I just want to see an improved nerubian assassin (whatever they rename him to) personally, but I imagine as one of the least popular heroes, he'll be one of the last to come over. Treant would be cool too.

The prolonging was really uncalled for and if I had known that you guys were salty from the previous game I wouldn't have involved myself in that while intoxicated. Swag also wasn't in the mood at 4am and neither of us had anything to do with that. I hope you're not actually bragging about that game.

That's what we did. Levelled up enough to blink in as Earthshaker and cause some utter mayhem.

Loved some of our other team members QQ-ing at the start then realise how easy it was for us to demolish the other side.

Yeah that was hilarious, also at first I thought the way we had to do it was :

Dark seer vacuuming and then me throwing my ultra as lich trying to catch the people who were close to each other before the scattered of. This because I thought that Dark Seer vacuuming the enemy team would somehow make my ulti disappear.

The one time I accidentally tossed out my ulti before dark seer doing his thing resulted in the ulti-ball ricocheting between the enemy team while they were all literally standing into each other thanks due to DS vacuum and killing them instantly.

Who are you talking to? salty from previous game? I picked Pudge lol, that's not my go to hero and my comment "some nice plays today" was for all the in-house's games that were played that day but especially the WoDota Skeleton King play (Armlet switching on and off at literally no HP) and my Pudge Hook on Spiritbreaker, I can only imagine him saying cya cya cya to the two heroes that tried to gank him and he charges away to another hero, I intercept at mid lane and hook him back and ulti, GG. Also that Leshrac moment was pretty pimpin, where he killed like 3 of us because we were all dumb enough trying to attack but could not as he had Ghost Scepter activated and died from his mass AOE damage. These moments I would have liked to Youtubed.

What do you call a Pillow AM?

A soft carry

:lol

What do you call a Conceptor Earthshaker?

The 6th man for the other team

:lol

Setup streams send them to archives and collect them later?

There is some trick out there regarding recording a demo that saves every single frame. I remember seeing a guide on PlayDota forums somewhere. That or you can just use FRAPS. With both though, it does kind of suck that you don't have the interactive aspect where you can shift the camera to show relevant things, etc.

Looks like a few new skins have been discovered

Speaking of which: Do you guys think skins and hats should be disabled in competitive games? Valve wants Dota 2 to be spectator friendly and having Axe wear a suit of plate armor during a tourney match (lol as if anyone would ever pick Axe) could create visual confusion.

Oh god that venge skin is horrific. I hope they dont change her look again and make her even worse looking.

I just hope whatever customization options valve is going to add in the future to the models and what not are 100% optional to display.

The TF2 hats actually had an impact on the performance of the game. I hope it isn't the same with this game.

They carry stats? I thought there were merely visual items. Or are you talking about a reverse Odd-Job scenario where perhaps a top hat makes a players hitbox larger or something.

:o warlock's supposed to be easy to play? I wanted to play him but thought maybe he was among the more "difficult" ones.

I hope they don't just do reskins. I want actual, new models if they're going to do this. Tidehunter looks awkward.

I don't give a shit if skins are mandatory or not because I'll never be turning them off. I am not bothered by this sort of thing. It is, to be completely honest, not a huge deal anyway. People aren't stupid. They'll pick up pretty quickly that "big black and white guy is still Tidehunter" or whatever.

Tide's skin is actually the first reskin I've seen. Everything else points towards a TF2 model where you buy individual pieces of armor/hoods/etc.

Uhhh maybe if you are running tf2 with a 10 year old PC. Hats don't effect performance.

Sorry, but you're wrong. They, and the hundreds of alternate weapons, undeniably affect performance. Much more on the CPU end than the GPU end, obviously.

Won't be nearly as much a problem in Dota, as there are only ten people max in each game, as opposed to upwards of 32, each with their own wide assortment of wacky accessories.

Each person has a weapon and / or hat and each has a maximum number of polygons. The game is 5 years old, I don't think the minimal number of polygons they've added have outpaced the PC hardware most people have upgraded to in 5 years

Did not have any problems with a CPU and GPU from 2008 and 2009 respectively, so unless you computer is 5 years old (when vanilla TF2 came out) then you really shouldn't have a frame rate problem. Also 32 player servers are already a mixed bag because most maps are designed for 24 players.

OH REALLY I WONDER WHY I DIDN'T THINK OF THAT

Am I being a bit simple but the Vengeful skin doesn't look like it's loaded in. The chequered pink and black squares, am I missing something?

I'm certain the hats etc brought in sparkle effects which had an impact on games.

Edit: Also the lack of level of details on the items had affected the game.

Alternate Skins don't create visual confusion in HoN, doubt they will in DoTA, what are the chances that people will actually confuse that Storm Spirit model for not being Storm Spirit, the changes aren't even that drastic, simply new textures.

If they put in new models, they have to do completely new voice work to match the new hero look, hope they don't get lazy.

Depends on how drastic the change is, but yes, if it's something really huge, I would agree. My main point is, changing the texture is boring and often ugly, like in the case of Tide. I like the idea of a killer whale model for Tide, but they need to make it work right. I dunno. U:

I kind of wish they would take a TF2 approach to the skins, where they limit it to accessories, but you can still recognize the characters all the time and be able to play. While seeing something like Shamu Tidehunter and recognizing it as such would be no problem for me, I can see how it would be confusing for some people.

Not to sure how I feel about total skin changes, unless Valve does it only for characters who simply don't really have clothing (Like Tide Hunter)

Male Windrunner? Female Witch Doctor?

Very possible to do gender swaps for heroes that have very distinct gender features, and still make them fit into the universe of the game. Although I'm not sure how closely Valve wants to follow the lore that they've established, as a lot of the heroes seem to be unique in their status.
