LJ11 always has informative posts as well. And never gets into pissing matches. I admire the fuck out of both of them!

What I like about him is that he's all about football most of the time. You'll have a discussion that's completely off-topic, and somewhere in between, there's a very informative post by LJ11.

I also love his avatar, because it looks exactly what I think being a Bills fan must be like :jnc

You're in Florida? Is anyone a fan of team they live closest too?

Shit, just realized this applies to me too.

I'm in North Dakota of all places right now. Usually in Wyoming. Denver is not too far away, still make it down there from time to time and a good portion of my family still lives there.

Seen some Broncos fans here, mainly Vikings/Packers fans around these parts.

I've been fascinated with a long time with how Europeans develop and follow American sports. Do y'all find it easy to watch games? What news outlets do you read - American-based sources or attempted local reporting like The Guardian in the UK? Are there bars in the area that stream games?

I know in my attempts to follow soccer and rugby that it seems infinitely hard to locate decent streams or news sources. I 'support' Arsenal FC because an ex-roommate was born in London an yelled me awake each morning whenever Henry scored a goal unit. Where I am in Refrigerator-land it is hard to find a good soccer pub.

My brother currently lives in the UK and has signed up for Sky Sports. Would his login allow me to stream games over to the states?

Master Card trolling...

The worst part is the time zones. I love that many games start at 1 P.M. EST. That's 7 P.M. over here, which is acceptable. Late games suck, and for the Super Bowl I usually take the next day off. (If I don't have an exam like this year. FML)

Another thing is that on German TV they only show the SB, for the rest of the season you have to find something else. The Game Pass on NFL.com is pretty great, but also almost prohibitively expensive (around $400/season, I think. Could be wrong though.)

What news outlets do you read - American-based sources or attempted local reporting like The Guardian in the UK?
There's very little reporting over here. A few articles in the play offs, nothing more.
I follow NeoGAF, ESPN, Boston Herald (What a shitty shitty paper, but their sports coverage is okay), Grantland, Blogs like KSK and Deadspin, and some Twitter stuff.

Are there bars in the area that stream games?
I have only ever found one in Germany, a Hard Rock Cafe that had ESPN America.

It's pretty easy for me to watch games, I have a television channel named ESPN America which broadcast NFL, MLB, NHL, College sports and other ESPN shows like Inside the NFL and things like that. It's perfect, but the only drawback is it's only 1 channel, so they can't show all the games live. When they don't show the Pats games I watch online streams, but those aren't always great. The only thing that sucks is the time difference, the night games start around 2 am here, so I don't get a lot of sleep after the games.

I only read American-based sources (There isn't any local reporting) , Twitter provides me with a lot of news but I also read a lot of American newspapers online. I don't know about bars that show the games here, I have never seen one, but I think there must be few out there probably in Amsterdam.

Sounds like Cutler is going to be a daddy. Must have been reading this thread. Looks like it will be Eznark, FutureVoid, then Cutler.

Packers -> Giants -> Bears ?

I suppose that is the one benefit of living in the East Coast, watching soccer games would usually run from 7am-12pm here for the EPL, 2pm for La Liga. The only time I swore repeatedly was during the Rugby World Cup, which forced me to get up around 4-5am and set up the stream Channel 4 to watch.

I don't know why these Leagues are so hesitant to allow individuals from foreign lands to subscribe cheap to follow a team or a number of teams. I believe the NBA's package is rather inexpensive for the amazing streaming quality and multiplatform use. MLB isn't bad either.

Are you guys still learning about the sport, or do you consider yourselves committed fans at this point?

Somewhere in between. I only started watching 4 years ago, and football is impressively complex compared to other stuff like Soccer (which I kinda hate.)

If I look at the time I spend per week on football, I'm definitely a hardcore fan. I mean, whenever you have classes at 10 and stay up til about 5 A.M. to watch a shitty game, you probably are.

I think I've learned fast with the help of GAF, but I'm still stumbling upon new details almost every day.

I do recall you staying up during some bad thursday night games or something, haha.

I still learn stuff too. I remember being confused watching Iowa have to block two consecutive field goals a couple years ago because the rules are different depending on whether the ball passes the line of scrimmage or not.

I've played football myself for 3 years, so I know most of the rules (But we've played with NCAA rules) and I believe playing Madden also helped with my understanding of football haha.

I consider myself a committed fan, I explained here before that my dad is from Boston, I've watched almost all the games since '06 (My mom would finally let me stay up, lol), so I think I consider myself a committed fan. Hell staying up every week 'till 5am on a Sunday asks for quite the commitment when you need get up early on monday.

Someone had to bring it up:

The Bradshaw non-fumble was karma for the "ineligible receiver" BS from the last playoff game between the two.

who gives a shit? is anyone honestly saying that is the reason we lost the game? if so they are fucking idiots. we were lucky to be in the game after going 1/13 on 3rd downs.... and that 1 conversion was a meaningless 3rd down conversation at the end of regulation when we had no timeouts and the giants let us get the ball down the field

I wasn't really serious you know :x Well, not about the karma thing anyway, the 2002 game is still rage-inducing to this day, even far beyond how it ended.

Lol that is gif of the year!

Ready to finally give in and admit a team needs a real qb to win in the NFL nowadays? Defense alone isn't enough! Small hands isn't the answer. Get Pey Pey now or ruin the potential run the defense can help bring over the next couple seasons!

Thanks for your perspective, guys! Only two, long weeks left, sadly.

alex played like shit but he wasn't the only reason we lost.

i don't even think i'm going to watch the superbowl. it's not that i'm salty i just literally don't give a single fuck about the game this year. the niners playoff run has completely sapped my enthusiasm for football!

Jerry Jones

Cowboys owner/coach/spokesman/G.M. Jerry Jones was asked Monday at the Senior Bowl about the success of the Super Bowl bound New York Giants.

In Jones’ estimation, the biggest difference between the Cowboys and the Giants is simple: Eli Manning. Ouch.
