We should be able to make 3 teams. Team "Almost has a Shot", Team "Sort of Competent Players" and Team "Showed up"

Group me under "Sort of Competent Players" then.

Also, apparently according to Silencer's lines (I have yet to hear it though), apparently he has a crush on Death Prophet.

So, any interest from you any of you to try and get a few GAF Teams into Dota2Replays Brawl Tournament? 4 weeks of Small Open Qualifier Tournaments, then 2 weeks for the finals. Stuff is a bit of a mess, but here are the relevant

Could be fun, we could likely scrape 2 or 3 teams of 6-8 together.

I'd be down for this, could be fun.

I still say we do a gaf in house tournament one of these days.

So, what does everyone think of the new items? Rod of Atos seems like it has good potental, but I'm not sure of who best to put it on. It gives HP, it gives Int, but where does that go well. Tide Hunter? Zeus? An item for supports to grab?

Ring of Aquila: Good item that helps keep Basilius relevant until late game. I'd pick it up on Razor, Drow, Weaver, etc.
Rod of Atos: Good item for (semi) carry INT heroes who are squishy and have no CC. I'd pick it up on Silencer, Death Prophet, Necrolyte, etc.
Heaven's Halberd: Situational anti carry item. I can't see it getting much play outside of a few situations (re: the other team has a fed AM/Void). I guess Dragon Knight, Slardar, etc would make decent use of that item, but I'd still rather go BKB on those heroes.

(I haven't played with the other two items yet so I'm doing theorycrafting at this point)

Tranquil Boots: Great, cheap, item for roaming heroes who don't need Mana Boots. Perfect fit on Crystal Maiden and Vengeful Spirit. Would be pretty good on Lion and Lich (although you might still want Face Boots for those heroes)
Abyssal Blade: Uhhhh....I guess if you have nothing else to buy at 80 minutes, it is a decent item. Hopefully the game doesn't last that long, though.

Oh man I was cranky last night.

Thanks for the tip with Last Word. For some reason... I remembered gaining permanent INT for Silencer off kills *only* and not off silenced heroes. Does curse work if the enemy hero has NO mana remaining, too?

Silencer FEELS good. Someone else said it in the thread... his animation is great for last hitting. I tried a support build with him later in the night and I wasn't too happy. That's from a personal opinion though... I need to play it more with a better team to see how it rocks. My choice to go support with the team I was running with was a poor one.

SB was an ooolllddd favorite and I still haven't been (cough) quick enough to manage a pick on him.

Minimap is SLICK. Love subtle changes.

The whole point of it is to drain them so they can't cast any more spells so yes, it will.

It use to only work on silencer kills, now it'll steal int on heroes that die around you, with a better gain if you get the last blow.

I gotta say Archie, I'm loving your avatar.

There seems to be a bit of wording problems going around. Silencer only steals INT when the enemy is under the effect of Last Word right?

afaik it's as long as their in the Last Word aura AoE range, they don't have to be silenced or anything

edit: from playdota.com on Last Word (dota 1)
Notes

• Channeling skills will activate this even if they are canceled.
• Silencer will permanently steal 1 Intelligence from any enemy hero that dies within 750 range.
• If Silencer is the killer, he will steal 2 Intelligence instead.
• The -stats (-st) command can be used to know how much Intelligence you gained through this skill.

Great so I'm not going crazy!

Edit: answered above.

Yea I too thought it was as long as they were in range. Someone kept telling me they had to be actively silenced by it last night :(

I FINALLY did decent with DK.

As soon as Pudge called out my Satanic though, I was pinned down 5v1 for all my deaths.

Game was hilarious. He farmed two Battlefurys which he then used to farm SIX Divine Rapiers, in ~50 minutes. And when he finally died the game let him keep one, out of "respect". :D

It should be an official item stat for rapier, that you get to keep one upon death if you have six, just so you get an influx of douchebags trying to farm six divine rapiers every other game.

Rumors that Wehsing is leaving Mouz are... false.

Roll on, Battle Shaman! *phew*

Last night's in house just trying to get a game made me want to punch everyone of you guys face after thirty minutes of failed game launches.
Holy shit yes. Joining games you consistently fail to load is sooo bad-mannered >:|

Yeah, its Twista that's leaving. I think this is a good move, he was the worst of them. Plus he always had his kid crying in the background in Sing's stream.

Q: WHAT'S A CARRY?
A: Welcome to the big bosses of Dota 2. These are the "stars" of your team. Generally, they are fairly weak early game in comparison to other roles. However, with an appropriate amount of items, the carry can stand toe-to-toe with other heroes and kill them with raw auto-attack damage. Often times the carry has a spell or two that scales with gear, making them more powerful as the game goes on. This is contrasted by heroes who are strong early, such as supports and gankers. If you're NOT a carry, you will be doing everything in your power to help your carry, whether it's by protecting them (supports), killing the enemy (gankers), holding the enemy in place (initiators), or getting early gold through towers (pushers). There are several types of carries in the game:

  • AOE CARRIES carry the game through sheer aoe damage and spells
[*]PUSHER CARRIES carry the game through their ability to tear buildings apart in seconds
[*]TANKER CARRIES carry the game by soaking up an enormous amount of damage while dealing it back
[*]PURE CARRIES carry the game by unmatched right-click autoattack damage
[*]GANKER CARRIES have the ability to greatly assist in killing other heroes and get a lot of their gold from doing so before transitioning into autoattack carries. They do not scale as well as pure carries
Some of these heroes belong in more than one category; however, they are listed under their main asset.

GENERAL CARRY ADVICE

  • You need gold, and lots of it! Pures should concentrate solely on farming, pushers should farm until their core items are up, gankers should split time between killing and farming, tanks and aoes should join in kills and teamfights when possible.
  • Farm safely! Try to farm in lanes that are closest to your towers and mainbase; this will reduce the chances of the opposing enemies coming in and slaughtering you. Take care to look at your minimap for missing enemy heroes, and back off if you don't feel safe.
  • In teamfights, you want to focus down enemy supports, NOT enemy carries. Leave the carries for last -- they often can't do much without the support's disables.
  • Pick sniper. He's fucking awesome.
  • Generally, ganker carries want to end in midgame before pure carries take the lead late

Hopefully Valve puts out a follow up patch tonight to fix some bugs. There is a decent list of them. Two biggest is Flying Courier only has 45 HP, and Orchid is just wrong.

My friend had BKB not build for him for some reason. I double checked to make sure he actually had all the ingredients and everything. Then it suddenly built.....when he dove in the OTHER TEAM'S FOUNTAIN.

what tournament is this now?

Dota2Replays Brawl, a minor Tournament mentioned on the Dota 2 Blog that has open sign ups. The sign up for Qualifier 1 has ended, but the one for Qualifier 2 opens in 4 or 5 days. The pre-qualifiers are on Saturday, the main Qualifers are on Sunday, for them its single elemination. 2 games on Saturday, and if we get though, upto 4 games on Sunday if we magically get though the entire thing.

Here, lets do this. Copy the list into your post, and add your name if you want to participate. We can group us up into 2 or 3 teams once we get a decent list going.
