I tried the ios one just recently and hated it( this was to shut up a friend who was telling me i shouldn't buy a Vita for Lumines because i can just play it on my phone), that was kinda just an aside to what ubisoft has said about putting their handheld stuff on ios to make more money.

Well, I fully expect Lumines Vita to be on another platform. It doesn't even have the "Only on PlayStation" tag. It doesn't really seem like it is all that Vita feature extensive either, which would follow with Ubisoft's mantra of easy ports.

The launch lineup pretty much the same as the PSP.

Lumines --- Lumines Electronic Symphony
Wipeout --- Wipeout 2048
Hot Shot Golf : Open Tee --- Hot Shot Golf : World Invitation
Ridge Racer --- Ridge Racer
Darkstalkers --- Marvel vs Capcom
Dynasty Warriors --- Dynasty Warriors Next
Ape Escape --- Escape Plan (ok i know i am stretching this)
Some random sports games --- Some random sports games
Some random racing games --- Some random racing games

The only difference is Uncharted. Which probably replaces Metal Gear Acid in terms of brand recognition.
I think PSP had the best launch line-up of its time, but now Vita improved it.

You forgot the new IPs that take advantage of the new console features like:

- Gravity Daze
- Sound Shapes
- Escape Plan
- Reality Fighters
- Little Deviants
- Army Corps of Hell
- Unit 13

And well, new titles of stablished IPs like Super StarDust Delta, Touch My Katamari, Shinobido 2 or ModNation Racers: Road Trip and ports of popular IPs like Rayman Origins, Plants vs. Zombies, Virtua Tennis 4, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, Blazblue: Continuum Shift EXTEND or Hustle Kings.

Has anyone got any videos/screens of what PSP games look like on Vita, I fancy picking up some games i missed first time round when it launches (assuming they are in the store)

Makes heavy use of the back-touch screen, but not like that couldnt be swapped to a button on another device. It also allows you to play the game using nothing but the touchscreen (no thanks).

So, I guess Wipeout is officially $40. Walmart, BB, and GS are charging $40. I'm keeping my $30 Amazon preorder...Thank god for their pre-order price guarantee.

i seriously doubt it is officially 40 bucks. this was in an email from sony a day ago:

Nope. It can barely play any; it currently only supports the PS3 games that already had Remote Play functionality, which is not many.
Oh =[ That's very disappointing. I was looking forward to playing PS3 while my friends used the TV to play Halo.

What the hell, is that guy on a boat? That clicking/rocking noise is annoying as hell.

If people with CFW was able to run any game with remote play, probably we'll get that functionality in the official firmware soon. Sony really want to sell the Remote Play as a Vita feature, and if some small changes can make this universal for all titles, they will do it.

I want a 3G Vita because I keep thinking “What if they only release certain games for the 3G version?” and it’d piss me off if I weren’t able to play something I wanted. I do regret importing a Vita but at least I have a backup I can take to work and not give a shit about if it gets broken.

I'm double downing on certain games because I like them and want them in English as I don’t know any Japanese.

Realize this is a lot of money but I’ve already resolved to make the Vita my primary console this year, so fuck it.

I filed my tax return this afternoon and I think I'm going to be temped to jump on board for launch next month.

Is there any word on PSX playback yet?

@ Gamestop today, my Vita is paid off there and I asked about memory thinking to pay some of that off until he said the price was $25 and $35 for 4/8gb?

What the ff Gamestop? Saying it was $30 down to $25 for 4GB?!?!?!?

I'd like to know this too :3

Still on the fence about it, but here's what I'm considering:
Wifi Model
16 GB mem card
Cradle
Lumines
Rayman Origins
If I have enough money:
Dynasty Warriors Next
Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Is Sigma Plus a launch title?

there will be a NA/EU marketing effort, right? rite???

GameStop is ripping off their customers, some of their prices on games are $10 more than what you could get from Amazon.
Hopefully no one buys those games from them.

Regarding the PS1 games, they don't work yet on the Vita but Sony is working on an update to fix that in the near future.(I hope)

This upsets me, guess I'm buying from Amazon and waiting to play w/ my Vita...Think I'm going to go bug YoshP on twitter about PSX playback.

