This is why that didn't make any sense to me. When time is much more important than downs at the end of a game, I don't see a reason for teams not to do this.

Because some teams would rather not have the asterix by their name in the W-L column.

Better team did win. Pats regulars bitched about their defense all year, and ultimately it failed them. All they had to do was stop Eli to hold on to their 2 point lead.

Disagree the Pats held the Giants to 21 points the offense let the Pats down. They could have easily put the game away, but they fucked up and the Giants made the plays at the end. The offense failed them today.

Keeping a team from getting a field goal with 3 minutes to go in a game is almost impossible. Psychology of the defense + 4 down time makes it an 80% proposition for the offense of even terrible teams. Reverse the situation today and the pats win (duh?).

To reverse the situation you needed to be a better team...

Glad the Giants won, I guess.

Good to see Brady sucking it up when it matters most, AFC CG and Super Bowl.

I missed a fair amount but I thought the best commercials were the M&Ms one and the Coke 'Catch' polar bear ones were best.

Loss isn't as bad as the one before at least in terms of my mental health. I guess take this as a blessing making it this far off of this piss poor defense that somehow is able to get some results despite their awfulness for years now. Can't wait til the draft where we draft our first defensive player in the third round.

You shoot a bear from 150-200 yards away with a high powered rifle. No Davy Crockett's in this century. I say make everyone get a bear with a knife, then I would be more impressed.

I'm a little drunk right now but I'm pretty sure he killed it with a chainsaw while it was biting off his hand.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. They had the lead, all they had to do was hold it. On the other hand the offense could have put the nail in the coffin.

My thought exactly.

For me I have to blame the offense. This year for the defense it has been about making enough plays to win the game. They did exactly that, and the offense couldn't hold up their end of the bargain. This defense is never going to stop good teams from scoring they can only limit their damage. Kept the game close enough for Brady, and he failed them.

I'm pretty giddy at the thought of the Brady era being over, finally. The team is going to lose a lot of talent, and they have a lot of holes to fill already. But, then again, the don't really have any competition in their division

He'd have been paid and entitled to a ring if the Pats won. If he was any sort of teammate, he wouldn't be happy for the loss.

I almost forgot in all the hype did his replacement even play one snap? I know they would have used him for special teams. If the used him to replace Gronk then cutting Underwood made perfect sense.

They also have 8 first rounds picks that they will now turn into 35 4th and 5th rounders.

They have 4 picks in the first 2 rounds. If they can sign Welker again and add some defensive players they should still be good.

Also, losing Super Bowls sucks.I don't know how you Bills fans lost 4 straight.
