wouldn't be overshadowed. He's got a chance now to stamp himself a place in the team, along with De jong.
btw, any idea how many games the players miss while at the African Cup of Nations?

Lindegaard did leave quite a space for Kolarov to hit. Still a quality strike, but he seemed almost a yard too far right.

I know, angles and that.

Well, we won 1-Nil. It wasn't beautiful. In fact, it was all grit. But I think Vucinic clearly showed his value today. He was our most dynamic player and he linked up well enough with Matri to create several chances. I don't think Conte will be entirely happy--we were defending more than we probably should have--but it's our first game back, I don't think a lot of our players had 90minutes in them, really, for the type of tactics we use.

He refused to give City any credit at all. He's usually more gracious in victory.

Yeah true, good shout. No doubt City are worrying him, not noisy neighbours by any stretch of the imagination.

Spurs fans, are you guys going for the Cup or will Harry play the reserves? Could be a real chance of glory there. But then at the possible expense of league position?

He does - but he's not wrong about everything. Broken record and all that but Mata has to play centrally. Look at what effect Silva has had on City - THAT'S what we need from Mata.
His observations on the game have been fairly spot on. It's the other garbage he's spouting that's getting on my wick.

James Mc Clean looks to be a decent player. He's not afraid to run at players and he has a decent shot.

Good signing by Sunderland

Im looking forward to watching the game when I'm home. God knows I'm not a biased fan, but I'm regretting telling everyone I spermed everywhere at half time haha. I didn't.

I work in a children's toy shop, good thing really.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBcv6t-qxKE - sending off

The last replay tells me that either Foy had a little think before making a decision or that Rooney influenced him. Also both Nani and Giggs' carried on going for the ball after the tackle was made.

Which is exactly what they should've done. Or are you advocating that all players wave imaginary cards after suspect challenges?

It didn't require Nani's legs to snap in two for it to be a challenge with potential to cause serious harm.

The letter of the law says when you go into a challenge with two feet up, you have to walk.

But this is one enormous example of why laws like that are ridiculous. What an absolutely brilliant challenge. He's taken the ball, taken nothing of the man. Expertly timed.. brilliant challenge.

Strange one because I honestly think to a certain extent Foy has made the right decision; at least as far as the technicalities of the law are concerned. And that might make it difficult for City to win any sort of appeal.

I can't get behind this idea that all 2 footed challenges are risky. ANY challenge is risky. I think if a 2 footer wins the ball and there is no contact with the player then it's a good tackle. Mick McCarthy, you can't tackle these days blah blah blah.

"6 - Zlatan Ibrahimovic has now scored in six consecutive Serie A games (seven goals in total, five from the penalty spot)." I wish we know how to dive as well as Milan. :P

And I hear Quag got injured :( is it true :( ? how bad is it :(
:(

Agree completely.

If he caught Nani it would have been horrible and an obvious red...but he didn't...the rulebook seems to suggest that shouldn't matter, which just seems so crazy.

I agree it didn't seem a sending off challenge but for the direct interpretation of the rule that Foy took.

I'd like to see refs take a more teleological approach to football laws. Think about the reason why the rule was invented rather than take a black and white approach much of the time.

Such a fantastic goal. Welbeck was really good today again, he's coming along so well, definitely has to be first choice for me, great potential.

Rooney's goal was also just awesome, what a cross and the header was immense.

He did a torres just after and missed a sitter, would've been 4 at half time

He took "nothing of the man" simply because Nani saw him coming and jumped. If Nani hadn't jumped, he would have a 50/50 chance of keeping the ball at the risk of breaking his legs. How is that a brilliant challenge?

We were definitely pretty shit in the second half but we were good enough in the first that it didn't matter.

Regarding the sending off, I think if Nani hadn't jumped out the way of it, it could have done him some serious damage but, again, Kompany does win the ball and I think it's just one of those rules similar to the "tackle from behind" where it's generally on referee discretion.
Not a black and white call IMO.

SAF had a go at the press too. He said that they(the press)had found their new Gascoigne and weren't going to leave him alone.

Does anyone think that SAF was trying to send a message to Rooney or is that just reading into it too much?
