Could Pardew mean no solid bid was offered but the ones mentioned were just "what if" scenarios for Man Utd?

I'm just making up excuses for Pardew's dementia, aren't I?

Anyway, Demba Ba scored in a friendly for Senegal. Man, he would have fucked QPR big time on Sunday if he stuck around. QPR's team selection has been battered with the exclusions of Barton, Taraabt and uh...Traore?

I still think we can smash them. Unlike the last game we had...

He's not run out for the reserves either. I'm more calm about him, really.

TBH I think Pogba has been hyped beyond belief. If Morrison stays then I reckon he'd be closer to breaking through to the first team than Pogba.

Pogba has the potential to be a very good midfielder but he's very raw and that showed in the game against Crystal Palace a while back.

With Uniteds midfield situation I thought Pogba would be given more chances but since he hasn't maybe SAF thinks he's not ready to play.

Strikers aside, that looks so weak on paper. There are question marks in goal, defence and central midfield. That said, I expect they'll give Bolton an absolute twatting.

Disregarding recent results, I think United are a team greater than the sum of its parts; a lot of average individuals that have this will to win together. It has to be said though that all the talk about City's spine being missing is legitimate because I think the players are more important than their manager in that case; our manager's better than our players. I wake up in cold sweats thinking of the post-Fergie era :(

If Newcastle are just positioning themselves to catch Ravel if he insists on jumping, then there still is that potential for him and his knobhead agent to swallow hard and accept that he's not bigtime yet.

Unlikely, perhaps. And he's wound up quite a few United fans.

Nice Assou-Ekotto article on FourFourTwo.

“Look, Darth Vader could come to Spurs. I don’t care. If he does his job well I am happy for Spurs.”

Love this guy.

Without question. I don't think any other side could have fielded some of the XIs United have this season and still notched 45 points from 20 games.

WTF!

Someone I follow on twitter who is quite credible:

"a certain Argentinian striker is training with the City first team ahead of Wigan"

Well David Platt (City 1st team coach) when asked if Tevez will feature for city again following the break down in talks with Milan said "stranger things have happened".

If its true he has trained today there will be pictures somewhere because photographers are allowed access and the public can stand at the fences too if they want.

Hoping they bring in some help, but with Henry back they will probably wait until summer.

They'll never get into the top 4 then. Henry, as good as his finish against Leeds was, looked fucking exhausted and was sweating like a pig after 3 minutes of barely moving. I doubt they'll be able to get more than 45 minutes out of him every game. He isn't going to be facing a young Leeds back four in a home cup game every week.

Does anyone here watch the MLS? Specifically Columbus Crew? We've just signed Robbie Rogers (Leeds, subject to a work permit), and I'd love any information about him.

Good points, but the way people perceive his return has nothing to do with reality.

I support the Crew, but don't follow the MLS that much.

I know I posted it last night so sorry to those who've already read it, but I wrote a little piece on the current status of Gerrard and Lampard if anyone's interested. Feel free to agree or disagree. I'm particularly interested to hear what a Chelsea fan thinks of it.

Got it retweeted on Twitter and it snowballed a bit, got a few followers, mentions and well over 100 views this morning.
I read it yesterday, it's a good piece and I agree with most of it.

I don't really think the way Lampard went to Chelsea effects his position there though...think it's just a case of him being beyond his very best and more than that not suiting the style AVB wants to employ.

What's your Twitter btw?

his name is written on the blog. It's easy to find, I'll start following you Arnie.
Great article btw.

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/13012012/58/premier-league-balotelli-visits-school-use-toilet.html

Italy striker Mario Balotelli added to his long list of madcap antics when he parked his Bentley outside a Manchester school and wandered in to find a toilet.

"Balotelli parked his Bentley outside then came in and was asking where the toilets were, then he went to the teacher's staff room," student Edward Gasson told the Manchester Evening News.

"After that he was just walking round campus like he owned the place and everyone was following him around. It was amazing to see him but it was a bit ridiculous for him to come here - you would never expect it to happen."

Fellow student Josh Keogh added: “When he was walking around all the City fans were cheering him.

“He just seemed proper chilled. It was really weird to see him at our college but pretty amazing.”

A spokesperson for the school confirmed that Balotelli wandered into the school: "Xaverian was delighted to receive a surprise visit from Mario, who chatted to some of the students at one of Manchester’s most successful colleges.

“We weren’t able to enrol him on any courses, but he is welcome back anytime.”

Cheers. @arnielfc

Fair point. I suppose I regard Lampard that way because of how I treat Gerrard. A lot of why I regard Gerrard, and Carragher, to the extent that I do is because they came through the Liverpool youth system. They're complete representatives of the club in that regard, and are indispensable.

Even Carragher, who's 33, I wouldn't want to see him playing or connected with any other club. Even when he's perhaps been usurped technically by others (as it's been suggested of Lampard). There's the general sentiment that he's always got a place here, proliferated by both the manager and the fans.

