Yeah, I'm really not sold on Flynn being the solution to the Dolphins' QB issues. I'd love to be proven wrong, of course, but the scenario you're talking about seems a lot more likely given our recent history.

I would like to hear from Packers-GAF how much Philbin was involved in day-to-day offensive strategy, game planning and calling. Obviously your HC calls the plays on game day, but if you guys know some stuff, I'd appreciate some info.

Damn you YouTube!

Don Capers apparently had a second visit with Oakland. So who do we replace him with? Darren Perry? He's my guy. I know Winston Moss is the "Assistant HC" or some shit, and I obviously know shit about what our position coaches actually do or how good they are, but I always liked Darren in the brief glimpses we see of them. Smart guy.

It's been a popular story for the first 19 weeks of the season, what's two more?
They'll move away from it, I don't think a weak defense is a big enough story for the Superbowl. Too much good stuff to focus on rather than NE shoddy defense.

Tuned into Cowherd this morning and it seems like he's trying to sell that if you picked the top 15 players between these two teams, NE would come out ahead.

Useless fact that only interests me but I'm sharing anyway...

The day after the Super Bowl is my birthday. So I'm either going to have a great birthday or it's going to REALLY suck!

I am shocked that Colin Cowherd, an admitted huge fan of the Patriots, would feel this way.

Cowherd is the worst fan ever. Every hated team is one he loves--Patriots, Yankees, USC, etc.

Rolle on WFAN giving the Niners plenty of love.

Says that for the first time in his career, he can say that the team that won wasn't the one that wanted it more. The Niners wanted it just as much and pushed the Giants to their limit. Takes his hat off to the organization and the players and says they couldn't have played any harder and they left it all on the field.

Also puts the blame on himself for the Davis TD (as he should). Puts it entirely on himself in fact.

I can't even believe this is the same Antrel Rolle from the last two seasons.

I know he is. I'm just saying that he/espn will move on from the weak defense story and find a way to bring Brady/Belichick to the forefront.

Where was Capers last a HC at?

Peyton wouldn't go to the same division as Eli. Wouldn't go to the same city either.

Then again, I don't think he'll ever play a down again.

Rob Lowe?

Nike better not ghettofy NFL uniforms. The last thing I want to see is every teams uniforms looking like that garish shit those retards at Oregon wear.

Rob Lowe?

He's had two backiotomies and repeated setbacks in his recovery. His triceps are probably the size of Eli's big toes and the Colts are making enough moves to show they're not going to resign him. Why play and risk his ability to make Mastercard commercials? He can live vicariously through Eli if he wants to taste another championship.

According to my sources, at least.

I don't think he would go to the Jets, he would go to the Redskins, probably the best fit for him.
Place with a young core, no qb, and loads of cash

His ego and Mike's ego cannot coexist. If they get Manning, they still must draft a QB... And they can't draft a scrub cus there's a good chance he may have to play. Manning + RGIII, I can live with that.

Looks like the revolving carousel of Denver defensive coordinators might keep spinning, Dennis Allen leading candidate to become Oakland's coach.

Can we post PFT links or is it on the level of Kotaku? Schefter also has confirmed it.

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree there. I can't wait for Reebok to be off of NFL sidelines (oh god, those awful sweatshirts and hats especially), and I'm holding off on making any new Texans apparel purchases until Nike has sexed things up. I'm pretty sure Nike's not going to go as crazy with NFL gear - the point of the Oregon uniforms is to increase the team's national exposure and attract recruits (it's worked in both areas), but NFL teams don't need to worry about either of those things. Nike is rumored to be working on some Pro Combat-esque looks though, so we'll probably see some cowbell.

I'm kinda LTTP in regards to this but...when/will anything be unveiled?

I'll forgive Nike if some crappy teams want to go down the shit uni river, as long as they make some suits for coaches to wear on the sideline. Suits! and make them mandatory.

Saw this as well. Sucks because it would have been nice to have some stability, but on the other hand he was wildly inconsistent. I guess we will see what happens, I trust EFX to get a good replacement. Now if we can get McCoy to call a good game consistently.

I had recorded the Giants-49ers game and brought it with me to work to watch during some down time. This is hard to admit, but as much as I respected Eli's game this year I'm completely impressed by how he took an absolute beating from that 49ers d-line without complaint or injury. Except for a few times, he rarely looked skittish in the pocket, and on several plays he stood out like a column while chaos reigned around him. Then he'd get pounded to the ground, get right back up, and do it again.

That one shot of him getting up with his chin strap on his nose, helmet askew and shoulder pad pulled out is classic. For such a doughy, unassuming-looking guy with zero emotive capability he's a damn stud in the pocket.

Coaches rocking Nike suits on the sidelines? Like that game between the Jags/9ers that one year?

I want to see Norv in a suit. gansta.

Who would start rocking a sweet hat first? I vote Tomlin.

I'm mildly optimistic that our O won't suck as much, but I fear we are going to give up 20 first rounders for Flynn who's gonna be out of the league in 2-3 years. That's what happens to every QB we spend draft picks on. :(

It's not going to happen, at least i hope not. We're going to give up first round picks for RG3.

I have no idea, to be honest, but I would imagine they have to at least wait until after the Super Bowl. I'm secretly hoping they unveil them shortly after the Super Bowl, but I could see them waiting until something like the draft or the start of preseason too.

I agree - the NFL should institute a dress code for coaches and injured players, Bill Belichick and his ilk are just embarrassing.

It really is mind-blowing how much tougher he's gotten. I remember lambasting him early in his career because he always looked terrified of pass rushes and virtually every throw was off his back foot. Contrast that with his cool determination in the pocket these days; for example, waiting long enough for Bradshaw's wheel route to break open even as three 49ers are about to drape themselves all over him ... color me impressed.

Its not about forward progress. If it is, then blow the whistle when we have the guy wrapped up. But no whistle blows until we stripped the ball and have possession. That was my issue with it.

there is a dress code for coaches, they have to wear licensed gear.
No, a real dress code. Do you think the sideline dress code was detrimental to the NBA? I sure don't. Some of those players are even downright fashionable these days.

While I do feel for you, some of it is karma for being a complete asshole in the playoffs!

a ruling on the field that forward progress was stopped does not require that a whistle was blown at that specific time does it?

I remember the Cavaliers at the time had to stop wearing flannel.

The sidelines are the equivalent of Nascar pasting logos all over the cars.
