NFL Super Bowl XLVI |OT| Matchup More Unwanted Than Madonna's Halftime Show

I love the nonsense about Smith being let down by his receivers. Give me a break. He spiked 8 yard outs into the turf all night long. Guy is fucking garbage and when forced to win a game against an actual defense he simply was not up to the task.

This needs to be in the OP. Ain't no salt like that left coast salt

His forward progress wasn't stopped, sorry. You don't blow a whistle just as soon as someone takes a hit, it's ridiculous and I've already proven why it's ridiculous. It was a bad call, it cost the Niners the game the defense earned.

Also classic, the new NFL OT rules change nothing as well is the team that won the toss won the game with a field goal, even after all that convoluted new rules bullshit. Bravo, what a difference that made - instead of fucking the team on the first possession, it just happens on the second or third anyway lol.

I'm done with my ranting and keeping up with football with the year, thankfully I don't have to watch this sham Super Bowl, and I'll avoid it like the plague. But hey, as long as the NFL media moguls got the game they wanted at all costs, it's all good. At least I don't have to watch that shit. Good night everybody!

I'd say the 49ers win the Worst Loser in the Playoffs award. Coach refuses to talk to the media and fans cry about a standard forward progress whistle. Top it off with the pieces of human garbage booing during the anthem and I take back every good word I ever said about the SF fan base.

Worst in the league.

Flacco was fucking terrible. There were a million of check downs he could have thrown to but chose not to for some reason cause he wasn't seeing them. He's fucking blind.

He choked. All there is to it.

Some thoughts on the games last night.

The AFC as a conference should officially be disbanded. If two washed up teams comprised of villains, criminals, wannabe porn stars, and demon spawn is the best we have then something has gone horribly wrong. I was still holding out hope for a meteor or tsunami to swallow up both teams right until the moment the Ravens got Cundiffed, hard. The Pats as usual ruin everything and what should have been the best moment of my season, the Ravens choking away a trip to the Superbowl, was ruined by the knowledge that that loss sent the Pats to Indy. Fuck me. :(

The NFC game on the other hand was a joy to watch. Alex Smith definitely did not come through, but he didn't lose the game either. Eli is fucking amazing and the way he carried that Giants offense was downright Roethlisbergian. He was getting his ass kicked all night and kept making plays. Speaking of which, big props to the Niners defense. They played their hearts out and deserved to win, but there are 3 phases to the game and it is tough to win by just being awesome at one of them.

As to the rematch. Eli the hopes of the free world rest in your innocent, virgin hands. You are clearly the cream of the crop of the NFL's young qbs taking the title from Rodgers (who obviously hates that shitty state of GB seeing as how he can't win shit there when it counts) and Big Ben. The game has already been ruined just by having the Patriots there, but Eli you can save this league and our souls if you can slay the beast. Hopefully Pornkowski's ankle has to be amputed (practice safe sex kids) and Brady is a sitting duck for the Giants pass rushers. I have a very bad feeling about this game though. And if the Pats win I am sure that Obama will lose and we will get some Republican stooge for President who will proceed to invade Canada in 2013 as his first act of President. Don't let us down Eli!

Love him or hate him, you have to at least appreciate the faces he makes.

They booed the national anthem? I watched it though I wasn't paying full attention to it. I thought they couldn't just sit quiet cause they were so hyped.

Yeah he totally dropped the go ahead TD and then what's imho even worse missed the FG.

I mean seriously? Dude get's paid a ton for catching the ball and kicking it and then fails on both occasions?

What a choker. Lol Failco. They should trade him for Sanchize.

They booed the Giants players on the big screen. And even they laughed it off.

Williams screwing up last night is sweet karma for FMT laughing at the Texans and Jacoby Jones. Williams outdid Jacoby which frankly is a damn feat in itself.

gg

I'm not excusing Alex for the downright terrible passes he threw last night, but the 49ers WRs aren't that great.

And yes, I'm also pissed at the way some of the fans acted. Can't wait until the new stadium is opened up and the higher prices drives some of these losers away. Really miss the 49ers fans of the 80s and 90s.

All that coal dust has destroyed your brain
I thought it was nicer to say that he hated home field advantage because he had to play in GB in January instead of saying he was a huge choker who couldn't handle being the favorite and a little adversity.

Sure ignore the numerous checkdowns that he missed/throws he didn't/couldn't make and focus on the so called "dropped" touchdown.

He was fucking terrible, trading for Sanchize would just be a lateral move though. Both are dogshit chokers.

They were laughing that a place so scummy and classless exists.

The receivers aren't great, but they also aren't given the opportunity to be great. Part of that is coaching (smart coaching mind you). That defense is a joy to behold, just amazing to watch, and the team wins with it. They want Smith to throw safe throws to open receivers and to put the ball where only his guys can get it. That means throwing low, not throwing a lot of balls 10+ yards over the middle and not throwing into safety over coverage. Part of that is just Smith. He isn't good enough to make a lot of those throws. He can't throw a receiver open, he has poor feel for mid-depth crossing routes and we all saw what he does with 10 yard outs.

are...you even aware that Green Bay isn't actually a state, bionic?

green bay's not a state!

Ugh... can't root for the hated Pats or a f'n division rival. But I'll still go with the Giants to win.

