[Anime] Your "Controversial" Opinions

Madoka was okay at best. I feel like people only liked it because it has moe blobs slapped all over it with a "dark" story.

Nichijou is my only liked anime from Kyoto.

Azumanga Daioh was just boring.

Penguindrum recently became my all-time favourite anime, after watching it nothing else interests me anymore.

My views on anime aren't any more controversial than most people here. BUT I do want to stress that anyone who recommends School Days to anyone is a bad person - and should have bad things happen to them.

Midori Days was stupid and I can't believe I got scammed into watching it from that animated gif (you know which one...)

anime series that exceeds 100 episodes are full of crap.

Shin Getter Robo series was very underrated in my opinion.

Akira the Anime is way overrated, too much is missing from the manga.

Cowboy Bebop is the best Anime series ever made, and the English dub is the best version.

Oh but this is so true. Its the only anime series I recommend to people who dont watch anime.

Also anybody who thinks Samurai Champloo is better is crazy. The characters, plot and music aren't even close to being as good as Bebop.

To the people who are like "dub is better", do you speak Japanese? I don't think one can accurately compare two languages without understanding one of them.

Cowboy Bebop is the only Anime where I can say straight up that English is better. Even though I prefer the English version for a lot of anime (DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, etc.), I still appreciate the original versions.

i cant stand moe blob
madoka was still a great show

I can't stand moe. Madoka was poorly written and directed. It's not even entertaining in the Code Geass "so bad it's good" kind of way. It's just bad. The anime industry is truly in a race to the bottom if a show like that is hailed as the best product the medium has churned out in years.

- Eureka Seven is a terrible, terrible show, in every way.
- Fullmetal Panic is incredibly, incredibly overrated. It's barely mediocre
- The 08th Ms Team is the best Gundam series

At least Madoka was only 13 episodes, unlike Code Geass. T_T

Two (aside from Fumoffu?) and three are not really that controversial. Eureka Seven isn't terrible in every way, the soundtrack is good and there are some nice action sequences.

Truly one of the few saving graces of that show. I can't even begin to imagine the cluster fuck that it would have been if it had gone on as long as Geass did.

And speaking of Geass, that show produced some of the greatest gifs ever. Spinzaku you will be missed.

Anyone remember Tramps Like Us? Shoujo manga from way back. It's the series that got me into manga. They had a lot of ads in Newtype USA. Newtype USA was so awesome.

So was Anime Insider (nee Invasion). God, does the US anime/manga market suck these days. I remember being 12 and worrying it was going to get too popular and it wouldn't be "cool" anymore. Lol nope.

^ lol. I love Gintama.

I bought an issue or two of that and it was pretty good. Newtype USA was very high quality but holy hell was it expensive. Anime Insider was really cheap compared to it.

I loved Clamp as a kid. Chobits was my first manga. Interested in how their stuff holds up from that era. I lost interest in their stuff around when xxxholic and Tsubasa was being released in the US. Anybody read Please Save my Earth? Now that was some good shojo.

Shoujo's target audience is teenaged girls so yeah. Read up on some Josei titles if you want something that isn't as male-centric as the usual shounen/seinen but still more mature than something like Tsubasa Chronicles.

Yeah I enjoyed Chobits when I watched it via AnimeNetwork. Would probably hate it if I rewatched it now though.

Never saw the anime.

Fruits Basket is a multi-talented beast. It's very funny when it wants to be, very sad at other times.
It's just a bunch of trope transformation humor. Fruit Basket is a lot of things (particular a good amount I find boring) but funny is the last one I'd pick.
one of the very few shoujo manga I enjoy. I remember it being funny and at times, dark. The ending is confusing to me.
You need to broaden your reads.

Numerous modern shoujo are very shounen. And IMO many are better then most shounen.

The thing that makes Code Geass is that each episode tries to top the last one. And since the show is longer that means more over the topness.

We all win.
Code Geass reminds me of a scene from The Dark Knight.
The Joker: [Batman slams The Joker's head on a table] Never start with the head, the victim gets all fuzzy. He can't feel the next...
[Batman slams a fist down on Joker's hand; pause]
The Joker: See?
That was my experience with Code Geass.

The Dakota Fanning dub of Totoro is fantastic. Mei especially steals the show. How people hate this dub, or even rank the 80's dub as better is baffaling to me.

Same goes for Spirited Away dub, fantastic.

Death Note is awesome.

I'm starting to stretch "controversial" but here's what I got left.

-Fafner is an absolute snore.
-Black Blood Brothers is one of the best vampire anime.
-Gankutsuou is boring.
-Gunslinger Girl has an awesome core concept despite its apparent ridiculousness.
-Kobato made me want to kill myself after 20 episodes.
-Michiko to Hatchin was terrible.
-Midori Days is charming, funny, and awesome.
-Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit is overrated.
-Ninja Nonsense is a fucking riot.
-I hate all yuri shows

That's all I got left and probably half don't qualify well.

The vast, vast majority of it is pandering crap, so I can't blame you there. If you hate Aoi Hana, we are going to have a problem.
