Seeing Ron Paul right now makes me think of this:

No, he's not. He doesn't have an ideology. He'll do whatever he thinks will get him more power. In Massachusetts that was being a moderate. In this primary, it's being a lunatic right winger. In the general it will be probably a mix of those. When he's president, he'll sign whatever the Republican legislature gives him.
This is the part that worries me most. If Republicans control the house, senate, and presidency Romney won't go against his own party in congress. Even if they just keep the house and Romney wins the presidency I think he'd buck to pressure from the right on all major issues even if he is a moderate at heart.

It's nice to hear Ron Paul fired up. He and his campaign have to realize that they have no shot at the nomination. There's about a 20-25% chunk of the GOP electorate that agrees with his message, but the remaining 75-80% is with Romney, Santorum, Newt, etc. and he will never get them converted to his cause if he hasn't already.

His campaign is his message. He wants to spread it. The jumped from 2008 to 2012 proved he made a lot of progress. He'll stay in the race because he thinks there is still room to grow.

LOL I think Ron Paul and all his supporters know that they will never win but they're just trying to savor the moment while they can. Like Roy Batty at the end of Blade Runner trying to savor his remaining moments of life before he dies in front of Deckard.

It depends on how you interpret the Bible. I'd say it does to a large degree. But modern the GOP with its two big camps of bare-knuckles capitalists and hardcore Christians has created a new prosperity theology that has married atheist Ayn Rand objectivist ideology with Christianity somehow.
Supply-side-Jesus.gif

This probably contributed to me abandoning religion but it was mostly science.

Hardcore conservatives somehow have convinced themselves that government is like the anti-christ and if we have no government the poor are going to be magically helped out with the charity that people like Romney give them.............o wait........

and the current administration (and the previous administration) have been scaring the shit out of me since the PATRIOT Act.

Don't worry, with the NDA they will eventually repeal the Patriot Act because they don't need it and then act like they are doing us a favor.

Was watching Monday's Daily Show. Did Romney actually brag about the fact that Kennedy had to take out a mortgage in the senate race to beat him? lol. What a terribly insane thing to say.

Video

Also, the part where Stewart shows the hypocrisy of the other Republican candidates for the way they're going after Romney was pretty good.

Yes he did and the same people that brought us 8 years of bush and thought mccain palin was a good idea are now trying to give us a romney or santorum

Personally I'm waiting eagerly for GAF's reaction when Obama "reluctantly" signs SOPA/PIPA into law.

screw liberty and freedom, thats not what america is about

If the constitution and free markets and liberty and all that were so great and such an awesome foundation for America then why did the founding fathers and the country have slaves? Why did it take so long until women were allowed to vote? Some great liberty for everyone that was...

Guess what, it takes more than just the constitution to protect us. To strip out all government and long for the vision of the founding fathers is to spit in the face of every woman and every African American in America.

I'd offer a reaction, but I'm on a strict byte count in my federal, undisclosed jail cell. Can't post anything mor

Incidentally, Freerepublic is almost as much fun right now with Mittens, uh, surging(?) as it is when major gay rights victories happen. To wit:

This is an ANTI Romney website. Thankfully, Romney supporters get banned pretty quickly around here. In case you haven't read the owner's words:

Welcome to Free Republic, America's exclusive site for God, Family, Country, Life & Liberty conservatives!

ObamaCare = RomneyCare = CommieCare. NO Romney! NO WAY!!

We are going to bury Mitt for good down here in SC—we can't abide a slick Yankee liar and his lying RINO establishment Yankee backers round these parts.
Santorum is from up North too but he loves Jesus and was never for abortion, homosex or taking away our guns—so he is alright.

If Newt sacrifices himself to knock out Romney, Gov. Palin could then step into the breach.

You may want to read up on the drafts of the Declaration (all but the final one included a condemnation of slavery). The Founding Fathers' aim was to get the Constitution (and Declaration) passed. To do that, they had to go through the people. It was a process intended to give freedom to everyone, but that freedom wouldn't come fully instantly with the passage of the Constitution - the Constitution was the basis of freedom for their new nation and started the process of it.

A lot of these comments make me laugh and think about 4 years ago when everyone said that would be Ron Paul's peak because of his age/craziness/some other reason.

It's more a comment on your constant use of hyperbole, obviously this has deeply affe

So you think when someone says

Ron Paul and his supporters are scaring 80% of the population

that it is hyperbolic to respond with:

and the current administration (and the previous administration) have been scaring the shit out of me since the PATRIOT Act.

? Really? Are you sure you know what hyperbole means? I mean, you can disagree with my sentiment, but I think it's not exactly an uncommon view that the PATRIOT Act, and the whole additional "homeland security" infrastructure that has sprung up since 9/11 (the TSA for example) is disturbing.

Isn't it nice to support a fringe crank with no shot in hell at being elected? It means you'll never be disappointed!

Changing the subject rather than defend Obama if and when he signs SOPA into law? Yeah, that sounds about right.
