The rule is the rule. If it was 2 footed he has to be sent off I guess, as much as I disagree with it.

Either way, football is becoming a contact-less sport. And I believe that's why we have some real horror tackles which break legs, because players can't commit to challenges they don't really train for it and train to dodge them.

You're so full of shit it's a wonder if you can stand up straight. You don't give a rats ass about what's best for the league or the players, just what's best for your team.

This is amazing:

The small napkin reads: “In Barcelona, on the 14th of December of 2000 and in the presence of Josep Minguella and Horacio (Gaggioli), Carles Rexach, F.C.B technical secretary, it commits under his responsibility and despite some views against it to sign the player Lionel Messi, as long as we stick to the amounts agreed upon.”

“The family asked us for a paper to confirm the deal so they could be confident about his signing for Barcelona. I had nothing else to write on, so I used a napkin.” – Charles Rexach.

..and what a day that was.

Haha it was a Portuguese Cup game between Sporting and Nacional. Your comment however makes me sad for being the only Sporting fan here. Theres gotta be one in all those lurkers out there

You made me post for the first time after lurking around FootyGaf for more than one year. You are not alone, I´m also a Sporting fan.
Exciting game tonight, we didn´t play well but we were very unlucky. Losing Wolfswinkel in the first 10 min was an huge blow, we don´t have a decent alternative to him on the bench.
Bojinov has been disappointing, Rubio showed some promise on the start of the season but he never did much when he was called to play in recent matches.
Maybe Sebastian Ribas can be that alternative, we just have to wait and see.

It's looking like it is. Painfully intrigued to know why the contract talks exploded. I'm probably going to find it hard to come down on Ravel's side of the argument, but it would be good to know.
There have never been any offers.

There have been alot of rumours that he just doesn't turn up for training or turns up late, if that is true than it's pretty clear why he isn't being offered a contract.

It remains to be seen but if turning up for training at United isn't motivating him, and I am sure Fergie has given him all the support he needs...not much else you can do.

You have no idea how excited you've made me :D Welcome to Footy-GAF!

Hopefully Ribas turns out to be the striker we need. Ricky has been off form and has now gotten this injury and like you said, Bojinov and Rubio just aren't showing the same promise that they did during the off-season/early season

uggggggggggggggh just heard the WORST transfer rumour i have ever heard for any club ever. apparently we are going to sign . . . an inter player . . . whose contract is expiring . . . wait for iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttttttt . . . sulley fucking muntari

fml if gold tie is even considering this

He was on a list of Harry's players to watch out for in 2012. The kid just needs an arm around him.
TBH I think London would be completely the wrong place for Morrison to go to.

Theres too many distractions in London and Morrison doesn't need any more of those.

Thats if he goes of course, which is looking more likely now.

Welcome, will stick your name in the OP next to Sporting.

It's a bit bloody circular if the reason he was feckless is that he wasn't getting first team runs.

He should go to Arsenal. Wenger has lobbed foetuses onto the park before.

A player doesn't get to play first team football so he just doesn't turn up for training?

Exactly. Absurd as it sounds, I reckon that more or less describes his attitude. And it's why I'm not as gutted as I could be, and why I think any club that takes him on is going to struggle to turn him into an adult pro.

They can have him. He isn't the first wonderkid and he certainly won't be the last. Morrison sounds like an idiot by all accounts. You'd have to be to piss away a chance like this.

Part of that comes with the hubris and impatience of youth (grow the fuck up), but at some points you have to face facts. The kid is a bit thick.

I'm still going to hold judgement on Morrison until we hear something concrete from the club. The Telegraph is better than The Sun but they've been wrong about plenty in the past.

Lol I feel so bad for Nasri. But pretty funny regardless. Guess hell just have to drive home in his exotic car and cry in his million dollar home.

Utd will be better off in the end without Morrison. Dude is just trouble waiting to happen. Can't believe the attitude he has if he is demanding so much money that United have to back down. Where is he planning to go where he'll get the same money and footballing opportunities? Seems shortsighted to say the least.

It's possibly a bit glib, but this Cleverley vid just shows what it takes. It also shows how hard you have to work, I guess. Go on loan, learn from senior players, adapt your game.

I can't see Ravel - as he's come across - doing half of that.

Most disappointing thing about Ravel leaving for me is that if he made it I think he would have been a bit of a cult figure amongst the fans. They would have loved him. Him making it requires him behaving like a professional however and that doesn't seem to have happened.

But where will he go? What kind of ambition does a talented young footballer have if not playing for one of the world's top teams?

Sad situation.

I don't know. I don't care really.

Just saying, as a United fan...he has great talent but more than that it's always a special relationship between a player who emerges from the academy to play for the first team and the fans. Combined with his style of play and clearly rebellious character...I'm sure the fans would have taken to him...in fact they already have, so many are so desperate for him to be a success.

But yes you're right, if United aren't motivating him, it's difficult to see where he would flourish...but you never know, it could happen, a change of scenery, sudden first team football...anything, he could just take off somewhere else and fulfil his potential, just gutted if it's not gonna be for us.

Agreed, he needs a bigger City than Manchester but one outside of London. Like say, oh I dont know, Birmingham :)

Morrison to Newcastle? I guess he can't be worse than Obertan right now. :lol Still, I don't like dick heads at Newcastle (Ranger is enough), so he better grow the fuck up if he plans on getting anywhere, or even being liked by the fans.

On reflection, that Nasri video...it is in quite bad taste.

It's after the game...he's on his way home. I don't know, I'm thinking if he was walking down a street and got that kind of abuse I'd think it was pretty nasty.

Guess with it being soon after the match you can mix it up with what goes on inside the stadium...but really, that kinda stuff should end at the final whistle...

Still makes me laugh though...

I'm also reading that Johnson's tackle was much worse than Kompany's.

All eyes on the FA now.

EDIT: WTF!!! WTFFFFFFFFFFF!

XY1lm.gif

WHAT A LITTLE BASTARD.

Not necessarily worse but yes, should be a red, just like I thought Kompanies was, no question IMHO.

Nasri's a cunt. At least people are telling him to his face rather than behind his back.

They didn't say anything bad anyway. "Fucking Arsenal reject" was the worst it got.

Looks like Ricky fractured his hip somehow. That should heal quickly, right guys? He should definitely be back before the weekend, right?
:(

I'm a Sportinguista too man. You're a not alone my friend. I don't really watch the Portuguese league though. I feel it's too corrupt and predictable.