You are an Eagles fan right? WTF BRO? Root for the Giants? Pats are not a fun option yes but cmon we must unit in with our hate for the Giants.

Excuse my australianism but why does no one want this match up?
In an odd way, it's the best an Indianapolis fan could have hoped for.

Why Good to Have Giants? Get to root for a Manning!

Why Good to Have Pats? As much as is made of the Colts-Pats rivalry, at the end of the day, it was based on mutual success and playing big games against each other. I would MUCH rather have the Pats fans than having a bunch of Baltimore people coming to Indy, bitching about how we stole the Colts.

Best of all? Ravens-49ers would have been LSU-Alabama all over again. Two defensive minded teams playing boring defensive football and they already played each other earlier in the year. I think there is much more opportunity for a shoot out (and more interesting game) given a Pats-Giants matchup.

PS. I clearly want the Giants.

Ooops meant Wisconsin (which is also not a state). I always get confused with geography when I am not dealing with real America.

I am going to blame my retardation on the twins though and not the coal dust.

I couldn't even post during the games on Sunday! Not going to a single NBA game this year (forget finding the time to watch more than two football games a week). Fatherhood is ruining me...

that makes no sense, i would never ever root for the eagles against any AFC team, same goes for cowgirls and redskins
Hell no, I'm not rooting for them at all! I'm not rooting for anyone! I'm already sick of all the closet Giants fans coming out, and it's only gonna get worse in a few weeks. I just think they're gonna win.

You are what is wrong with football.

So i was at chipotle yesterday and I saw this deal they where they were offering 1/2 price for 6 or more burritos during super bowl sunday

That's 6 burritos for 18 bucks! can't beat that!

fuck the pats

Eli beat those cheaters!

Giants.
Cheatriots winning another Super Bowl would just be wrong.

Fuck you Brady. Lets go giants.

Ugh, I had forgotten madonna was singing at the half time show. They need better acts.

No one outside of NE (and for some strange inexplicable reason some socal gaffers) want the Pats to win.

SO MANY DELICIOUS TEARS JUST ON THE FRONT PAGE

Thread title couldn't be any more accurate...lol

And poor Eli took quite a beating last night from the 49ers.

But seeing as I don't want the Patriots to win yet another SB, I guess I'll have to root for the Giants (begrudgingly).

Can't wait to have the offseason thread up and running.

Will Ocho be the washed up wide receiver that will save your moribund franchise this off-season? Or do you think they'll sign TO? Which FA wide out will be the next miserable failure for your miserable failure of an organization?

I want michael Floyd. I know kiper said he would fall to the bears but I think they'll have to trade up to get him. WRs are too important and he's too good not to be taken early. Bears have no shot at blackmon.

Fuck notre dame.

As a Cowboys fan who feels horrible for letting the Giants into the playoffs by missing 2 game winning kicks and losing to them I say GO PATRIOTS.

Eli did it! I recorded the game but the stupid DVR stopped at the end of the 3rd quarter. Now Eli gets to beat down Brady again, I can't wait!

Also when are the dumb Raiders going to hire a coach? It feels like Al Davis never left us.

When the next coordinator either gets word he only has 2 years to live or gets out of rehab.

The Bucs are even worse. They knew well in advance of the end of the season that they were going to fire Raheem and they still haven't gotten a coach. Just got turned down by Chip Kelly in Parcellsesque fashion, and this time there is no Gruden to trade for in desperation. The worst part is that all of the best coordinators are gone by now. Now any coach that gets hired will spend the next 2 offseasons after this one replacing assistant coaches as he fine tunes the coaching staff. What should be done this offseason and next is going to stretch out to 3 offseasons of constantly changing coaches and their philosophies on the players.

Oh and btw Eagles fans: Spags apparently was interested but in the end took the job with the Saints simply because they have a tremendous offense so it will be far easier to make himself look better when he rescues that D.

Don't blame him one bit. Plus he won't have to deal with Reid or having to run the DLINE coach's scheme.

Juan is still DC. Reid went on a vacation, came back, and still no word about what they are going to do. Reid is also not going to the Senior Bowl because umm well no one knows. Maybe he doesn't want to miss the SB coverage. Only the lawyer, our GM, is going to go scout. Hooray!

Should have hired Spags. He would have jumped at the chance to be HC again rather than DC.

Marty Morenighwejbfghgkgh is also available though it isn't looking good if both the Raiders and Colts didn't hire him.

Could also wait till the SB is over to interview Perry Fewel from the Giants.

Reggie McKenzie was just hired what, a week and a half ago? The guy is looking to do a complete and total gutting of the organization. You're looking at at least two years of total rebuild in that entire organization. It's going to be a little tough to find the right guy to come into that situation. I think Mike Sherman would be a great fit.

When are the Raiders not rebuilding? And not because they dont have talent, they just constantly get rid of all of their talent so they can continue their perpetual rebuilding cycle.

The Raiders have 40 years of abject shit built up in that organization. On the field I think they are close, but McKenzie's job is to gut and rebuild the organization itself, not the team on the field.

Harbaugh was crying all game long. It was painful to watch.

Welp I almost vomited in rage this morning.

Come into work and get around the cooler to discuss last night's game. I get this nice gem said and I quote:

The Giants game was actually super boring. It was pure defence which isn't exciting to watch.

I now know who not to discuss football with any longer here.
