It was warranted in 2008.
A 9-7 team that was once 7-7 and left for dead and is in the Super Bowl certainly still warrants some of that underdog mentality. The difference today is the run isn't quite as "surprising" specifically because of how 07-08 turned out and the opposing team isn't looking to make history by going undefeated. So of course the pundits are going to pick the Giants.

I would argue this run is more impressive considering how poorly the Giants had played during portions of the season. The '07 team was inconsistent but didn't get destroyed and give up against the Saints, lose to a VY led Eagles at home or sleep walk through the Redskin games, etc.

You guys are also going up against the 31st ranked defense in league..
I don't much stock into that though. The Giants defense was ranked 27th during the season. Do you think Brady and company are going to take that number for granted?

Marshall is a head case. Literally. Talking him up because of that joke of a game is Dolphin-like

Sure he's a bit of a headcase but his skills aren't lacking (see Ricky Williams). If he's in a good atmosphere he's going to perform. Not an ideal trait by any means, especially considering the atmosphere we've had down here, but I'm definitely glad he's on the team.

But the Pat's D is bad because they have no talent. Completely different than what's going on in NY.

No team that beatdown GB and then beat SF (both on the road)is an underdog. Those were some really impressive wins, and they played the Pats extremely well without one of their RBs, without Osi, and without Manningham. As a Pat fan, I'd bet on the Giants, which is why pretty much every "expert" is picking the Giants to win. The Giants players aren't pussies, so seeing them whine about being disrespected is just pathetic. Talk some serious shit like you did prior to GB and SF. Unlike the Jets, the Giants back that shit up. Even with Gomer Pyle at QB.

The most drama so far has been from Belichick today who essentially called all modern-day players pussies during his afternoon press conference.

Without Nicks actually, but it's a fair point.

Meh. Whatever the team needs to do to get them ready to get on the field and win. It's all about as harmless as Brady's comments about a post-win party (still amazed that was turned into some bulletin board material story).

Tuck is only making 625k? Wow. He's up for contract after 2012 so he'll need to be paid. Cruz, JPP and Nicks will also be up for contract soon. I'm glad I don't have Jerry Reese's job.

heh I read that today in the Daily News and was like come on, son. That's some reaching shit right there. i think the pats, or rather, brady, has learned his lesson after his reaction to plax's prediction of the score in 2007. i do wish the giants would talk some trash though; would make the week interesting at least. drop some cromartie a-hole bombs and then destroy them sunday, fuck it. unless you guys shit the bed, that's exactly what i think is going to happen, especially since gronk's gonna be gimpy and they can't stop the pass. hopefully it will be entertaining for at least a quarter.

I love that Pats list Faulk as a FB. That position has become a joke. Pats are overpaying Ocho and Deion and seriously underpaying Gronkowski and Hernandez.

Eisen is trying to get Tuck to say something like his "dirtbag" line from earlier this season. His answer was great. "When you talk about any O-line or D-line, the word probably fits." So far the Giants players are being more open than the Pats. He said the TEs of the Pats can be stopped.

Uh...that's got to be wrong on Tuck. His last deal was signing a 5 year, $30 million extension. Even with any potential contract fuzzy math, I don't see any way it could get down to $625,000. Rotoworld lists his 2011 base salary as $3.45M.

Osi is most likely gone after this season, so he will get that money.

Canty and Webster most likely will be restructured too. Way over paid for what they do. Can use that money on the WR's.

I'm weird with new foods.

I'm sure it's good, but it's something I'd have to eat without knowing beforehand.

You should try everything man! Live a little!

For instance if you ever get the chance you should try baked duck liver or soft-shell crab, things that don't sound appetizing, but are really good.