...and I thought I spent too much on games! Not 'judging' or anything like that; just glad I'm not as 'extreme' as I could be :) Sounds like you'll have a Vita-blast in 2012!

A couple of questions for Japanese Vita owners (such as yourself):

1 - Near: does it work like 3DS' StreetPass, in terms of being able to put the Vita in sleep mode, taking it out and about, coming back home and checking received gits? Otherwise, does the Vita have to be on and with Near running to receive gifts?

2 - Are there any benefits to PS+ members? Wondering if Vita has cloud-saving and game / firmware auto-updates.

3 - Are there Themes available? No, right; just custom backgrounds, no further customizing?

Thanks to those that answer; Vita 'hypage' level increasing every day!

Now really... is the same level of AA applied in-game? I've heard some people saying that the game is jaggy, others saying that there's a nice amount of AA... I need the truth!

It does do a small AA pass when saving photos, but in-game? I think it looks amazing. There is some aliasing on certain things - sometimes the engine wash can look a little less than smooth, but that's rare. In motion? Imagine playing Pulse HD given a buff of the Fury treatment. Their visual construction is effortlessly similar and super slick.

In regards to filters in photo mode, you can toggle focal points, blur, depth of field, you can pan, rotate, zoom etc. I didn't toy much in HD's mode, so I cannot compare from memory.

But it's very intuitive, especially with the touchscreen.

The graphical showcase of the system, though - as expected. Doesn't skip a beat, either.

How are the load times? Same as the demo?

That's my launch lineup on order from Amazon. I'm sure I'll be unable to resist the new shinies at BB at launch, too, so I expect to add another game or two to the list. Extremely stoked right now!

Same shit at EB Games still in Canada, cause it's all Gamestop now, if they charge more than normal, I'll simply get them on Amazon, I can wait the 1 day amazon.ca orders take to get to me.

Pretty lengthy, yeah. Restarts take no more than five seconds, though. The load times are the only downside, other than - due to timeline - no EG-X.

EG-X is an anti gravity racing team based on China and Finland but headquarters are in Finland. Formed in 2172 when F9000 League superpowers Xios and EG-R merged, EG-X was something of an unknown quantity going into the inaugural season of the FX350 League.

I posted this before it is real he just using a CFW ps3, in his other video he actually back out and goes to the vita home screen

It seems that is only a matter of change a ini file in the game, to allow it. The current firmware (even FW 3.55) allow it, but the games deactivate the functionality in this ini file.

My impression is that with PSP was not possible to imitate all the functionalities (L2, R2, L3, R3, second analog, sixaxis), even with key combination. So the default status for Remote Play in the app submition was false (except for a few devs who cared and modify the control scheme when using PSP, like Pixeljunk Shooter, and some other that wrongly changed the value, like Lair).

If they modify remote play app to read full Vita control (and it seems that they already done it, if they can play RDR or Battlefield 3), they can change the default status for Remote Play in app submition with Vita to true, making all the new games playable with Vita. Or even make Remote Play to ignore that value when it's used with Vita instead of PSP, making all games, even the old ones, compatible with Remote Play Vita. It should be easy.

it's too bad about ridge racer being limited to so few cars and tracks. i was watching some videos of it on youtube and it looks pretty badass. if it was 20 i would pick it up at launch. i can't bring myself to pay full price knowing they are just going to milk me for dlc later.

This may have been covered in page 30 or something, but does Gravity Rush have a concrete release date? Thought it was supposed to be a launch title, but the lack of pricing and retailer listing has me concerned. Amazon lists it for May 29th.

i'm not sure about gravity rush. last thing i heard about it was "launch window" with no concrete date.

edit: sorry thought that said march 29 instead of may 29. i can't see them waiting until may but who knows. i'm still curious about sumioni also.

They stated launch window (with a ps blog comment stating that to be the first month of vita's launch).

I'm surprised no one is talking about Escape Plan. That's suppose to be available on PSN at launch. It seems like a title that is using the back touch pad in a good way.

I'm keeping an eye on Escape Plan, plus other PSP games for launch. Gravity Rush and SoundShapes are on my must-buy list too, whenever they are ready. FIFA and Wipeout under consideration.
