Is there any word on if he is bringing assistants from Rutgers? It really sucks to hire a coach so late in this process.

I'm going to throw out a name that most people probably wont recognize for OC. Mark Whipple. He was handcuffed to sorry ass Jacory Harris while he was at Miami, but I was always impressed with the unpredictability of his play calls. You can never guess what play is coming because Whipple will call any play out of any formation and is very good at getting the defense to guess wrong based on down and distance together with formation.

Betting he'll get McNulty from the Cards to be your OC.

He was pretty good at Rutgers.

If he does pick an assistant from Rutgers, it will be Kyle Flood, the offensive line coach.

He had the best offensive line in football in 2006, when he had some talent. He would probably work better in the pros, than in college, because he's had some recruiting misses at the college level that considerably deteriorated the strength of the offensive line.

Edit: as of right now, the situation is a bit of a mess. Rumors are flying around everywhere as to what is going to happen.

I heard he was bringing his oc. This is going to be such a major clusterfuck, I'm actually kinda sad for you guys.

So, uh, Curt Schilling posts on GAF now.

I think he's objectively the best athlete and only champion in the forums.

Unless Ted Washington's been lurking for years.

Damn that is so fucking cool. Schilling is probably my favorite sports figure of all time. I still gets chills thinking about what he did in the 2004 ALCS.

I don't know what you're talking about, Lord Snow, but getting a shot of caffeine before your workout is very helpful.

Also you shouldn't be in the gym for long unless you're fucking around, so I don't see how he'd crash.

Maybe. While he was OC of the Eagles, they made it to three NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl. But he didn't call the plays. Andy Reid did.
They were a top defensive team. To be fair to Childress, he had nobody at WR most of his tenure and a QB who was afraid to make a big play in clutch time.

So much so that even A-Rodg is joining in!

Did Christian Ponder show any potential last season? I didn't watch many of his games.
What about Jake Locker?

Both seemed pretty likable judging from the pre draft coverage.

He flashed talent at times but was generally inconsistent. I think Webb was generally considered more impressive than him by year's end.

Not enough for them not to at least consider RG3. Same with the Jags.

I doubt they will though. They'll take either Kalil or Claiborne and give Ponder an off-season to work out his issues.

Sometimes I think he does this shit on purpose. Tom Brady: Troll Genius.

Why the fuck are the Ravens keeping Cam Cameron? Continuity? Fuck that. That asshole cost us games this year, is generally reviled, and should have been gone gone. My only rationale can be that instead of being done with Flacco, they're keeping Cameron as a patsie. So when Flacco fails again next year, they can fire Cameron, and say it'll be fixed. Then the year after, when Flacco sucks, they can say, he's learning a new offense. Then when he sucks after that, they'll acknowledge he sucks, cut ties, and oh yeah, that's 4 years into the future with no championship.

FUCK YOU FLACCO!!!!

Whipple is a sleeper, he finds ways to get vertical in the passing game. Pounds run and then gets you deep. Lot of multi level crosses. He'd be a good hire for someone. Has a good relationship with Chudzinski, may be his OC if he gets hired next season.

Edit: I could even see Cowher hiring him if he ever decides to come back.

RG3 talk is going to get interesting once his true height comes in. Russell Wilson was 5'10.5" and that alone has him way down. What if Griffin is 6' ? Listed at 6'1.5" but Luck towered over him at Heisman ceremony.

If he is on the short side, then all the talk of some sweepstakes of picks for the Rams is done. I'd hope they just choose whichever LT they think is better. Lots of STL fans complain about already wasting so much in picks and FA dollars on busts, but so what? You keep working on it until it's fixed

Everyone wants Blackmon. Well, he's three inches shorter than AJ Green. And he probably won't have Green's vertical. So he's not going to be a great option on those fade patterns where he has to go up and get it, no matter how well he high points it. So are you really going to take a WR at #2 if he can't do everything you want a top tier guy to do? If they trade down? Fine. But at #2, I'll be a little salty

From my perspective, I didn't think the height difference between the two was that drastic. Now if we're talking size, it's not even close. Luck was built like a tank, and RG still had the frame of a HS kid. Luck looked massive sitting next to RG.

Earlier in the year Fitzpatrick took a shot from London Fletcher, absolute kill shot. If RG took that kind of hit he wouldve been KO'd, multiple broken ribs.

It could be that the bulk of Luck warped my perspective on his height. But Griffin definitely is slight of build. He took a few kill shots for Baylor and got up. But always a bit slowly. I just think the notion that there would be a stampede for his rights is going to fizzle. It's not a deep draft as far a elite guys, and the Rams need to make sure they are in the right part of the lottery if they trade down. b/c I don't think the slew of picks will be there on a trade

Ravens are still impressed by Cam's 1-15 Dolphins. They know he can turn it around, no way they're giving Cleo Lemon the credit for that win!

I'll never forget you Greg Camarillo.

Yeah, he dwarfed him size wise. When they were sitting side by side I tried to line up their shoulders, not accurate at all, but they were closer than I thought they were going to be. Only a couple of inches seperates them, doubt it's more than 3.5.