I don't see that unification at Chelsea, even if AVB reiterates his 'fantastic' relationship with the player. It's not about their relationship per se, it's about what Lampard can offer the club even when he's not playing 90 minutes as he'd like. And I don't want to harp on at AVB too much, I think Lampard's been as resistent to the transition as AVB has.

He is good and has the potential but mentally he does not make good decisions in the final third often. I don't think he will be an exact replacement for Gradel. Don't think he is that fast. I know Shoplifter is a Crew fan so you could maybe PM him to get more accurate information.

Raheem Sterling was training with the first team again. Would love to see him get a run out soon. Better than Downing!

Scott from rawk, a reliable "itk" says Liverpool are messing about with the Hoillett transfer. Commolli doing his "bid embarrassingly low first offer?"

Might be a statement of intent. If we can't get a RW for a decent price this months, we might as well give him a go.

He's going to need to be playing first team football soon, what with all the child support he'll be paying out.

Oh Viviano to Palermo is a done deal? Great fucking news, needed a class keeper for a while now, now someone give Tzorvas a big kick in the ass out of the club. Maxwell to PSG is also great news, now they hopefully won't keep banging on Balzarettis door.

Edit : Fuck yeah, official, until summer 2016

great deal for palermo. a worthy successor to sirigu, hopefully you guys don't lose him to inturd in the next couple of years.

Well Rinaudo says he should make a return to playing in a month. Hopefully we manage to stay in title contention while we wait for him to come back.

Football Manager 2012 is the first in the series which requires all players to use Valve's Steam software; this angered many thousands of fans of the series who encountered problems with the third party software.[7][8] The move to Steam requires the game to be activated online before being able to play. Sega has said that Football Manager has moved to Steam to combat piracy.

Sega states that, “Make no mistake, if a quarter of the people that usually pirate the game switch to purchasing Football Manager 2012, the sales of the game worldwide would more than double. We’ve taken this decision because we believe that the steps the consumer has to take are not excessive, and that as a one-time only measure with no tracking or reporting it is not too intrusive. Having worked with Steam for a few years now we also believe that their system is ever improving and gives Football Manager players a good service of free auto-updating, achievements and other great benefits without cost or hassle.”

Does this mean I can't buy the game, use the Steam and give the CD to my dad? And therefore, two people play the same game at once on seperate computers. I've only ever used Steam for FM09/10/11

Balotelli is a genuine eccentric, isn't he? Starting to enjoy these stories.

He seems to revel in his eccentricities. It's like "oh I haven't seen my face in the newspapers outside of football matches, must think of something new"

Scored 10 goals while coming off the bench for the majority of his appearances and had a pretty good minutes/goal ratio. What are you saying?

That he's not very good. And that being a consumate/top goal scorer in lower leagues does not guarantee you'll even be a competent one in the Premier League.

A 1 in 4 goal scoring ratio in a formation where you're often the sole striker is poor no matter how you spin it. And that's before you speak to the fact that Beckford provides little else in the course of play other than his supposed goal-scoring ability.

1 in 4 is a shitty return if you are starting every one of those games. 18 of his 32 appearances in Premier league games were coming off the bench.

He scored a goal every 167 minutes he played, which was 14th in the league. That was in his first year at that level too, it took him a while to score his first goal, and after that he picked it up and played quite well.

He is not very good, but he's seen as talented so he keeps getting opportunities over better players, even though he hasn't improved much in the last three years (he's 24 now). He's a fairly fast and athletic winger who works hard but has pretty much no understanding of the game. Now all of a sudden he is in the US national team picture because Klinsmann likes him (they played together in 2005 with Orange County Blue Star), which is rather frustrating. He recently scored a goal, Agudelo and Shea did all the work though. Hopefully Leeds can get him to lift his head up and look around once in a while...

Castrol had him 128th in MLS last year, which is not terrible, but not exactly impressive either

I'll jump on this for you, as a Blue. The bad out the way first; I'm not sure I buy your Toy Story analogy, or the severity of it. Lampard has been a great servant to the club - and hasn't been injured for any great length of time - unlike Gerrard. There's never been a time when the side has missed the presence of Lampard - again, unlike Gerrard.

No disrespect to the Liverpool side - but Gerrard walks into it. Henderson? Adam? Spearing? As good (see: decent) as they are - Gerrard displaces all of them. The same isn't true of our side - Ramires is a nailed on starter, Romeu has been an important asset to the team - which leaves one position open for Lampard, Miereles, Mata (if AVB only listened to me), Malouda and Mikel to compete for.

Can you honestly tell me that if Liverpool were sitting in the top 4, playing well (not that we are) - with the midfield performing well (not that ours are) that Gerrard walks back into the side? I'm not doubting his qualities, or his influence in particular - but let's be realistic - football is a results business and Lampard, and the side, aren't playing well. No footballer should be guaranteed a place in the side because he was "signed at the age of 8 as a fan" - the simple question comes down to whether or not the player warrants a place in the side; that should be the crux of your argument. There's nothing romantic about it.
