PixelJunk Eden out now on Steam

I did the ping pong swinging grimp achievement all by myself.

Lol! So did I *Fist bump*

I purchased Encore. But like many here never got around to playing it. I'll finish the main game one of these days. It's pretty difficult, and trying to get trophies can be madding.

I hate double dipping but at least I will have more of a worthwhile chance to play this wonderful gem compared to the amount of time I invest in the PS3.

Haha, so did I. Was a lot easier than I thought it would be though.

Also, as someone else brought up, I have bad memories of level 7 with the changing gravity. I ended up using player created maps for most of the later levels, and they were invaluable for that level.

Awesome. I'm getting my pje tattoo here soon once I move up to 5th on the 2-players leaderboard, would no doubt play it more single player on a computer.

As in, when they make a game, they make it with one platform in mind. :) So you rarely see their stuff appear elsewhere other than the platform they designed it for. It's why this announcement caught me by surprise, but now I'm so excited to see how this game looks at crazy resolutions.

Eden on the PS3 already ran at 1080p 60fps with AA, not really that much room for improvement. I'd be more interested in ios versions for the portability.

lmao I think I did too.

I have done many 2-4 person LittleBigPlanet challenges by myself too. You should see my awkward ass holding 4 controllers in a way that I can reach joysticks and buttons effortlessly. It's a cool challenge actually.

I'd much rather they brought over Monsters. Didn't really care for Eden and I've been on a tower defense kick lately.

Might double dip if it has new features/content. I love this game but the design decision where you end collecting the same Thingies(sorry, can't remember PixelJunk parlance) over and over almost kills it.

It's a pity that they didn't port PJ Shooter over instead.

Eden is the worst PJ game, IMO. I'd rather play racers, even. I simply could not enjoy the gameplay in Eden.

Dylan here You might want to give it another go - we really revamped it considerably for Steam and it plays beautifully with the mouse... in fact, it is a much better suited game to the mouse!

The new quick warp feature that uses up a little bit of your energy to take you back to where you were last sitting is a godsend too. :-)

That and you don't need to re-collect Spectras like you did in the original because you start out right where you left off after each Spectra.

Huh.

If I can play PixelJunk Eden at 2560 x 1440 then I think I shall double-dip. Pure eye candy.

Warning to the newcomers: game is no joke. It gets ka-razy towards the end.

edit - oh Hey Dylan! this change:

That and you don't need to re-collect Spectras like you did in the original because you start out right where you left off after each Spectra.

is HUGE and will be very welcome, I suspect. Nice work.

We re-tuned it so the difficulty is just a challenge and not frustrating :)
As one example, we lowered the no. of those spikey pollen prowlers (the guys who cut your silk) and mixed them up with the nice type (the ones that are really rather pleasant to burst into pollen).

Oh and yes, it looks beautiful on my 27inch dell monitor at 2560x1440.

sold.

Side Scroller > Shooter 1/2 > Racers > Eden >>>>>>> Monsters.

Nah. Monsters is a really nice game, and one of the better balanced TDs out there. It plays too slowly, though.

That change was something I wanted in the original game but we just didn't have the time or money to be able to do it (we were a lot more unsure of ourselves back then so couldn't take the risk). Nowadays we were like "let's fix all this shit and who cares when we release it" when we attacked the problem of bringing it to Steam so we did a full review and fixed it all up! There are some other changes too - for example, the physics of the grimps are a touch less "floaty" now and there is a time bonus for a certain move.

These are some awesome changes, and should pretty much fix any problems I had with Eden

This was one of my proudest 100%'ing accomplishments when I was hugely into completing games back in 2009. So brilliant and damn difficult. Relaxing yet rage inducing.

Getting "all seeds" in some of the more difficult gardens made me want to break shit, but it is a great game with a great soundtrack. Buy it.

I'd much rather see another Karoshi title from Q-Games developer Jesse Venbrux :D

PixelJunk Eden for PC is very much appreciated.

Jesse left Q last week I'm afraid to chase love and indie dreams to Australia! We enjoyed having him with us and you can see his mark on Monsters Online which was his baby.

He's heading the wrong way! Tell him to turn back! Though I must admit that Halfbrick are incredibly popular and they're based in my city.

I feel like booting up the PS3 to play Eden but now I want to save myself for the inevitable.

Great news for PC gamers. I love this game, best soundtrack of this gen along with Shatter. Cannot wait 4pm. Baiyon+Q Games=win

It's a must play TBH. Especially for platforming fans.

Will double dip. I wonder if there is a way to play the original version without all the new updates.

One of my favorite parts of this game was the challenge. One wrong slip and your are doomed.

Edit: I wonder if there are plans for PJ games on mobile platforms after seeing it appear on other platforms lately ;)
