You know that is the most generic complaint.
I'm pretty sure Bebpo and 7th hate it.
You rang?Femmeworth too. I did say most though.
I just can't find any recent stuff thats actually good. Code Geass I couldn't get in to , FMA: Brotherhood was nowhere near as good as the original anime series which I found was a breath of fresh air when it came out. Also Bleach was awesome the first season but than it just became garbage with the lack of story progression.
Sorry, I'm busy screen-capping Mayo Chiki!.You rang?

The manga is better than the anime most of the time. Cheap animation is such a buzzkill compared to good comic art.
The Gurren Lagann movies are a waste of time.
Wait, this is a controversial stance? I'm gonna have to beat some people up, if that's the case... Big O is awesome, and the world will know!
I think the second season, while not as great as the first, was still superb.

Carry on then.Sorry, I'm busy screen-capping Mayo Chiki!.
Have you watched Gurren Lagann?
Or have you done any research on the hundreds of other shows and movies that came out within the last 3 years?
Yu Yu Hakusho is the best shonen anime of all time. Is this controversial?
Wolf's Rain is horrible
So the Ghost in the Shell manga was better than the movies? How about Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal? Gunslinger Girl? Shigurui? And those are just some of the examples most people agree on; I can think of sone others I personally prefer even if some people might not (e.g. Fullmetal Alchemist, Berserk). If it began as a manga it's best as a manga. If it began as an anime it's best as an anime. This is absolute.

Not really. I think most would agree that it's at least up there. For me it's between that, Rurouni Kenshin and Fullmetal Alchemist (which admittedly isn't quite as adherent to the traditional shonen fighting formula as RK and YYH, being more adventure than action oriented). (Death Note is shonen in name only.)Yu Yu Hakusho is the best shonen anime of all time. Is this controversial?
Possibly the craziest thing I've read in this thread, well done!
The show should have been about Blue and the old man. : (May I ask why you found it horrible?
Having an index in the back of the book to help explain the Major's lesbian orgy party was a nice touch. Then again, the movie didn't need an index, so point to the movie. So the Ghost in the Shell manga was better than the movies?
The idea of source material means nothing to you? "Yeah, I liked the book better though" said when walking out of an film adaptation is a cliche for a reason. I was being a bit cheeky with the "absolute" line, of course there are exceptions. It hold true in general.

If you're that guy saying you liked the book better you need a) stop going to movies or 2) shut up about how you thought the book was better.
...marry me?
InfiniteNine is going to be so heartbroken when she sees this.:') (happy tears!)
I haven't seen Eva recently enough to judge, so as long as you don't have an Asuka body pillow, I'll live with it. I'd have to learn to love David Lynch movies other than Dune, though...
Well yeah, that and making NeoGAF in-jokes. We can also, like, totally get a basset hound, geographical distance be damned!
(If by earlly Oshii you mean 1984-ish through 2004, yes. I'd like to believe he's still got it, live-action & shitting-up-his-own-classics notwithstanding. Believe!)
...wait wait wait, back up, you like Argento too?! *faints*
The sheer volume (and utter gratuitousness) of margin notes and appendices - on top of the reams and reams of obtuse expository dialogue - actually elevates the manga to a certain level of surreal comedy.Having an index in the back of the book to help explain the Major's lesbian orgy party was a nice touch. Then again, the movie didn't need an index, so point to the movie.
I prefer the animated work much more so than the manga. : P
Because putting a yoko kanno soundtrack on a subpar series really shows how weak said series isMay I ask why you found it horrible?
Did you even read the OP?

Agreed. I went into it with sky-high expectations and by less than a dozen episodes in they were all destroyed. After the episode where Tenma treats a bunch of terrorists because he's such a good person and then they decide to renounce their lives of crime and turn themselves in, because Tenma is such a good person, that was when I definitively decided that I was through with this shit.
Also whenever I'm describing this show to people I always take care to mention that there is one episode where the protagonist learns how to fire a gun, and that is the entire plot of the entire episode.
I, uh.Another one (altough I'm not sure if it's really that controversial):
Brain Base is by far the best anime studio now and in the last few years.
Anime, or manga? The first season of the anime has some truly awful filler episodes and cringe-inducing "comedy". The manga still has some dorky silliness, but overall isn't nearly as bad. Also it has an entire third arc that ended up being relegated (in chopped and abbreviated form) to the OVAs.This reminds me of another controversial opinion.
Ruruouni Kenshin is good, but it's not that good. Yeah, the Kyoto arc is amazing, but the early stuff has a tendency to drag on, and a lot of the comedy feels forced. When it's on, it's awesome, but there's a lot of mediocre stuff mixed in.

There are examples right in this thread.
Starting with the OP.
Yeah, well, just wait til Studio Trigger starts putting stuff out, man. Yeah.Another one (altough I'm not sure if it's really that controversial):

- Gundam 0083: Stardust memories save for the nice animation and fights is pretty bad with offensively bad writing in the second half of the series, I think it tends to be more offensive than the average tomino series, because it AT LEAST had some potential for genuine greatness with koh and gato being interesting characters.
- K-ON!/K-ON!! is a better 4koma series than Azumanga daioh
- Kannagi is actually a good show apart from the last two episodes! it's a shame yamakan never topped it in his lifetime
- Makoto shinkai is a hack with all his films been the same shit over and over.
- Macross plus is pretty overrated, it has some nice direction, music and action but it's kind of held back by the poor writing which takes itself to seriously for it's own good, macross is at it's best when it's high-energy and campy.
- Turn A Gundam is the best gundam
- Gurren lagann second half is way better than most people give credit for.
- Spice and wolf is pretty dull apart from the relationship dynamic (which is what makes it worth watching!)
My controversial opinion is Angel Beats is not horrible.
If it began as a manga it's best as a manga. If it began as an anime it's best as an anime. This is absolute.

Usagi Drop says this is way wrong.