When the Jets traded into the top 5 they gave up very little, the Falcons on the other hand... Former was moving up from the mid teens, latter was in the late 20s. Bigger problem is that most of the teams that need a QB are in the top 15, so you probably can't get a haul like the Browns received.

Only takes one team to fall in love with him. What if someone offered a second and a second next year but Rams stayed in the top 10? Would passing up on Claiborne be worth two seconds?

Edit: Giants gave up a first and second, if memory serves, to get Eli. That's a pretty good haul. Anything can happen, still too early.

Giants practice report:

WR Hakeem Nicks (shoulder) - Did Not Practice
CB Corey Webster (hamstring) - Did Not Practice
LB Jacquian Williams (foot) - Did Not Practice. He's in a walking boot with a foot sprain. He is going to practice next week in Indy. Says he's playing 100% (worth watching as he'll be covering Gronk along with Boley).
C David Baas (neck/abdomen) - Limited Practice
DE Osi Umenyiora (ankle/knee) - Limited Practice
RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) - Limited Practice
S Tyler Sash (concussion) - Practiced in Full
LC Chase Blackburn (Calf) - Limited Practice
CB Will Blackmon (Knee) - Did Not Practice

It's obvious Coughlin is giving his guys some more rest during this week before they head out to Indy. Hopefully it doesn't effect the overall performance of the team too much. I'd hope to hear about some spirited practices next week.

MOBILE, Ala. — Well, now. Here’s something Vikings fans maybe didn’t think about before: their team trading the No. 3 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

You’d figure that, with QB Christian Ponder entering his second season, there’d be no question Minnesota would seek to assist him with either a stud left tackle (USC’s Matt Kalil?) or a No. 1 receiver (Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon?).

But thanks to Vikings' general manager Rick Spielman‘s comments Wednesday during Senior Bowl practice, it might be time to consider the Vikings open for business.

“It will be, I think, very busy on draft day,” Spielman said in an interview on the NFL Network set. “We’re the third overall pick, so we’ll be looking at all the options. If someone wants to come up and get our pick, we’re going to be more than willing to listen.”

Looks like St. Louis may not be playing in London after all:

Responding to the Rams' plans to play games in London, the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission said today the team is required by its lease to play all home games at the Edward Jones Dome.

"We immediately brought this to the Rams' attention and are awaiting their response," the commission, which manages the Dome, said in a statement.

The Rams announced last week that they would play one home game during each of the next three years in London, where owner Stan Kroenke also owns the Arsenal soccer club. The Rams are slated to play the New England Patriots this year in London's Wembley Stadium.

The commission acknowledged that the Rams playing overseas would "elevate an awareness of St. Louis on the global stage." But it added, "Our lease with the Rams requires that the Rams play all their home games in the Edward Jones Dome."

CVC President Kathleen "Kitty" Ratcliffe was unavailable for comment today. A commission spokeswoman, Donna Andrews, said she couldn't offer any additional details.

A section of the the Rams' lease at the Dome calls for the team "to play all its home NFL Games (other than pre-season NFL Games) at the Facilities." The Rams can disregard this rule if the Dome is not in useable condition or if the lease is terminated, according to that section of the lease.

The planned home games in London would be a financial boost for the Rams. NFL teams that have played in London have been guaranteed ticket revenue equivalent to a sellout, plus expenses.

Wembley Stadium seats 82,000, while the Dome seats 66,000. And while general admission tickets at the Dome ranged from $25 to $160 this season, prices for the Rams-Patriots game at Wembley range from $70 to $155.

The CVC's stance on the London games comes on the cusp of negotiations with the Rams about the condition of the Dome. The Rams can opt out of the lease by 2015 if the Dome is not a "first tier" NFL stadium. The CVC must deliver a plan to the Rams by Wednesday explaining how the Dome can be refurbished to meet that standard. That will trigger a series of negotiation deadlines in 2012. The lease, however, does not offer a clear-cut definition of what constitutes "first tier."

The Chargers received the Giants 3rd Round pick in 2004 along with the next years first round pick and fifth round pick. The Chargers wanted Osi with the deal, but Acorsi absolutely refused and threw in the fifth to seal the deal.

Well lots of people (at least two mocks I've read) think the Rams will get CLE's two picks, which I think is a dream. But I can't see CLE going another year w/o addressing QB, and Tannehill is not going to be there for their 2nd first rounder. So maybe CLE works something out

The Rams need help NOW. I'm not really interested in deferred picks. I think CLE almost lost a year (after losing a year w/ Mangini) by giving up their first last year.

And if the Rams draft defense there will be a riot. I'll join snesfreak out on the ledge if they don't address offense. Now, if they plug a bunch of holes in FA, then maybe. But they paid Bradford all that money and watched he and his two backups get pasted. They have to fix the OL.

edit: lol at Rams lease. Kroenke craps on every person there and they can do nothing about it.

As far as Vikes and CLE GM comments, this is the silly season. It's all lying all the time. No matter what CLE says, they are getting a QB out of FA or the draft. Of course the Vikes are open for business. All teams will trade if the offer is good enough
